Jacksonville Jaquars offensive tackle Richard Collier was shot while waiting for some women outside an apartment early Tuesday and sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the *****ociate Press.
Collier, 26, and former Jaguars player Kenneth Pettway were waiting in a car when a gunman shot into the vehicle, said Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ken Jefferson. Collier was shot several times but it’s not clear where he was hit, and the sheriff’s office is still investigating.
Collier was in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, a hospital official said.
Earlier this year, the 6-foot-7, 350 pound lineman pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge stemming from an incident last fall, avoiding trial and accepting six months of probation.
Dats right I jacked the lives***** post for yal:
The third-year lineman was arrested on Nov. 3 after officers found him asleep behind the wheel of his sports utility vehicle at a McDonald’s drive-thru window, according to a police report. Collier failed field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol level of .096. In Florida, it is illegal to drive when a person’s blood-alcohol level reaches .08.
The football player’s attorney, Hank *****e disputed the police report and recommendeed that his client go to trial, but Collier didn’t want the team to have to deal with the negative attention that it would generate.
so close to first ….
can’t believe it. I just found this guy on LovingRich…com. I don’t think it is himself who created that account there.
Hope he gets better.
Jeez, All the money these men have. I guess that goes to show that poverty isn’t necessarily the precursor to being *****ed to violent behavior.
DAMN!! I HATE GUNS!!!
GUNS ARE FOR COWARDS!!!
Hope he has a speedy recovery!
damn another statistic…SMH I hope he recovers and get his sh*t together…not jumping to conclusions just observing and stating facts
Hope he recovers…. SMH
Really this is sad. I wish him well. Daxn, you cannot go anywhere.
Daxn, I thought the Mickey D’s up here was slow, he fell asleep waiting for his order! So much for fast food huh?
Sounds like a setup to me.
too many young people are getting shot over foolishness. These cowards with guns…..it’s just sad. Is it jealousy,envy,greed..? stupidity
What is with people shooting athletes? I am just torn to pieces about all these people getting shot, stabbed etc. I hope he gets well!
What is in the water in Jacksonville? Every time something ridiculous/tragic has happened lately seems to happen to a Jaquar.
I pray that he recovers fully…..
I wonder why is it that despite the fact that black men get the opportunity to have such great careers as atheletes, enterainers, etc and earn more money than the average person could ever imagine-they are still *****e to have financial problems, legal issues, become incarcerated, father illigetimate children, and become victims of violent shootings
I don’t even have to bother naming any of them, the list itself would be the length of a novel.
On this very site men constantly attack or berate women, black women specifically and the number one issue is “sex” we are either deemed as having too much sex hence we are hoes, or we have children w/o being married, unprotected sex will of course lead to pregnancy-happens within every race not just a black woman thing.
however black men cir*****stances are very unique than those of other races-no matter what their financial status or how successful they are in their careers-somehow these issues still plague them and why?
You have the opportunity of a lifetime and make more money than the average worker, but yet in still for whatever reasons fall prey to the issues prevalent in the ghetto and you no longer reside there-why???????
I rarely hear incidents of black women achieving financial success like that of athletes and entertainers and still being plagued with these type issues…….
AND TRUST ME THIS QUESTION IS BEING ASKED ALL OVER THE INTERNET, NOT JUST BY ME……SO DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER IT’S A VERY VALID QUESTION……
THE MEN ON THIS SITES WRITE PAGES AND PARAGRAPHS OF NONSENSE OF WHY BLACK WOMEN ARE SUCH HOES A DISGRACE UNDATEABLE ETC. IT’S TIME YOU POST YOUR VIEWS ON SOMETHING THAT DIRECTLY RELATES AND AFFECTS YOU….
DO SHARE…..
the women set him up
@intenzemocha
I hear what you’re saying. What I don’t understand is why o why do black men still feel the need to be in “the hood” when they have aacquired some money and fame. Like why? You think i’m going to be in certain areas if I get put on? yea right. No we don’t know the cir*****stances but so many times its happened to young black men w/ money it’s like wow. I know its hard to not wanna be around your old stomping grounds but if that means putting your life in danger, then I guess you have to deal with whatevr consequences come with them. Not me.
It’s self hate. They hate to see others doing good. We’re the only damn race that does this mess.
May God be with him.
the women set him up-ok how? let me guess they were promising some sex huh….
how about stop falling prey to groupies and con-artist women-they spot you a mile away and commence to plotting-you could throw a monkey wrench in their whole program if you slept with guess what your “girlfriend” oh my gasp or better yet “your wife” imagine that
these are no longer the days when we can continue to pat boys on the back for “no strings attached sex” cause the fact of the matter there are strings attached typically anyone willing to deal with you on the physical level w/o having some level of friendship or relationship means you no good and wants something in exchange-and some men are more than willing to slip someone the all mighty dollar in exchange for some “easy sex”
basically you are setting yourself up-when your dealing with someone solely on the basis of money, and you have the money-the other person is liable to get greedy.
yet in still I didn’t read that robbery was the motive for this act-I wouldn’t be suprised if bruised egos over some azz was the motive behind this violent act…..
