For the first time, the weekly magazine decided to do a double cover: Barack Obama and family grace the front cover, while Sarah Palin and baby son Trig are on the back. “Politics and the future of America are certainly on everyone’s minds. So OK! decided to try something different this week, giving readers two covers and two interesting features on candidates from both parties. It’s a special edition, something we’ve never done before, and we hope they enjoy.”
And speaking of Palin and her expectant daughter, a fellow teen mom is reaching out. A source close to Beverly Hills baby store Petit Tresor says that a member of the Spears family sent Bristol Palin a gift from Plainmary.com on behalf of Jamie Lynn. “It was ordered by phone, and they asked what could be done for under $100. They spent $60 on pink burpcloths.”

I don’t like the idea that these two 17 year old kids are being forced to get married for a damn image..The guy who knocked up Palin’s daughter has stated that he doesn’t want to get married or have children..You have two teenagers who were casually screwing and probably don’t love each other and weren’t in a real realationship being pushed into a fake ***** shotgun wedding to protect Sarah Palin’s candidacy..In my opinion the damage is already done why get married?..Just more evidence of the Rupublican hipocraci.

I agree with you 100% It’s unfortunate that the Palin family is going through this, but I really question the judgement of the GOP. Did they think this would really appease the Hillary voters and undecided independent female voters?
I’m also sick of people comparing the PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE to the VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE!!!! It’s insulting to the Obamas, and to the Palin. The Palin family is being used in the worst way. I’m wondering if the Republicans are trying to throw the election so if Obama effs up, they can run in and “save the day”.

Pregnancy is the problem of the girl who got pregnant. She has definitely chosen a more difficult path in life. It hardly seems the responsibility of any parent to take on a grandchild unless they choose to do so. If I were in Sarah Palin’s shoes, I definitely would not give up my job just because my daughter chose to have unprotected sex; therefore, became pregnant. Since her daughter is 17, I would leave the responsibility to the daughter to raise her own child. Being a young mother, I chose to keep my baby at 19 and I did not expect my parents to help me out. I was the one who took on the responsibility. It was also very important for me to tell my child about the the birds and the bees when she became of age. I have no grandchildren yet and I am nearing retirement. We both have our college degrees and have well-paying jobs. So history most times does not repeat if we teach our children to protect themselves and to better themselves.
Just bc a teenager has a baby doesn’t mean she is trash. Anyone having sex can be a MOM, it just means that a mistake happened. I think you all a being a bit harsh …

The Republican party is trying to use Palin’s pregnant daughter to humanize her and give her the average woman next door imange because they feel like more people will relate to her if she has everyday flaws just like the rest of us..One news anchor stated that “Sharah is more normal unlike Obama we don’t really know anything about him” what the hell else is there to know about the man? Just because you can’t find any legitament dirt on him does that mean he’s not normal, does a shadey past make you more human? If Barack had a mistress, a drug habit, or a list of DUI’s they would use that to tear him apart more than make him the average guy next door, he would be unfit to lead the country.
And believe me Rupblicans aren’t proud of this woman, this is all part of a “United Front” bull***** smoke screen.

I agree with you. I don’t think it’s right to attack the children involved.
What bothers me is how people don’t understand how they’re doing a disservice to themselves, and their children, by teaching abstinence only. I think the Republicans are trying so hard to present a unified front when many people, not the leaders, of course, do not agree with the Palin pick.
My problem with Governor Palin is that she’s the governor of a state that has the highest chlamydia rate in the nation, and also has one of the highest pregnancy rates (and this is not counting their native indian population as they would like people to believe).
When you don’t take actions to prevent pregnancies, you’re losing your populations and tax dollars. Sex education isn’t to encourage sex, it’s to teach you about your bodies. I know plenty of young women who didn’t know they were pregnant, sex education teaches you about the body and the changes of pregnancy. Imagine how many babies can be saved and how many teen mothers (and adult mothers) would receive adequate care in the early stages of pregnancy if they knew. Too many young people have the attitude of “if I pretend the baby’s not there, it will go away”. Imagine how it would change if a young woman, who is uncertain about being in the early stages of pregnancy, was able to go to a clinic and receive prenatal care, instead of not taking the right supplements and not receiving care to insure her safety and the safety of her unborn child.
I can’t understand how someone who’s pro-life can be against sex ed. Sex is a part of life, it’s a gift from God, and yes, we all hope and pray that children will wait, but it’s not the reality. The reality is Bristol Palin, Jamie Lynn Spears, Solange Knowles, the list goes on and on. Unless we educate ourselves and our children, we’ll continue to pay the price with their childhoods.
That gift was whack. Straight up and is Jamie Lynn fittin to send pink burp cloths to all the pregnant teens out there? PLEASE

I just hate the fact that the media is really comparing this woman to Obama. They are in no way shape or fashion alike. He is running for president and she is running for vp. I think they compare them because the republicans know that mccain has no experience outside being a senator. They use this woman’s status of being a governor and mayor at one point to try and say she’s more experienced than Obama. So why didn’t she run for president then? Anyways they are trying to cover up the fact that McCain and Obama have the same experience as far as being senators and the fact that mcCain wants to use his “war hero” slogan to create even more war.

