My parents did not kiss me on the lips, so it is not normal for me to share affection this way. However, I know parents who do show their adult children affection by kissing them on the lips for a quick second and I don’t see anything wrong with it. LisaRaye and Will Smith also show their children affection through kissing. It comes across a little weird for me simply because it was not my parents M.O. I show my children affection through hugs and cheek kissing. I definitely try to make sure that my young children do not think that mouth kissing is natural, because I want them to be concerned if a stranger, relative, or other kisses them on the lips.