I hate when people jump to conclusions about people they dont know. to WHOA!–for one he wasn’t in the hood. and to intenzemocha–he wasn’t promised sex and he wasnt waiting for groupies. i hate when people cast judgement and dont know the full story. rather than being so negative wish him well and pray for him. and pray that whoever did this gets caught. reading this negativity from people that cast judgement annoys the hell out of me, and it saddens me. Rich, I am praying for you and for your family. I wish you a speedy recovery. and to whoever did this, i pray for you as well. Gods wrath is something else to handle.
Oh I hope that he pulls through.

You aint NEVA LIED with this one right here. I agree wholeheartedly!!! I just stated above I guess its not just a poverty thing that makes black males *****ed to violence…
I wonder how the black males will respond to this one..
At this rate, we’ll shoot ourselves extinct
Fact
dont date hoodhos, date white hos, its safer.
They gon learn to leave them hoes in the street where you meet them. He & his friends picked up some tricks and was taken them somewhere to drop off their car.
Set up?
“dont date hoodhos, date white hos, its safer.”
It figures you would have no real response to intermozchas very excellent point.. Just more black woman bashing.. Thats why you ignorant *****s are being killed off right now.. That’s why even when you have money you’re still the same s***** you always were…
Jack*****!!
“dont date hoodhos, date white hos, its safer.”
“They gon learn to leave them hoes in the street where you meet them. He & his friends picked up some tricks and was taken them somewhere to drop off their car.
Set up?”
This wasn’t no “ho”.. This was typical s***** negro behavior catch up to this clown!!
SMDH
better a *****s money go to a white ho than a hoodho. All you hoodhos gonna do is waste it on weeves and goin to the swapmeet.
“better a *****s money go to a white ho than a hoodho. All you hoodhos gonna do is waste it on weeves and goin to the swapmeet.”
LOL @ Marquis… Dude – grow some nuts, huh??? A hood ho has nothing to do with this gutter ***** still getting into violent issues even though he has risen financially. I guess black males are just ***** ups all around, huh?!?!? Maybe the dumb***** black male should worry less about hoodhos and more about his safety and rising about the same old animalistic behaviors he covets so strongly!!
@ intenzemocha:
I guess you handed Marquis his nuts with your response cause now he’s up in here under one of his multiples talking trash cause he knows his “Marquis de Clown” identity has no intelligent response..
This ***** is trife… Hope he makes it…
Sad news. People still don’t understand that gun violence can happen anywhere. There is a reason why successful black folks sellout. They want to live without fear of foolish dudes shooting at them.
See that’s what I’m talking about-where is hotsauce and the rest of his posse
there is always plenty of posts and dialogue when we are degrading our black women but now the topic has turned to black men-wow no responses ha
all I’m saying is there should be equal dialogue when discussing the both sexes, it’s no coincidence that because the post specifically related to black men “none of them” very few chose to post…let me guess they are all probably on the teairra marie post calling a w***** at this very minute-lol typical and my exact point
you have so much advice & lectures on morals etc. when it comes to the women of our community-but become deaf, dumb, mute, & blind when the opportunity arises to discuss your own current cir*****stances……stop making black women your crutches and deal with your own issues as a matter of fact don’t speak on any situations that involve black women until you correct your own-
how bout that!
“Sad news. People still don’t understand that gun violence can happen anywhere. There is a reason why successful black folks sellout. They want to live without fear of foolish dudes shooting at them.”
I doubt very seriously this guy was living in the hood. When you are violence *****ed, violence will follow you… This has nothing to do with a successful black person moving out of the hood. This is about keeping your nose clean and really having no reason not to!!
@ me not once did i say he was waiting for promised sex, read the poster below my initial post who said he was set up by some chicks
and again my post doesn’t specifically deal with this one particular incident per se but numerous incidents that involve black male athletes & entertainers
what rock are you hiding under this in fact is a trend and *****ody has attempted to elaborate as to why these issues plague black men after they are no longer poverty stricken-the mindset
ok let’s do it biggie, tupac, michael vicks, kobe bryant (rape), allen iverson, etc. shall I name more this incident just prompted a very valid discussion and point I was interested in hearing the brothas elaborate on and of course dead silence or they have of course used their crutch and excuse for everything when sh#t doesn’t go right in their lives-the black woman
And for the record, in my initial post I did wish him well
but let’s not miss the opportunity to discuss why are situations like this constantly happening to black atheletes specifically-
don’t get mad at me fox sports posed the same damn question but of course if the question comes from a man it’s legitimate if it comes from a black woman then I’m male bashing-lol go figures
“all I’m saying is there should be equal dialogue when discussing the both sexes, it’s no coincidence that because the post specifically related to black men “none of them” very few chose to post…let me guess they are all probably on the teairra marie post calling a w***** at this very minute-lol typical and my exact point”
AMEN – thats exactly what I was thinking. They probably can’t respond because they’re too busy in another post *****g the hell out of black women!!! SAD SAD SAD!!
