I still don’t like her, but posting fake pictures is crazy. There are so many REAL reasons to not vote for their ticket, let’s stick to those issues.

Well I saw the speech and I really wasn’t impressed with the one liners.

She’d make a great writer or whomever wrote her speech for Saturday Night Live.

I will have to watch the debates to get any kind of grasp on what any of these politicians plan to do with the mess this country is in.

We have a $420 billon dollar deficit, let’s not talk about the countless other problems we’re in.

This election is starting to look like a bad political movie.

    ;(

  • Jessica

I feel Sarah Palin is clueless when it comes to the needs of our country. Her statement “victory is finally in sight” in regard to the war proves that she is as out of touch as John McCain is when it comes to our mistake for even being there.

She also said, “In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change,” Excuse me??? McCain has voted right along side George Bush 90% of the time what kind of CHANGE is she talking about?

Her speech was well written and well delivered but any local theater actor could have easily replaced her at that podium.

Lastly, this woman can’t even control her own household why would we put her in charge of ours? Before you know it our Country is going to resemble her family’s dynamic. Knocked up and clueless.

  • Ms. Philly

Okay what did she say that was so bad?? Barack Obama spoke in a similar way about the Republican candidate also…its what they do!

  • Lou in the Chi

Her speech was written by Bush speech writers.

    @Lauren

She was blatantly lying about things she has accomplished in her administration and making light of Barack and his accomplishment. But really it was the same ole Republican swill.

  • WhatsYoursIsMine-Fabulousness for less than $10 a day!

    @Ms. Lauren Philly:

:P Rudy Guiliani has been in Obama’s face several times, especially after his lost his bid to be the Republican nominee. It’s amazing to me how liberal/moderate Republicans are all reining themselves in for this election. SMH.

her speech was wack for a few reasons and im not saying this because she is white or republican

1.) as someone living in an urban city i didnt feel the connection with her…to me she represented what she sought out to represent her fellow trailer trash mid westerners

2.) thats great she is able to govern and be a mom and go fishing and be this superwoman so many aspire to be but um she is not a maverick in that sense…

millions of women do that shyt everyday

  • realwoman

Photoshopped or not this is a pretty accurate depiction of her personality as viewed by the average American…well at least what it should be.

I am just waiting for all the house negroes to come out the woodworks and talk sh!t about her and her daughter the way they would if this were a black woman in the same situation (forced to marry baby daddy, now her 17 year old knocked up unwed daughter is about to be a baby mama (maybe for the second time???), grandkids and kids only a year apart in age, smokes weed, doesn’t believe in abortion, ghetto sisters seeking revenge against sister’s ex, grandma taking care of underaged unwed daughters bastard child, daughter’s ghetto baby daddies myspace page glorifying guns and violence, cheating on her baby daddy with his homeboy etc.) C’mon now. This broad is worse than young jeezy’s baby mama on any given day!

  • Jessica

Let me just add… Rudy Giuliani couldn’t even get his party to support his desire to become President and yet he is so devoted to them. The only reason I see for this being so is he knows his pockets will be affected if Obama/Biden are elected.

Attacks, praise stretch truth at GOP convention

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth.

    Some examples:

PALIN: “I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending … and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress ‘thanks but no thanks’ for that Bridge to Nowhere.”

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a “bridge to nowhere.”

PALIN: “There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state senate.”

THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation.

PALIN: “The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.”

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama’s plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain’s plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families.

He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.

MCCAIN: “She’s been governor of our largest state, in charge of 20 percent of America’s energy supply … She’s responsible for 20 percent of the nation’s energy supply. I’m entertained by the comparison and I hope we can keep making that comparison that running a political campaign is somehow comparable to being the executive of the largest state in America,” he said in an interview with ABC News’ Charles Gibson.

THE FACTS: McCain’s phrasing exaggerates both claims. Palin is governor of a state that ranks second nationally in crude oil production, but she’s no more “responsible” for that resource than President Bush was when he was governor of Texas, another oil-producing state. In fact, her primary power is the ability to tax oil, which she did in concert with the Alaska Legislature. And where Alaska is the largest state in America, McCain could as easily have called it the 47th largest state — by population.

