Black woman have been taught for generations to hate themselves and are so steeped in self hatred it is very sad. That is why so many burn their scalps with damaging relaxers using excuses such as it is “easier to manage” etc which are all lies. All you are doing is lining the pockets of Asian and European companies who are making billions off of your use of weaves and relaxers.
Do you really believe that other races will think that your natural (un-relaxed) hair is silky and straight – they are just secretly laughing at you!!! There are many natural and proud sistas with beautiful hair who dont have to conform to a western/european standard of beauty in order to think that they are beautiful. For all the burnt scalps and balding alopecia heads from constant weaving black women will never be accepted as beautiful because you hate yourselves so much. That is why when you look at American and European magazine covers, fashion shows and movies you never see your faces – the media has chosen to blatantly ignore you yet you are still pandering to conform to a western concept of beauty…so sad.

Self hatred is evident even in you. All Africans do not have kinky hair, neither do we. Why do you have such disdain for black women who choose to wear weaves wigs, whatever. Africans traditionally have spent the equivilent of thousands of dollars on the making of wigs for marriages and ceremonies. Many weaves do not imitate caucasian hair. All cultures wear wigs and hairdresses traditionally. I personally think the weave is a testiment to our beauty and creativity, like everything we do is imitated by the world. I am a 29 year old FULL BLACK woman and I have NEVER worn a weave and never want to. I have wavy black hair that goes just past my shoulders and I’m happy with my natural hair so that whole “everyone wears weaves” is BULLSHIT cuz the majority of the women in my family mixed or not have natural length and no weaves.

Destiny Child should have been centered around her because she was the only one who could really sing. The girls got kicked out of the group by the man who funded the group Bey’s daddy, because they wanted to replace him, didn’t know what side their bread was butted on. first I’m not a stan. She is not by far my favorite artist. But I see no need to be envious of her success. Like I said it is one thing to not like her, but to find fault in things that are outside of her control(ie how popular she is as compared to your favorite artist) is ignorant. And I could truly care less that you enjoy being a hater. You are not alone sister. But how much do you invest in the careers of your favorite artist? As long as they are still producing music that you love, then why hate on how successful she is? I never assumed you were african, african american yes. I do assume most if not everything in your home was made in China, or produced by a company who is not black owned, even the beeswax used to twist a dreadlock is probly not produced by a black company, but I bet you Beyonce’s and all the other black entertainers hairdressers are black and touching up a weave every week can be quite profitable.

Well the only race of people who have bone straight hair are usually asian, but people in Sudan and Algeria definatly have straight as well as curly and kinky hair everything came from us baby even blond hair and blue eyes, we are the beginning, what you don’t know could fill a stadium.

personally I do not wear relaxers, I wear weaves but not perms, I am quite aware of the damage that was done to our race, but this is out of perspective in my opinion, just because you change something about your appearance does not mean you hate yourself, I see plenty of sistas getting perms, weaves, etc. but they are not getting liposuction in their asses, reducing their lip size, bleaching their skin. does a sister who dyes her dreads blond hate herself? I have big ass lips and put on lipstick b/c I think it enhances my lips and beauty. I am not angry sista, I love you all of you kinky hair, straight hair, no hair, but what saddens me is the fact we don’t have anything good to say about each other. All over this world, you will find black people with various hair textures. Wear yours natural if that is what you like, but you cannot force your opinion on others. Lawdy Lawd Lawd. I’m Ethiopian, with curly hair. Now, I can wear it curly if I want, or straight. I prefer less combing action, and less maintenance, so am I supposed to NOT straighten it because I need to be true to my roots? I remember when I cut off my perm for the first time, my hair was down my back, everyone said don’t do it…I was actually scared, hesistant..all of that…and then when I did I could have slapped myself for being ’scared’ of myself.