“ok let’s do it biggie, tupac, michael vicks, kobe bryant (rape), allen iverson, etc. shall I name more this incident just prompted a very valid discussion and point I was interested in hearing the brothas elaborate on and of course dead silence or they have of course used their crutch and excuse for everything when sh#t doesn’t go right in their lives-the black woman”
AMEN Girl.. AMEN!!!
And oh yeah, why is it all of a sudden violence isn’t funny anymore and should be taken seriously-it seemed pretty funny last week when many of you posters male/female was laughing about the pregnant woman getting her lip busted right?
this is the exact thing I am talking about men want and expect sympathy, comp*****ion, and understanding when something happens to them but when it happens to a woman where is the comp*****ion and the sympathy then?
Now all of a sudden we’re sensitive now-let me guess this is much more serious, well ole girl and her baby could have been seriously hurt too-but *****ody gave a damn then!
:0

Girl you’re on FIRE today!!
@SMDH
I just picked up the torch you were carrying last week….
Too bad no intelligent brothers bothered to get in on the discussion-I really wanted to hear their opinions and I love a man that can hold his own in a conversation and trust me I’ve had enough debates to know that all you need is an opinon to have a challenging debate and the facts to back it up…..
I enjoy lively debates especially from an competent opposer that can hold their own-I may not agree or I may not appear to agree but I am listening and might even change my opinion if they are really good….
girl you are right on point-who knows maybe we might not be on the same side one day on a certain topic and we can have a friendly debate-it would be an honor to debate with the likes of you
@ intenze . . . very good question. each man’s trouble has to be explained the particulars of his own condition, of course. and character — the X factor in anyone’s condition — is more complex than “race” or culture, so any explanation that emerges is likely to be too complex for easy judgements.
But since none of us are here for that kind of rabbinical parsing of anyone’s life, let’s float a few quick and costly conjectures, shall we?
My first thought when reading this story was that Bossip headline writers should look at the pictures while they’re writing the heads. This one sounds like the guy who got shot is the ugly head of violence.
My second thought, in your response to your question was:
a)we need to reconsider the inferiority hypothesis as at least tenable. Black men find ourselves in this kind of disorder because we really can’t do any better. We are not smart enough to make different decisions, nor do we have the discipline to stick to those decisions if we could make them. The real question then is why aren’t we all dead?
I know this idea is taboo, but I do think there’s an irreducible quality to blackness that would leave us in a desperate condition even if all our external impediuments were taken away. It may be something mundane, like the statistically higher amounts of testerone in the black male population in comparison with men of other races. Or it may be something a little more enigmatic and unscientific, a will to self-destruction bred in our bones and egged on by our culture. For all I know, it may be a curse from God. You have to entertain unusual possibilities for some phenomena.
b) Much of the violence we do each other could be explained by the eminence we give youth in black culture. American popular culture is youth culture. It draws its leading values — vitality, brashness, inventiveness, naivete, openness — from the worldview of adolescence. Black culture values youthfulness even more intensely. But because of a curious quirk in black psychology, our youthfulness has to be racialized. It has to be young and black, so it draws from that subgroup the values they seem to live by: aggression, vulgarity, recklessness, toughness, pugnacity, nihilism (plus vitality, inventiveness, etc.).
Given how important it is to individuals of any culture to be in fashionable conformity with the values and lifestyles of their civilization, it would take heroic will to repudiate those values, that culture. The thing about heroism is that it needs a figurehead, a model of transcendent individuality. But those models are produced only at a certain point of cultural advancement. Black culture, arguably, is in a regressive point in its life cycle. Our failure, as a culture, to articulate a progressive standard of mind and behavior over the last 30 years has left us in a frustrating stasis of repeating worn-out war cries of victimization and now bankrupt demands for entitlements and remittances. We haven’t been able to produce a civilizational hero; Biggie and Tupac, etc.,etc., are just subculture figures for a stage of frenzied adolescence.
The very curious thing about the Obama phenomenon is the hunger of Black Americans to identify with his success (if not him), even though, looking at him closely, he is a kind of antithesis of contemporary black American life. He’s a repudiation of the lives we’ve lived, not its idealized outcome. He is more a cultural hybrid than a racial one. He is a civilizational hero because of his limited contact with black experience. He had a wider, deeper pool of values to draw from. Unless Mr. Obama made it his mission to lead us away from blackness as we know it toward the broader precincts of experience, there is very, very little he can do for us. This is a disappointment we are going to learn very shortly if he wins the presidency.
