I feel like I offended some of the women on here yesterday, but I was just giving you the raw report. As you can see a lot men sided with me..Thats why I shared my story. Some men really feel this way. Now just because I’m not the “marriage type” don’t make me less of a man. At least I know my position. And at least I’m man enough to speak my mind, instead of leaving my wife in our mid 50’s!

Her husband definitely has my vote. Last night set the bar and stage very high, what I saw last night in Michelle, is we are all the same regardless to race, and gender. The speech Mrs. Obama gave was simply awesome, the love and respect they have for one another is something that makes you want to smile right along with them, they will be an excellent President and First Lady. For me it would be no twist, I support Sen. Barack Obama and putting either Rice or Powell on the Repub. ticket would not make me for one second reconsider my support of Sen. Obama.

I believe this election has taught so many people the true process behind voting and getting your candidate into the nomination. I’m hoping Americans will stay involved in the ENTIRE process and realize that it takes more than showing up in November to get your candidate in office.
I don’t believe Hillary will win in 2012 if she becomes the nominee. Unfortunately, she’s done enough damage to herself now with what I believe is a “GOP-like” sense of entitlement to the Presidency. I also don’t believe the Democratic party is as polarized as the media wants us to believe. I know several Hillary supporters that want Obama to win, and I know even more that refuse to let McCain win, regardless of who the nominee will be.
And for the person with the question about would I vote for Obama if he put Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell on the ticket: It depends. If they’d come forward and openly admit they were wrong and took some missteps, I’d accept Colin Powell. Many of the people Obama has slated to work with came from Bush’s administration, but they’re people who left, not people who stuck out the charade. I love Condoleeza Rice, think she’s a great woman, very well educated, and got in where she fit in (the rich GOP). She’s no dummy and she’s making her money and is going to walk away with a legacy. She’s been the highest African American female member of any administration, just not on the side that most African Americans prefer.
I’m sorry for rambling, but what we’re witnessing is an awesome election not just because of the history on the Democratic side, but because this election has had some of (in not THE) highest participation rates in modern election history. My participation has at times been frustrating, tiring, and overwhelming, but I thank God that I’ve been able to witness it.

I pray to God you’re right. I have no idea how the white people at my job will vote. Because we dont discuss it. I know all the black folks are voting Obama, and not just because he’s black, but because he’s change. I think everyone is ready for a change, but like someone said earlier in this post…i dont think everyone is ready to see a black man lead that change. All we can do is pray and believe. This is the hardest our economy has ever suffered and i fear it will only get worse with McCain in office. Never did i think i would have to worry about my child’s well being, his future. because i’ve always taken steps to ensure his future is financially secure, but i honestly fear now, that all the hard work i’ve put into it may be out of my hands. that’s f*cked up on so many levels.

I think the biggest problem is that the mainstream media can’t accept a black family being on the level of white families. It’s so obvious that you and your co-workers are alike, so I don’t appreciate people saying the Obamas aren’t the norm. I wanted to look at a white co-worker and scream.
If you had to go to college and have 3-5 years experience to get your job, guess what, the black person next to you had to do the same thing. When you walk into your pharmacy and the black pharmacist helped you, guess what, there’s an educated black person! When your black babysitter stays with your kids all day, guess what, there’s a black small business owner, just like the white woman that watched you when you were growing up. When you walk into a car dealership and the black salesman that keeps winning salesperson of the month/year and drives away in a nicer car than yours, has pictures of his kids in extracurricular activities all over the walls, HE PROVIDES FOR HIS FAMILY JUST LIKE YOU!!!!
I think the black community should start uplifting it’s own people and it’s own image. Rappers and athletes shouldn’t be our only symbols of prosperity. Show the business people, writers, educators, small business owners, lawyers, doctors, we can even take it down to the union level and show utility workers, bus drivers, etc.
I can’t believe WE allow people to define as something less than what we are. We work, love, and live like other people, so why can’t WE be accepted as leaders in this country?