MCCAIN: “She’s the commander of the Alaska National Guard. … She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities,” he said on ABC.

THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under “federal status,” which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska’s national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations.

FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin “got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States.”

THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996 mayor’s election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of 1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got 76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries.

FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOV. MITT ROMNEY: “We need change, all right — change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington — throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin.”

THE FACTS: A Back-to-the-Future moment. George W. Bush, a conservative Republican, has been president for nearly eight years. And until last year, Republicans controlled Congress. Only since January 2007 have Democrats have been in charge of the House and Senate.

Hi all, I’m still seething over last night’s speech. . .I really don’t like “this pitbull with lipstick.” Her antagonistic remarks had Karl Rove written all over them. Good luck trying to unlink yourself from Bush, McCain.

And am I the only one who thought it was extremely tacky to have her pregnant daughter and her baby’s father in the audience, along with the young baby? All of this just reeks of low class.

THE TRUTH FROM ALASKA: THE ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS

Some of Palin’s remarks stretch the truth

SPEECH: Gas pipeline, earmark issues have more subtlety than described.

Daily News staff and wire report

    Published: September 4th, 2008 01:48 AM

    Last Modified: September 4th, 2008 02:38 AM

Gov. Sarah Palin’s remarks to the Republican National Convention about her record in state government stretched the truth.

    GAS PIPELINE

PALIN: “I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence. That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.

THE FACTS: Palin implies that construction has begun on a major natural gas pipeline from the top of Alaska into Canada. That is not correct.

In fact, no building has begun and actual construction is years away, if it ever happens. This summer the Alaska Legislature, at Palin’s request, passed a bill under which the state will issue a “license” to a Canadian energy company, TransCanada Corp., and pay it up to $500 million as an incentive to someday build this enormous project, which Alaska politicians have long sought with little success. The license is not a construction contract, and federal energy regulators have not yet approved the project.

Palin also puts the price tag for the project at $40 billion, an exaggeration. This is roughly $10 billion more than most cost estimates industry players and consultants have made to date.

    EARMARKS

PALIN: “I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending … and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress ‘thanks but no thanks’ for that Bridge to Nowhere.”

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million.

In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation, although she has cut, by more than half, the amount the state sought from Washington this year. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to Gravina Island, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a “bridge to nowhere.”

This story was reported by Daily News reporter Wesley Loy and the Associated Press.

    www(DOT)adn(DOT)com/sarah-palin/story/515517(DOT)html

  • Ms. Philly

She bragged about her son going to IRAQ but didn’t commend BIDEN’S son going to IRAQ?? He is also getting deployed…

  • Sydney

BTW, I really liked what Gloria Steinhem wrote in a commentary today:

“Selecting Sarah Palin, who was touted all summer by Rush Limbaugh, is no way to attract most women, including die-hard Clinton supporters. Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton’s candidacy stood for — and that Barack Obama’s still does. To vote in protest for McCain/Palin would be like saying, “Somebody stole my shoes, so I’ll amputate my legs.”

I repeat, Sarah Palin is no Hillary Rodham Clinton, or even Condoleezza Rice, Olympia Snowe, Kay Bailey Hutchison, or Christine Todd Whitman, for that matter. While the Republicans continue their slugfest against the “Evil Left” (or whatever terminology Romney used last night), people across the nation continue to suffer from the loss of jobs, lack of access to health care, and a myriad of everyday challenges. Voting for McCain is a vote for another four years of the same backwards policies that have left us in the state we’re in today. Enough!

    Obama-Biden ’08

  • JustMoi

MS.PHILLY: was it just me or did her son look CLUELESS that he was going to Iraq? *LMAO

  • PeepEye

I wonder if McCain gets elected, who will be his “token Negro in his Cabinet”?