Sorry for the long and pedantic post, Intenze, but I really love the question. I’d like to finish by saying that the evidence of real life convinces me that most black men are very capable, very decent, and not living as shabbily as the headlines would try to make us think. Nonetheless, I also believe we have a large, irredeemable core (and they are a core; they’re the bottom most of us evolve from and their savagery is buried in our instincts). They know only how to destroy. If we don’t renounce them, we’ll never be free of them.
Probably what black men need to evolve as a group is a cultural mutation. Hip-hop isn’t it. It’s an occasionally beautiful urban art, but it’s just kids at play. Personally, I don’t think art is where we ought to be looking for that mutation. We should aim higher, toward a more cultivated form of intelligence. Don’t know what that is yet, but I keep my eyes out for the mutants all the time.

Girl I got your back!! Thats why I’m hanging around this post.. I am waiting for some black woman basher to respond but I get so much satisfaction out of seeing them not say *****!!!
The problem with black men is once they make it out of the hood they can’t stop visiting. They can’t identify with their black neighbors with money because they did not earn their money keeping their nose in a book. These men don’t get the chance to learn and grow. They are being plucked right out of high school. The reason why they keep going back to the hood is because it makes him seem educated and smarter than his hood peers. It’s ok to go back to the hood , but only if you are trying to build it up not just visit and walk away.
How do we know this was the hood? Ok it seems like it but no proof. So lets stop *****uming it was the hood. Another point why don’t he send a driver to pick up his women and bring them whereever he is.
mocha ho
violence to a ***** aint funny cuz this ***** has value. Its funny when it happens to a hoodho or golddigger cuz they aint got no value. Now if the ***** had value like megan good, coco, kim kadashean then that would be *****ked up unless they came out of pocket. I hope that ansered yo question hoodho.
@intenzemocha, I hear you 1000%. I agree to the 100th power. The ones that get on here and flap their lips talking shat aren’t worth the time and energy b/c you wouldn’t want them anyway – at least I wouldn’t. Of course they give a p***** to any “other” female b/c they have issues far deeper than their distaste for black women. We have stood the test of time and there is no way in hell that I will let anyone, including black men, make me feel less than. We have to know who we are, and shake the negative. It’s tough b/c it comes at us like gangbusters, but like Gloria Gaynor said, “I will survive.”
@intenzemocha, some brothers fail to see their shortcomings. It’s easier to point the finger at someone else instead of looking at the man in the mirror. I heard Tamia say, “Self actualization is a hard thing to do.” Usually when someone has such contempt for others like some of the black men on here, there are deeper issues at play. It’s not our problem, but theirs. We can’t change them so it’s hopeless until they start paying attention to their issues instead of slamming on black women.
SMDH, you are always on point.
The club he was at is NOT in the ghetto. And why are you all acting like he deserved to get shot- why because he has money and had the audacity to go to a club and talk to some girls??? Which is what broke dudes do all night every night in every club and club parking lot in America. Let me say this dudes here in Duval are haters to the athletes- especially the drug dealers- they are mad because they have legitimate money. So does that mean all the Jaguars should stay home 24/7? I don’t know I guess its on them. But SMDH- I really wish you would get some therapy for your hatred of the black man. I have been reading your self hatred posts for the past year and this just was it for me. All black men do not hate black women-get over yourself. I could never understand why you care about any black man who chooses to date outside his race anyway. If you don’t want him why does it bother YOU????
it’s just ridiculous how all these football players keep getting shot.
ny2duval
you see the judgement too don’t you. like they are blaming the victom for being a victom. for one. riverside isn’t the hood and martini mondays is def. not in the hood. so people cast judgement because it was an athlete at a club and involving women. they make *****umptions. then they try to validate their *****umptions to get a male response about other issues going on in the community. men calling women hoes has nothing to do with the post at hand. so take that concern to a post that doesn’t involve such a sensitive issue. all this debate going at hand people need to see the big picture. families across america face such tragedy everyday. why don’t we dabate why fathers are leaving their children and mothers to fend for themselves in americas ghettos, and why some mothers are choosing drugs over their family, and why some women won’t get off their *****es and find a job but insist on living in section 8. why don’t we talk about black men on the street selling drugs and doing things they have no business doing. why don’t we talk about the lack of funds in the inner city ghettos. there are much more important things to talk about then the way the black man goes back to the hood and bla bla bla. talk about getting the black child out of the hood…and educating that black child to be a productive adult. and educating these young black women to be better mothers. and someone teaching these young black men to be productive in this society. people community, cus some gossip website isn’t doing ***** for your neighbor. its just entertaining you while you sit on your ***** in front of your damn desk. take all this energy you have and put it to use please. i’m so annoyed with all these damn post people trying to seem better than the next man.
he looks so young… Seems I saw him before on the celebrities-club LovingRich…com……Fans would be very surprised if they met him there.