Did you watch the Today show this morning where Meredith got on Juliani? She asked him does he think Palin is qualified for the job on such short notice. He said of course you can pick a vp running mate in a day if you ask the right questions and she’s been a mayor and governor so she has more experience than obama and biden put together. Meredith said so that means she has more experience than your presidential candidate as well? He was at a loss of words and all he could say was that McCain is a war hero.
Again this is coming from a man who cheated on his wife and paraded his mistress all around town. He also told his wife on national television that they were getting a divorce and he was marrying his mistress.

Family matters are private; if you leave them private.
My issue is abortion (never had one). It’s my choice. Since family is “so private” let my business about me having an abortion be private, not in the hands of the government! I don’t think there is public funding for abortions so let it come out of my pocket. When it starts coming out of your pocket then I get your point.
Even if you are raped you can not have an abortion. Sarah feels you can only have an abortion if the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother. So you are telling me that if I’m raped, I have to have this pervs child and expect for me and my husband to raise him/her? According to Sarah, that answer would be yes. Please, you (too many times) and your daughter been pregnant to know how emotional it can be. Let alone to be faced with this unwanted child by a rapist. So now we’re going to have a bigger problem with children being put up for adoption.
My second issue is, her daughter is the statistic you try to label everyone else. She’s 17, probably hasn’t finished high school, not married, lives with her parents, and most likely doesn’t have a job. If she wasn’t your daughter she would be the statistic. The only difference between her and other young girls like her is that her family has money. Other than that, she’s no better in my opinion.
Now all of a sudden the boy is in the picture? B**ch please. He just said he doesn’t want children. Now he’s on camera holding her hand greeting John McClain! Thankfully, my parents taught me how to recognize when someone is trying to run game. So now you’re gonna force the boy to be with the girl?
You’re not the average woman next door to me. Who cares that you worked and had a family? The woman next door to me has been doing it for years. And the lady next door to her did it centuries while taking care of your babies too. That working woman protest is old. We’ve been doing it for a long time. WASHINGTON (NNPA) – Despite record numbers of voters who turned out during the presidential primaries last spring, eight million African Americans are still not registered to vote.
This according to Rick Wade, African American vote director for the Obama for America presidential campaign.
“Our principle focus has been a 50-state voter registration initiative. I think we all appreciate that if we increase the number of African American registered voters and then increase turnout and get people to the polls on Nov. 4, then Sen. Obama will be the next president of the United States,” Wade says.
Wade explains that the eight million unregistered Black voters accounts for 32 percent of eligible Black voting population nationwide.
“In 2004, African Americans made up approximately 11 percent of the overall vote nationwide. If the percentage of African Americans was a mere two-and-a-half percent higher at 13-and-a-half percent, Democrats would currently be running for re-election at this time,” he said. “For example in the state of Ohio in 2004, we lost by two percent or 100,000 votes. There were 270,000 unregistered African Americans. I use that as an illustration to show how the African American vote can make the difference in a state and across this country.So the African American vote can absolutely make the difference in this election.”

Wall Street Journal columnist and former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan and former John McCain adviser, Time columnist, and MSNBC contributor Mike Murphy were caught on tape disparaging John McCain’s selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate.
“It’s over,” Noonan said.
When Chuck Todd asked her if this was the most qualified woman the Republicans could nominate, Noonan responded, “The most qualified? No. I think they went for this political bull***** about narratives. Every time the Republicans do that, because that’s not where they live and that’s not what they’re good at, they blow it.”
Murphy characterized the choices as “cynical” and “gimmicky.”

To be fair to Bristol’s baby daddy, most boys at age 18 are going to say they don’t want kids. I just feel bad that two teenaged kids are being forced to parade around as a couple to ease the scandal off of the Republicans.
I hope Obama wins, but in order to do so he’s going to still need a large percentage of the white vote. Blacks make up only about thirteen percent of the total US population, so even if every eligible black citizen votes it still wouldn’t be enough to get him into the white house. Even though he seems like a lock to win, he still needs to campaign hard.
I don’t agree with “Harry Potter at bedtime” but I love the Obama family! I could do without Palin on the back though!

“The smearing of the Palin family must end,” spokesman Steve Schmidt said in an e-mail distributed to journalists.
The Enquirer, which exposed John Edwards’s extramarital affair, cited unnamed sources in alleging that the Alaska governor had an affair with a business *****ociate of her “fisherman husband,” Todd Palin — the story doesn’t say when — and that he found out and severed relations with the man.
“The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false,” Schmidt said. “It is a vicious lie. Governor Palin is the most popular governor in the country. She is a proven leader, an accomplished executive, a champion for ethics reform, and a fighter against corruption. The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it.”
This only adds more to her plate, how can u *****ume the role of a VP and u have a serious personal issue like this to deal with to home. Its like a comflict of interet thing. You have to educate this young child who is now pregnant, educate the rest of her what is it 4 children, be there for Bristol and the country too?
