I actually know a few women like this. One of them is my sister…. she’s a beautician but will not treat the overall health of your hair on purpose. She’ll argue that it’s not true all day long, but a beautician’s clients’ hair speaks volumes.

When a sista shaves off all her hair, it’s usually a sign she’s going through something cataclysmic. Maybe she can channel this into another substantial effort like ‘Velvet Rope.’

Yes girl, none of her clients have healthy hair, it’s all fried, dyed, and laid to the side. I stopped getting my hair done by her when I was 17 years old…haven’t turned back. My stylist now is professional and the main goal of the salon is to keep folks’ hair on their head. I found the thread last week intriguing because I go to a black salon and they do that same blowout method that the dominicans are supposedly taking over the market with…*shrugs*

UMMMM OK-Off topic. Is it me or does anyone think she wears a fat suit? There were pictures of her just a few weeks ago on a couple of sites(could have been old pics) and she looked about 20lbs heavier. Although, she looks good with or without the weight…just observing-Janet keep in control! It’s not healthy to yo-yo diet and lose and gain weight so frequently. Nonetheless, I think she looks FAB with her hair short, thinning sides and all. Most African American women suffer from thinning hairlines as a result of styles they choose to wear or have previously worn. It also stems from a lack of proper hair care.

Never thought it was JJ. Wow. This is what happens after years and years of weave. Your hair thins out eventually. I don’t mind her hair being short, but I can see her scalp, not a good look. In addition to this all, where did her butt go? I like Janet, but right now this look makes her look older, in my opinion. Overall it is a bad picture, but no one is perfect. But the hair.. not feeling it, at all.

Interesting, I didn’t know that. I think I’ve decided to stop relaxing my hair. Part of the reason I like going to a Dominican salon is that the blowout technique can allow me to still maintain the style I like without the chemicals. I’m researching natural hairstyles as well.

And I absolutely believe — and know from experience — that hair extensions can be damaging to a sister’s tresses as well.

I was saying earlier in the thread that I go to a black hair salon and they’ve been using that same method that the dominicans use. I thought that method was exclusive to the dominicans from the thread last week, but I can tell you that it’s not….I guess it depends on where you are in the nation…

She saw me one day and my hair is 2 inches past my shoulders she said on you already have long hair but you can come to my shop and get braids.. i said .. how much/ and she said 160.00 dollars.. i said see ya wouldnt want to be ya!! i have my lil nieces who can braid my hair and i give them 25.00 and it looks just like a professional .. kiss my grits and anywho im into healthy hair not a shop where they want just money and to throw some glue and fake hair on you,,, im all about the real!!! im real i have a real man and my body parts are real so go away from me with the glue or sewed in weave.. they say if you cant grow it .. sew it lol!! i am definetly not my hair!!

Where is it? Yes, I’ve seen a few black salons that have hired Dominican stylists, but I haven’t been to one (however, I haven’t visited other salons in a while) that has its regular stylists performing the service.

I’m going to have to look into the pomade you and Mock mentioned. I currently use an anti-humectant one from Aveda from time to time.

ALL NATURAL & in Twist & about 1 a month in the FRO mode just so it can breathe a little… those twist are verrrrry time consuming. Ms. Jessie’s products are very lightn not gooie, smell good & “they actually work” results are as promised, “softer, fuller more managable hair” Hmmm I might need to charge Ms Jessie a fee if I keep pushing her products !!! ya think if you decide to try them or the natural look (let me know the end result)

A lot of that fake hair is made in China and we all have heard of all the toxic things that come from China. Just recently T*M*Z reported that Miley Cyrus jewerly sold in Walmart is toxic.

So it makes me wonder how many toxic products are in the fake hair AND in the nail salons that Chinese/Asian people own and work in.