Jags’ Collier shot, has life-threatening injuries
By MARK LONG and RON WORD – 2 hours ago
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier was shot and critically wounded outside an apartment building early Tuesday as he and a former teammate waited for two women they had met at a nightclub, police said.
Collier, 26, and former Jaguars defensive end Kenneth Pettway were waiting in a Cadillac Escalade when a gunman fired into the vehicle, said Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ken Jefferson. Collier was shot several times, but it wasn’t clear where he was hit.
Collier was in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said early Tuesday. Later, spokesman Chris Turner said the hospital was no longer giving updates on Collier’s condition. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Collier’s family had requested privacy.
Several Jaguars, including running back Maurice Jones-Drew, offensive tackle Khalif Barnes and linebackers Mike Peterson and Clint Ingram, gathered at the hospital. Others convened at Jacksonville Muni*****l Stadium.
“The guys are in shock,” Pro Bowl running back Fred Taylor said. “You see this kind of thing happen all the time on TV, but you never expect it in your own backyard. He’s a good dude. I just pray for him and his family and wish the best for them. I’m sure he’ll pull through.”
Del Rio said the entire organization paused Tuesday, taking a break from game planning for the season opener at Tennessee and focusing on what he called “a very unfortunate incident, really, really a shame.”
“Right now, he’s battling for his life,” Del Rio said on his weekly radio show Tuesday night. “All we can do right now is pray for healing. We have no control over that situation other than saying some prayers.”
Del Rio added that the team would “be fine.”
“We’re going to play football,” he said. “But this is not about football. This is about life. This is about a man right now dealing with his body being put to the test, whether or not he can overcome these types of things. When you’re in critical condition in the hospital, it’s very, very serious. And that’s what this is.”
The motive behind the attack was unknown, and the sheriff’s office was investigating. Pettway, who was released in final cuts Saturday, was not injured.
The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. in a middle- to upper middle-cl***** neighborhood just west of downtown Jacksonville and blocks from the St. Johns River. The players had gone to the apartment complex so the women could drop off their car, authorities said.
The women, who appeared to be in their 20s, declined comment when they were escorted by police back to the complex midmorning Tuesday. One was wearing a short, silver dress and the other was wearing a short, black one.
Collier is the third NFL player to be shot in the past 18 months. Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor was fatally shot during what police said was a botched burglary attempt at his Miami-area home in November. Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed when his rented limousine was sprayed with bullets minutes after leaving a New Year’s party at a club in 2007.
The shooting also was the latest in a long list of off-the-field troubles for the Jaguars. Taylor was charged with disorderly conduct over the weekend. Receiver Matt Jones is facing a felony drug charge in Arkansas. In all, the team has had 11 players arrested in the last two years.
But Del Rio said he disagreed with anyone wanting to lump Collier’s shooting in with some of the team’s other recent troubles.
“He was out last night, enjoying himself, having a good time, being responsible,” the coach said. “I take offense to people that insinuate and call that a lack of discipline or a lack of responsibility. There are no rules about being out on a Monday night before your day off the following day.
“Listen, a person got shot. The guy who shot the gun is the problem, not the guy who got shot. He’s the victim. He was victimized. You ought to be able to go out and have a good time and go back home and not be worried about being killed or being put in the hospital with bullet holes.
“I take offense to people who are out there lumping together and trying to make this an issue of team discipline. This is a disciplined football team. This is a big blow, but let’s not put the blame on the wrong person or the wrong situation. The person that pulled the trigger is the person that’s wrong.”
Collier, entering his third season, made the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2006. He competed for the starting job at left tackle this preseason but was beaten out by Barnes.
Still, the Jaguars believe Collier could be a future starter. They signed him to a contract extension earlier this year despite an arrest last season.
The 6-foot-7, 345-pound linemen was arrested Nov. 3 after officers found him asleep behind the wheel at a McDonald’s drive-thru window. Collier failed field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol level of .096, according to police. In Florida, it is illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher.
Collier was suspended two games and fined.
His attorney disputed the police report and recommended that his client go to trial, but Collier didn’t want the team to have to deal with the negative attention it would have generated. So he pleaded no contest and accepted six months of probation and a suspension of his driver’s license.
Coming out of high school in Shreveport, La., Collier didn’t have the grades or test scores to attend most colleges, so he stayed home with his mother and got a job in the produce department at Wal-Mart.
He worked there for two years before deciding to give football another chance. He enrolled at Tyler Junior College in Texas, about 90 miles west of Shreveport. He showed up weighing 390 pounds, having not lifted a weight since high school.
