Many were amazed by Barack Obama’s speech last night, Oprah especially:
“I cried my eyelashes off,” she said in the bowels of Invesco Field, moments after Obama accepted the nomination for president before an estimated 84,000 people. “I think it’s the most powerful thing I have ever experienced,” she added, calling Obama’s words “transcendent.” On the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a Dream Speech,” Winfrey compared Obama’s words to those of the civil-rights leader, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
“He’s not an African-American candidate,” she said. “He’s a candidate for Americans.” Winfrey threw her support behind Obama early — even before the Democratic primaries got under way last year. She’s stayed active since, hosting rallies and fundraisers that even Obama has acknowledged have given him a boost.

I just felt overwhelmed because all those videos I watched, the “Eyes on the Prize’s” the “Four Little Girls’”; all the books I read on MLK, Medger Evers, Rosa Parks, Emmett Till, etc.. All those seem not to be in vain because of yesterday. When you have people who arent Black moved to tears its something. I felt so proud to of course be an African American because of the struggle that we’ve overcame and one of the few times I can truly say I am proud to be an American. Yesterday will pale to comparison to the day that Obama actually is voted president but if you didnt feel that last nite than I believe youre lost. And also it being the 45 anniversary of MLK’s speech which was about giving Blacks the right to VOTE!!!?? Now less than 50 years later we have a Black man running for president??? Wow

I watched from beginning to end, his speech was amazing. The crowd and support from the sidelines with his family and Joe Biden and his wife seemed genuine and inspiring. I have to figure out how to get it from my Tivo to DVD. To be honest there has been times that I have felt the same way you do. All politicians are liars and crooks. But you have to look at it like this. Believe it or not, your vote counts. My father told me like this, voting is about choosing the lesser of two evils. As president there is only so much you can do because of the fact that to make changes there are other outlets you have to go through, such as Congress, in order to make things happen. Look at how the country is falling to pieces and the working cl***** people are being screwed more than ever. Young soldiers are being killed for a war that should’ve never happened. We’re on a downward spiral to a recession. These things are affecting all of us, black, white, latino…whatever. Politicians may be bad but you have to vote for the one that atleast gives hope for a change…and that’s Barack Obama. If people don’t get out and vote for this man and Mccain becomes president it’s going to get worse and worse.

I’m a little conflicted over Oprah feeling the need to say that he is not an African-American candidate though. The speech was great minus the last two minutes. He answered every criticism , question or complaint made about his candidacy. He went into policy, delivered the rhetoric and came across as a middle cl***** success story and transformational figure.
Then McCain announces a woman vice president and the game has changed. The race was close before, this will be a drag out fight now.

So then they looked at Mittens, but having a baker’s dozen homes wasn’t looking so hot. So he figured that with Pawlenty, he might make a play for Minnesota, but that got shot down over the last week as it become increasingly obvious that Biden would wipe the floor with him in their debate.
Throw in Obama’s ground-shifting speech last night, and it was clear that McCain had to throw a hail mary to just remain in the game, much less be competitive.
So we get Sarah Palin, who has a fairly compelling personal story and is an attractive woman, but has scant political experience, zero name recognition outside of political junky circles, faces an ethical investigation by her own legislature, and will now be forced to run a grueling national campaign despite having an infant child at home.

Instigating this war in Iraq has had a HUGE cause & effect on the economy ($12 billion per month spent) which in turn has affected my retirement funds and my son’s college education fund. You’re absolutely right, you should believe in the grind and getting your own money. But again, the policies put forth by politicians are going to affect the type of education you can afford and therefore the type of money you gonna make. Unfortunately in most of these situations it’s the black or latino that’s going to be affected adversely, which is why we CANNOT afford to put another Republican in office.

I’m not impressed with the selection, because it proves wow weak the Republicans are at this point, and just want to get votes. This woman lacks experience , Biden needs to attack that. You make good and compelling points but I still think that hail mary p***** is not a sure connect. Might be some fumbling on that p*****. With respect to the conservative base, one of the major points that you forgot is that one of their major ideals, albeit and unspoken one, is centered on the white, MALE ideology. What Palin has to say and her beliefs will not carry as much weight as if a white, conservative male was saying it.
You’re right though, Hillary did make herself seem bigger than the party and it now has the potential of biting us in the a*s. There is a strong possibility that come the debates, Palin has the potential to be exposed for her lack of overall experience and foreign experience as opposed to Biden. Foreign issues, ie, oil consumption, trade deficit, worldwide perception and, wars, being such a major player in this election will serve a vital purpose in swaying some of those independents and stragglers to the Democratic side.

Your right, my sisters husband is in the military, she has traveled all over the world with her husband, and she says that she will never return to the states to live. She says that we are suppose to be the land of the free but all we are free to do is work ourselves to death. She lived in germany for three yrs. They don’t pay for healthcare, their gov’t does. Their streets are so safe they can leave their doors open at night and not worry about being robbed. They can send their kids to school without worring about something happening to them. She said she never felt so free in all her life. We have so many problems in america, we are nowhere near the level of some of the other so-called bad countries. Another thing she mentioned is that americans don’t know that they are programmed. She says that the gov’t shows us what they want us to see, but when you actually experience another country you will find that things are different. Like in Iraq, the average american would think that entire country was at war, but she said that the war is in one or two parts, the majority of the country has never even seen war. They are just as modernized as america. Now ain’t that about some *****. They tell us what we should believe, but the only way you know the truth is when you experience it.

So again, I can’t speak for all of Bossip but I can say w/ some certainty that part of the apprehension is that a lot of the white women that are portrayed on Bossip that are w/ black men, you just get the feelin’ that it’s a money thing. I don’t think anyone has a problem where love is involved, but the perception is that someone like, Tiger Wood’s wife or Tim Duncan’s wife, well, they developed this love for a black man based more so on the size of his wallet.

Nothing wrong with a person being Muslim, or practicing Islamic faith, or a person running for President being Muslim. You may not identify Obama as a Muslim, that’s not how the Arab and Muslim Streets see it. In Arab culture and under Islamic law, if your father is a Muslim, so are you. And once a Muslim, always a Muslim. You cannot go back. In Islamic eyes, Obama is certainly a Muslim. He may think he’s a Christian, but they do not. Obama went to a Muslim school for two years in Indonesia. His mother, Anna, married an Indonesian man (likely another Muslim, as Indonesia is Muslim-dominated and has the largest Islamic population in the world).
Ok so what though…I understand the politics behind his name however I don’t see how the importance of his name translates into exceptional healthcare for all citizens of the United States just as it occurs in other nations of Europe

Healthcare is somewhat the least of our worries. Once the changes Codex Alimentarium go into effect, the FDA will apply radiation to our food. They claim we will never have to worry about E-Coli or Salmonella. But anyways once the apply radiation to our fruits and vegetable our food will have no nutritional worth. We are gonna need all of the free healthcare we can take.

I can tell you this, I think once Obama is elected gas will drop. I know gas has dropped a bit, but I mean really drop. Once the price of gas goes down, everything else will fall into place. I do have faith. Because in the end, God is what we have left. I have really been doing research for the past couple of years, more than I have ever been. This has really been an emotional election. I dont mean to offend people or anything ( I dont think Im offending you though), but I feel as though I should speak of what I have been studying. So many people have faith in this man, and everybody cannot wait for the first Black President, but I have come to the conclusion they are on the same side. I will not vote, however I will make a promise to support local people in my community for the uplifting of our people. You dont have to be a politician to do that.