  • Bustin Babies

I never nutted on a girls face, but when I see girls in glasses I wonder when the let you nut on their faces do they keep the glasses on?

  • Mandah, what thee hell? Sarah palin needs to stay home and take care of Trigonometry and that fast assed Bristol needs to go 2 school and learn it!

if i shook my damn head everytime this crazy wheffa said something contradictory , hyppocritical, or down right stupid…. i would need more than a damn neck brace i cant tell you that much….

Palin has actually run something. Biden is a 30+ professional DC hack. &Obama has never managed a Wendy’s let alone a political office where he had any power.

I heard this chicks speech last night…and not once did she say anything of substance. I, unlike the idiots in this country, do not fall for family photo ops, attacks of the other party leaders, etc. I listen to what your ideas are and this chick is a far right as they come which for America only spells more doom and gloom. Obama has it right, if you happy with what the last 8 years have gotten you then vote for the McCain/Palin ticket!

I didn’t write this, but I think it’s worth sharing on the “experience” argument:

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer growing your organization from a staff of 1 to 13 and your budget from $70,000 to $400,000, then become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new African Amerian voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, then spend nearly 8 more years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, becoming chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee, then spend nearly 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of nearly 13 million people, sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs committees, you are woefully inexperienced.

If you spend 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, then spend 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you’ve got the most executive experience of anyone on either ticket, are the Commander in Chief of the Alaska military and are well qualified to lead the nation should you be called upon to do so because your state is the closest state to Russia?!

Oh, I think Palin is very shady, and more will come out in the wash, I’m sure. I thought last night was so creepy, and it was obvious that Levi Johnston, or whatever his name is, would have rather be snowmobiling than at the dry as heck RNC convention. I see that they’re not letting anyone interview her. Good move because she’s definitely won’t hold up for 10 minutes under heavy questions, particularly on matters of domestic and foreign policy — you know, the issues in which any vice presidential candidate would be expected to be well-versed.

Are you going to watch Obama today on Fox News? I think he’s appearing today. He’s also going on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, too, I think.

  • Anonymous3 – the fire sign

the problem with Palin is that she is under qualified and only has the interest of Alaska at heart….unfortunately her past becomes an issue because of what she has chosen to do for a living…the issues with her daughter, her flirting with her husband’s business partner…everything….Republicans need to look at this in basic terms…if something happens to McCain..if elected this woman could possibly be our President….that should scare the H.E. Cindy McCain’s $300,000 Outfit

    by Vanity Fair

    September 4, 2008, 10:29 AM

One of the persistent memes in the Republican line of attack against Barack Obama is the notion that he is an elitist, whereas the G.O.P. represent real working Americans like Levi “F-in’ Redneck” Johnston.

It caught our attention, then, when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night wearing some rather fancy designer clothes. So we asked our fashion department to price out their outfits.

    Laura Bush

Oscar de la Renta suit: $2,500

    Stuart Weitzman heels: $325

    Pearl stud earrings: $600–$1,500

    Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325

    Cindy McCain

Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000

Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500

    Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000

    Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000

    Shoes, designer unknown: $600

    Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100

Wow! No wonder McCain has so many houses: his wife has the price of a Scottsdale split-level hanging from her ears.

(All prices except Laura’s shoes and Cindy’s watch are estimates, and the jewelry prices are based on the assumption that the pieces are real.)

At one time, Palin wanted to be a sportscaster, so she should know how to read a teleprompter. Oh, and did you notice that she didn’t mention her daughter’s pregnancy? You know, the one that she’s so proud of. Nor did she mention her future son-in-law — the one who looked like he wanted to jump on the next plane back to Anchorage. Hmmm. . . And I loved the way she directly pandered to parents of special needs children. Classy!

As an aside, your eyes didn’t deceive you last night if you saw very little color in the convention crowd, according to a story today in the Washington Post:

“As the country rapidly diversifies, Republicans are presenting a convention that is almost entirely white.