Collier quickly got his grades — and body — in shape and worked his way into the starting lineup. He transferred to Valdosta State in 2004 and helped the Blazers win the Division II national championship that season. He earned All-America honors as a senior in 2005, yet still failed to impress many NFL scouts.
The Jaguars were the only team to bring Collier in for a workout before the draft, so signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie was an easy decision. His only other choice, he thought, was to go back to the produce section.
“It took me to lose everything to recognize how much I had,” Collier said during his rookie season. “It was a blessing, really. I found out how it would be if I didn’t work hard and apply myself.”

Yes “me” I see the judgement as usual- everybody can sit at their little desk and play God and act like they know it all and are better than everybody else. I hope the above article shows something about this mans character. Somebody who worked hard to get to where he is but is still not perfect- none of us are. But he is not a violent person and in no way did he deserve what happened to him. He was doing what most men do after the club- probably trying to go to breakfast or hook up with women. I doubt the women had anything to do with it- why would they take him to where they lived only to have him shot. But I do know that the area that they live is very close to the club- so it is possible he was followed. But that could happen to anybody. And please note the article states- “middle to upper middle cl***** neighborhood” NOT THE HOOD come on people lets get it together and stop the self hate – yes i am talking to you SMDH
*****ody is blaming the victim to say the least just pointing out a pattern-c’mon people stop being shallow and touching the surface of the conversation both of you “me” and “ny2duval” know good and damn well we aren’t just specifically taking this one incident and saying this man per se for what has happened to him..not back peddling not one bit but what I am saying is this we were so quick to judge those other women who were victims of crime on this very same blog and we even laughed and joked about it, and went as far as to say she deserved it and all i am saying one you condone one act of violence no matter how miniscule you believe to be it only opens the door to more violence and even death-in our community or in society as a whole no one person’s live should be deemed as less valuable than the other when that is done then really you are tearing at the seams of morality and the lines begin to blur-if black women and our chidren are deemed as less valuable or favorable, then when something happens to us we don’t rally or better yet the men who should protect us laugh, degrade, and humiliate, and even blame us for what happened to us, but on the other hand a black man because he has made it out the hood and is an athlete is deemed more valuable and worthy than we are, and guess what some man and I will make the *****umption a man of color-who didn’t get the memo that athletes with dough aren’t on the less valued list, still shot his azz ya dig
all I’m saying is no one life is more or less valauble than the other and when we lessen one act of violence or better yet blame one victim for being violated and not the other then you are setting the standards that “that value varies from person to person” right?
So don’t patronize me with the cir*****stances sorrounding this unfortunate situation-the sh#t is what it is all day long-and we all as a whole have created our current cir*****stances when we say that any “one” person life is less valuable than another-
don’t blame me for pointing out the blatant disparities between the pregnant woman who got her azz whupped and this man getting shot-hell what do you expect if you laughed at that then why is this not funny as well????????? When we tolerate any act of violence or justify it with any type of rationale then all lives are at risk-because the whole world knows that we as a black community have basically punked out as a whole and we will justify and rationalize anything so we can sleep at night if we blame the victim-hey they brought on themselves that’s so much easier than actually uniting & taking a stand against the violent perpetrator- just to think our ancestors died for us to have the right to vote, to be free, and for us to have the right to get an education and earn equal salaries as those of whites, and we are to damn weak to stand up to the punks in our neighborhoods, and what’s really sad is I’m a woman a black woman at that, and 9 times out of 10 when there is a trigger being pulled it’s by the hands of a black man-if more of you were home raising your children & with black women we could could fight against violence together as a “black family” but what yall don’t see is that’s the root of the problem-
BLACK MEN RETURN HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES, SHOW UP IN OUR COMMUNITIES, PROTECT WOMEN AND CHILDREN, AND STAND UP TO THESE CRIMINALS IN OUR STREETS-IT’S STARTS WITH YOU-A STRONG BLACK FAMILY BEGINS WITH YOU!