We praise him because he’s one of us, as McCain is not. He shares the same experiences that regular folks(white or black)share. He’s concerned about issues that concern us…the future of his children, healthcare, GAS, the war in Iraq…We cant and dont relate to McCain…thats why we’re not voitng for him. BOTTOM LINE. McCain does not represent the majority of Americans, he’s a minority. Obama represents the majority…working class people, just trying to survive, maintain. Whats the point in having a leader that doesnt represent the crowd you’re trying to lead. He doesn’t speak for us. he doesnt experience the same problems that normal people go through on a daily basis. I want a President that feels what i feel. I want one that cringes everytime he pulls up the the damn gas pump too! I want him to know what its like to have to worry about our children’s future. DENVER – Police have arrested three people they believe are possibly linked to a white supremacy group in connection with a threat against Sen. Barack Obama.
For one of the men, officers found two rifles, ammunition, scopes and methamphetamines following a routine traffic stop on Sunday.
Aurora Police arrested 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell early Sunday morning and he was being held in the Arapahoe County jail. He has a felony criminal record.
A second man was arrested at Cherry Creek Hotel in Glendale on Monday. NBC News reports that when police knocked, the man jumped out a sixth floor window, injuring himself. He ran into nearby bushes where officers apprehended him. Authorities say he had weapons.
Aurora Police say a third person was arrested, but has not yet released any details.
9Wants to Know has learned the Gartrell arrest led investigators to the Rockies Inn at Evans Avenue and Interstate 25 and information learned there led them to the Cherry Creek Hotel.
“We’re trying to figure out what these guys had in mind,” said an unnamed federal official.
At least one of the men made some kind of threat against Sen. Barack Obama.
Sources tell NBC the two men had tattoos and jewelry popular with white supremacists.
Authorities plan to release more details on Monday night at 8 p.m. 9NEWS.com will stream the news conference live.
At the Rockies Inn, investigators made contact with a number of people tied to Gartrell’s arrest.
9Wants to Know spoke with the manager of the Rockies Inn and she said that the police were in the inn parking lot on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and they took down car license plate numbers.
Authorities tell NBC News they are skeptical there was anything other than some kind of general animosity and no actual plan to do anything.
“This is a methamphetamine and firearms case that arose from a traffic stop made by an Aurora Police officer. Firearms and methamphetamine were seized, and a number of individual are in state custody. The matter continues to be under investigation. We’ll provide more information at 4 p.m. tomorrow,” said U.S. Attorney Troy Eid.
Officials tell 9Wants to Know the guns, ammunition and scopes were concerning because of the hour of the arrest and the suspect’s previous criminal history.
“There is no reason for someone [with a criminal record] to have rifles with scopes,” said an unidentified source.
An official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, says there is concern about the arrest considering the Democratic National Convention kicked off in Denver on Monday.
People convicted of a felony are not allowed to possess guns.
Gartrell faces charges of drug possession and possession of materials to make amphetamines.
“Federal agencies are working together to do a follow up investigation after the arrest,” said the official. “There may be pending firearms charges.”

I can’t express how thrilled I was last night with Michelle’s speech. It was a very moving night and I’ve only seen words of praise for her in online analyses of her remarks. You could tell she put her heart into her words, and the look on her mother’s face was priceless. When she talked about her father, I thought about my own dad. I think she’s a phenomenal woman, and to see a black woman with her poise, grace, intelligence, and eloquence grace the national stage was a sight in which sisters can take pride.
And Malia and Sasha are so precious — they’re lovely young ladies, and they are a testament to Michelle and Barack’s commitment to their family.

Sen. Kennedy’s speech was very poignant, particularly when it wasn’t a certainty that he would be able to attend, much less speak, given his medical condition. I was thrilled when he took the stage, and I was very moved (even shed some tears). I hope he is able to fulfill his pledge to appear beside Obama in Jan., should he win the election. The Kennedys are a Democratic institution, and the news of his cancer hit me hard. That family has been through a lot. I saw Maria Shriver wipe away tears, and I think Carolina Kennedy — who has stayed away from the national political scene for years — has been great. I saw her on Meet the Press, and I think she handled the questions deftly on CNN last night.
On another note, I also have a lot of respect for former president Jimmy Carter, and I thought the video of him with Katrina survivors was well done. All in all, I thought it was a great evening.
I liked Nancy Pelosi’s speech, too. I Heart Nancy.

Check the Obama bank account and see how “normal” it is. They are a pretty rich family. Do you think that both little girls attend public school? Highly unlikely. Yet very “normal”, right? Have you ever seen the Obamas’ house. Far from normal indeed. It was ironic that Obama harped on McCain for having too many houses while he (Obama) only has one (and what a house it is). She also spoke of Obama’s humble beginnings. Should I remind you that John Edwards came from very humble beginnings too, and we see how much of an elitist he is. He gets $400 haircuts, so I doubt that humble beginnings have much to do with how “normal” Obama is. My point is, nobody with a serious shot at the presidency of this nation is “normal”. Not normal financially, educationally, or even in ego (imagine how egotistical a person must be to think that they could actually do a good job running a super power on the world stage). They went to college on scholarships, grants, and part-time jobs, like normal folks. They started at the normal level of their first jobs, and did not receive elitist handouts and favor “internships”. Both of them moved back to the community to give back, so if they can finally afford a grand house, I ain’t mad.
Some would like to put the Obamas in a Catch-22: If they didn’t move into a better neighborhood or get a nice home they could afford, then they would be accused of pandering, not very smart financially, and trying too hard to keep it real. When they use their fortunes to provide top-notch accommodations and education for their daughters, they are accused of being elitist, and cannot keep it real. Barack and Michelle’s story is like one any of us should aspire to when we find the right person, marry them, and start a family. A couple that pooled their resources and intelligence to grow and build, and not tear each other down.