BLACK MEN NEED TO REFLECT ON WHAT CAUSES THEM TO FACE THE SAME DEMISE AS A DOPE DEALER IN THE HOOD-THERE IS NO DAMN WAY YOU SHOULD BE EARNING THAT KIND OF MONEY AND HAVE A SUCCESSFUL CAREER AS THAT AND YOU STILL END UP END UP GETTING SHOT UP, IMPREGNATING JUMP OFFS, & HAVING FINANCIAL & LEGAL PROBLEMS
WE ARE SO SENSITIVE WHEN WE PUT A MIRROR UP TO BLACK MEN-BUT IT’S OKAY TO TEAR DOWN BLACK WOMEN WHO STAY IN OUR COMMUNITIES, WHO RAISE THE KIDS THAT THESE MEN LEAVE BEHIND, WHO WORK FULL TIME JOBS, AND MANAGE TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE-RESEARCH THE STATISTICS OH YES IT’S BEING DONE AND WITHOUT THE HELP OF A MAN
HELL IT’S NOT MY FAULT OR MY THEORY FOX SPORTS STATED THE SAME DAMN THING-WHY ARE SO MANY BLACK RICH ATHLETES BEING SHOT? IT’S A GOOD DAMN QUESTION WHY ARE THEY???-THIS ISN’T JUST ONE ISOLATED INCIDENT-SO GET OFF THAT SOAP BOX YOUR SITTING ON AND DISCUSS THE ISSUE & STOP ATTACKING ME BECAUSE YOU CAN’T BEGAN TO FATHOM AN INTELLIGENT RESPONSE AS TO WHY-
MOST OF THESE ATHLETES ARE NOT VICTIMS IN MANY WAYS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THEIR CIR*****STANCES- OLD HABITS DIE HARD, AND STOP STUNTIN AROUND GOONS AND THINKING YOUR UNTOUCHABLE-WHEN YOU ACHIEVE A CERTAIN STATUS IT’S TIME TO LEAVE CERTAIN PEOPLE & PLACES ALONE POINT BLANK PERIOD
I DON’T NEED TO RUN OFF MY RESUME ON HERE ABOUT WHAT I DO & HOW I HELP MY COMMUNITY-EVERYBODY I KNOW THAT I PUMP WITH PERSONALLY IS EMPLOYED, EDUCATED (THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION OR SELF-TAUGHT) AN ACTIVE IN THEIR COMMUNITY-HAVING A GOOD JOB & NICE THINGS DON’T MEAN ANYTHING IF YOU DON’T GIVE BACK TO YOUR COMMUNITY -MY WORDS ALONE ARE THOSE OF AN ACTIVIST WHERE ELSE WOULD MY KNOWLEDGE COME FROM? DAMN SURE DIDN’T GET IT FROM HIDING BEHIND A KEYBOARD…….
OK- I actually was speaking to SMDH but maybe you two are one in the same…”hiding behind a keyboard” one can have multiple identities. But I never said an athletes life was more valuable than the next persons life. But I did say I have a problem with people acting like he had it coming. But the truth of the matter alot of black men get shot every night athlete or non athlete. So maybe the media wants to make out as “athletes” getting shot. But really its just black men getting shot. Look the main person hyping up the cause of black people getting it together Mr. Bill Cosby- what happened to his black son- shot and killed. So don’t misinterpret what I was tring to say I never said his life was more valuable but I do think as a human being he deserves NOT to be judged because he is an athlete who was out having a good time on the night before his day off. Don’t we all deserve that???
And as far as Ms. Henry- the woman who was slapped(not beaten as some are saying- because no way a man is going to BEAT a small woman and all she has is a scratch above her lip) NO violence is never the answer. But to compare her scratch to gunshot wounds is really pushing the limits. People were laughing because it was a non life threatening issue with her- she had a scratch and she is claiming permanent facial disfigurement- so yes that is funny. And as far as her child being in danger- everybody said she was going off and causing an argument at the club. It seems the new girlfriend and Northcutt were smart enough to stay out of it physically. Obviously the cousin was not as smart and has a temper and felt like he should ***** smack her. Is that right? No. Was she right confronting people at a club and putting her unborn childs life in danger NO. Verbal confrontations are violence as well.
COMPREHENSION IS A MOTHA
WHERE IN ANY POST DID ANYONE STATE HE DESERVED ANY DAMN THING?
IT’S OBVIOUS YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO LIKES TO DISAGREE FOR THE SAKE OF DISAGREEING OR ARGUE JUST TO HEAR THEMSELVES TALK WITH NO REAL GOAL IN MIND
SMDH IS NOT ME AND I AM NOT HER WE HAPPEN TO THINK SIMILARLY ON THIS PARTICULAR SUBJECT
BUT ANY HOW-YOU MINIMIZING AND STATING THAT OLE GIRL GETTING SMACKED WAS EVEN A BIT FUNNY JUST SHOWS YOUR MIND SET-THE POINT IS A SLAP CAN ESCALATE TO SOMEONE GETTING KILLED-WE SHOULDN’T CONDONE ANY ACT OF VIOLENCE
WHEN YOU DO-ALL ACTS OF VIOLENCE ARE MINIMIZED HENCE THE GROWING RATE OF BLACK ON BLACK CRIME-AND VERY LITTLE ACTION FROM THE BLACK COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE WE HAVE BECOME TOO DESENSITIZED
BUT AGAIN-YOU ARE OUT TO MAKE A POINT AND LOGIC HAS OBVIOUSLY ELUDED YOU-SO YOU READ MY WORDS ALREADY PREPARED TO COUNTER ATTACK
I’M JUST SAYING WHAT HAS BEEN AND IS BEING SAID BY MANY-AND AS LONG AS PEOPLE LIKE YOU CONTINUE THINKING THE WAY YOU DO-WE’LL CONTINUE AS A PEOPLE TO DO WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW TO FIGHT THE VIOLENCE NOT A DAMN THING BUT FIGHT ONE ANOTHER
MY SISTER YOU CAN’T BE THAT BLIND NOT TO SEE THAT LITTLE INCIDENTS OF VIOLENCE CAN AND TYPICALLY DO ADVANCE TO KILLINGS
DO YOU KNOW HOW OUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT PREDICT FUTURE MURDERS BY THE INCIDENTS OF REPORTED *****AULTS-THEY TOO KNOW THAT A SMALL ACT OF VIOLENCE MAY LEAD TO MURDER
SO GET YOUR MIND RIGHT MY COMPARISON JUST SHOWS HOW IGNORANT PEOPLE ARE TO ACT ALL SURPRISE WHEN A MAN GETS SHOT COLD BLOOD-WHEN YESTERDAY WE WAS TEE HEE HAAING ABOUT A PREGNANT WOMAN GETTING HER AZZ BEAT AND WHAT’S SAD IS THAT YOU DON’T SEE THE CORRELATION
AND IT’S SO FUNNY IF YOU RE-READ THE POST ABOUT THE WOMAN BEING OUT-DIDN’T PEOPLE JUDGE HER FOR BEING OUT AT THE CLUB FOR JUST HAVING A NIGHT OF FUN, CALLED HER A GOLD DIGGING HOE, AND IRREGARDLESS OF WHAT SHE “SAID” SHE DIDN’T HIT ANYONE RIGHT?
AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING SISTER, FOR A LONG TIME WOMEN LIKE YOU AND BEFORE YOU HAVE SET BACK AND EXCUSED BAD BEHAVIOR BY OUR BOYS BUT IN THE SAME BREATH CHASTIZED OUR GIRLS-YOU SOUND LIKE ONE OF THEM-LIFE IS FULL CIRLCE AND TRUST AND BELIEVE YOU ME ONE DAY YOU WILL SEE THAT “EVERYONE MAN OR WOMAN” SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR “THEIR” ACTIONS AND IF YOU ALLOW ONE “VICTIM” TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR *****AULT-PEOPLE WILL MAKE THE SAME ARGUMENT THAT “THE SHOT ATHLETE” CONTRIBUTED TO HIS *****AULT-IS IT RIGHT NO BUT THE COMPARISON IS THE SAME THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS ONE IS A BLACK MAN AND ONE IS A BLACK WOMAN AND IT’S OBVIOUS THAT “THE BLACK MAN” RECEIVED MUCH MORE SYMPATHY THAN “THE BLACK WOMAN” AND YOU WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT’S BECAUSE HER INJURIES WEREN’T LIFE THREATENING-IT COULD HAVE BEEN AND I DOUBT SHE WOULD RECEIVE AS MUCH SYMPATHY EVEN THEN
YOUR BOY HOT SAUCE PUT IT BEST SHE’S A HOOD HO AND THAT’S WHY-AND WHAT’S EVEN SAID IS WOMAN LIKE YOU BUY INTO THAT……GET YOUR MIND RIGHT YOUR A WOMAN AND YOU CAN’T BE THAT BLIND TO NOT SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOW BLACK MEN AND WOMEN ARE VIEWED AND TALKED ABOUT ON THIS VERY BLOG
AND IF THAT WERE YOU OR YOUR DAUGHTER-I DOUBT YOU WOULD HAVE FOUND THE SITUATION FUNNY AT ALL-BUT LET ME GUESS YOU WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN POPPIN OFF AT THE MOUTH, YOU WOULDN’T BE IN THAT SITUATION, YOU KEEP ON LIVING IT JUST MAY BE IF A MAN WILL RAISE HIS HAND TO STRIKE THAT WOMAN HE WILL STRIKE ANY WOMAN-INCLUDING YOU AND YOU WON’T BE LAUGHING THEN WILL YOU……
i can agree with alot of your points and I am not trying to disagree for the sake of disagreeing. In fact I was directing my comments to another person and any others who felt like he had it coming to him or where making *****umptions that were not true. For the record I never thought Ms. Henry getting smacked was funny- I think her civil suit is a joke however that just holds up to the woman stereotype of gold digging. Why is she not suing the person who smacked her? Because that is not where the big payout is. But as a woman who has been physically abused I do not condone or find any act of violence funny or amusing I was just pointing out why others found it funny- the extreme exaggeration on her part to try and get some money.

intenzemocha he is a victim you act like you blaming him for getting shot, as in black men be always gettin shot, what it is, is a shame, bb king and all the old school players still go in the hood to hang. the problem is these crack babies done come of age and we as a society have to deal with them, that’s the shame.
what a perfect 4rum, ha