Good for them that they both have great jobs and can manage to make money in ways that only rich people can. I am very wary of politicians. I don’t trust much of what they say to the public. They are like used car salesmen. They will say ANYTHING to make the sale. To include parading their children in front of you to show how earnest they are about helping you. I include the Obamas in this group. do you not care about the issues at hand AT ALL? do you not care that mccain doesn’t know what is going on at home? what’s the point of having a better experience with foreign policy if he doesn’t even know about current domestic issues? he doesn’t know about the contraceptives issue, he’s out of touch with most working class americans (as he owns 7 houses and he’s too wealthy to have been affected by our current economic situation), and he refuses to speak to international terrorist groups without pre-existing conditions, which is SO stupid.

is universal healthcare that despicable to you? you don’t care that millions of people die in America because they can’t afford it? canada has universal healthcare: they are not socialists. england has universal healthcare: they are not socialists. france is one of the healthiest countries you can live in: they have universal heatlhcare. on the other hand, america is plagued with obesity, heart disease, not to mention extremely high stats in gun-related deaths.
mccain doesn’t care because none of this affects him. but these are issues we will have to come face to face with at one point in our lives. i can’t change your mind about mccain, but again, you really need to study the FACTS and read the STATISTICS and FOCUS on the right things. “inexperience” is not a sufficient excuse for hating on obama. why? with a president there are cabinet members. the president alone doesn’t decide what to do, he has political advisors. the candidate’s experience is not very relevant.
If you have read any of obama’s books, you would know that he repeatedly states and emphasizes his beliefs: he is a christian. you are obviously reading republican lies. find the truth: the school obama attended didn’t enforce upon their students any muslim ideas or beliefs. he attended that school as a christian, and he has friends from that school that can back him up. there is NO evidence, whatsoever, that say otherwise. innocent until proven guilty. once again, study the facts and know the truth before you pass any judgement.

I feel you on that Dana Dane…most politicians are not really talking about what they can do because they know there are a multitude of factors that are involved when it comes to the economy, education, foreign affairs, health issues. But like you said, he’s at least bringing a fresh perspective and a more affable demeanor (something I strongly believe helped out Bill Clinton)…like Vee said “His ethnicity is just icing on the cake”
@Poerced: I retired from the Navy after 20 years, and watched my friends get separated from the kids, go on deployments that last forever, and get constantly uprooted. And now after being lied to, soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen are sent on deployments in an almost inhumane rotation just to back up failed policies and deals made with the devil. At least Barack is the only candidate in this recent campaign that can say he was against this war from the beginning, and that not concentrating on Afghanistan was only going to cause colossal pain and suffering to us and those we were supposed to help. All of the other candidates either staunchly support the war, or have changed their mind as the war has dragged on, including those who scoffed that Obama was too inexperienced to make such a judgment call. But, he was right.
So rather than gloating, he turned his attention to veterans of this war, and saw the inadequate treatment they received and the conditions they had to endure and he has been fighting for them ever since.
How many of your buddies do you suspect should not have a gun in their hands because of war-related mental truama? How many marriages are broken up because of inadequate counseling received upon arrival home? And how many have had the active duty service involuntarily extended well beyond contractual obligations because of lower manning and shortge of skilled persoonel?
If it wasn’t for Obama and his supporters who investigated veteran issues, Walter Reed Army Hospital and other scandalous issues would have stayed in the dark. The exposure of these issues has eaten away at the already fragile and meager support the war has among the American public.
And for all his experience as a POW, McCain not only supported the atrocity that Gitmo has become, but he doesn’t consider “waterboarding” torture. And he has supported the detention of foreign citizens at Gitmo and other facilities worldwide without cause, representation, or notification of families. There are hundreds of families that do not know where their men are. Really.
Remember – I was a member of the Armed Forces, and I love being an American because I can speak my mind and respect the opinions of others that do. But to overlook the facts, or at least not pursue them is tantamount to just becoming a sycophant, an ostrich with its head all the way in the sand.

@NotoriousOne~I concur (cyber hi-five). So many of us are so brainwashed I don’t know if I should be angry or sad about it. Like you-I make great money (just hit six figs last year). I only thank God for the advancements I’ve made–becasue clearly alot of closed-minded people: a combination of misguided blacks and closed-minded republicans that I’ve worked with made continuous efforts to stop my progress. But I would not be denied! The point is, for those of us who don’t make good money even though we well deserve it, a change in government is needed. Republicans are all about making money for each other and supporting their own interests. Anyone who cannot fatten their pockets or their portfolios simply does not exist to them. I’m from Philly, born and raised: I have struggled to get to where I am and while I am grateful, I owe no one anything. In order to see progress like yours and mine continue, for people of color, Barack is the ONLY way to vote. Yes-I know he won’t just be ‘our’ president, but it is far more likely that he will care about and address our issues than McCain will. For anyone in our community to even think of voting for McCain truly boggles my mind.

I think Barack and Michelle is as close to “normal” as we will ever get. Lets face it, a broke man will NEVER be President so whats the point in your argument. What she(Michelle) meant by normal when she was referring to herself and her husband, is that they know what its like to struggle because they DID…Like Rozza said, you cant be mad at them just because they took active steps to make sure their children will never know whats its like to struggle.