Only 36 of the 2,380 delegates seated on the convention floor are black, the lowest number since the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies began tracking diversity at political conventions 40 years ago. Each night, the overwhelmingly white audience watches a series of white politicians step to the lectern — a visual reminder that no black Republican has served as a governor, U.S. senator or U.S. House member in the past six years.”

    Two things totally unrelated:

    @Me:

Look up how she left her town millions of dollars in debt when she was mayor, and that she was almost recalled as mayor. That’s not someone I’d want running for President, because, let’s face it, should something happen to McCain she’s in charge.

  • http://360.yahoo.com/lana_sands Tiger

@Sydney Most communities don’t need organizing. Beside which, what are the results of all this organizing? Some folks organized a Milion man march a few years ago to what result other than a big party? President of the law review? The law review is basical a student journal of the law school. So he is a glorified head of a student newspaper. Voter registration goes on everyday. Dems push it every few years to sign up more election numbers. In 12 years as law professor, none of his fellow faculty have had much to say about him. The few that have were negative.

Of those 131 bills how many became law? Naming a post office is not much to cheer about… The time in the senate has been mostly absent. Like Hillary, he spent most of his term campaigning & fund rasing, Not working…..

    OBAMA ’08

  • Sydney

    @Tiger

    Some of Obama’s accomplishments:

In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America’s addiction to oil, he’s working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

Sarah Palin said just a few weeks ago before she was picked for the job that she didn’t “even know what a VP does”. Quote. And now she’s just so happy and honored to assume that role. I’m concerned that she’s not genuine or qualified and she’s going to take that phoniness and sub-qualification straight to Washington if elected.

I do not believe for one second that the US will be less secure with Obama than with McCain. We’ve been so bamboozled with this whole Iraq war. I have a cousin who fought in Iraq War 1 and I’m convinced more than ever that this was waged by Dubya to make his Daddy proud. Saddam’s been dead for years now, no WMD’s were found, and Osama Bin Laden is in Afghanistan apparently so why Iraq?

  • always knew

    Dear friends,

So many people have asked me about what I know about Sarah Palin in the

last 2 days that I decided to write something up . . .

Basically, Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have only 2 things in

common: their gender and their good looks.

You have my permission to forward this to your friends/email contacts

with my name and email address attached, but please do not post it on

any websites, as there are too many kooks out there . . .

    Thanks,

    Anne

    ABOUT SARAH PALIN

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992.

Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a

first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her

father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a

first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more

City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the

    residents of the city.

She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular

girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and

won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because

    she is a “babe”.

It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She

kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents

    for seven months.

She is “pro-life”. She recently gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby.

There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby.

She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym.

She is savvy. She doesn’t take positions; she just “puts things out

there” and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit.

Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a

champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly

sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his

work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or

so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their

major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything

    like that of native Alaskans.

Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters.

    She’s smart.

Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000

(at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about

    670,000 residents.

During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running

this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been

pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had

gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had

given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6

years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over

33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the

City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation

(1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a

regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she

promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they

    benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration

weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed

money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it

with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage

the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said

she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a

new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a

multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece

of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was

still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers

involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the

community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it

would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that

could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office

    redecorated more than once.

These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city.

As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus

in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will

make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she

proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state.

In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she

recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while

she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today’s

    surplus, borrow for needs.

She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas

or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by

her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the

    basis of who proposed them.

While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected

City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from

the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents

rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin’s

attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew

her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the

Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.

Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for

Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of “old boys”. Palin

fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as

Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people,

creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally

grateful and fiercely loyal–loyal to the point of abusing their power

to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the

case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below).

As Mayor, Sarah fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he “intimidated”

her, she told the press. As Governor, her recent firing of Alaska’s top

cop has the ring of familiarity about it. He served at her pleasure

and she had every legal right to fire him, but it’s pretty clear that

an important factor in her decision to fire him was because he wouldn’t

fire her sister’s ex-husband, a State Trooper. Under investigation

for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than 2 dozen

contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she

later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to

replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded

for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew

    her support.

She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in

help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town

introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council

became one of her first targets when she was later elected Mayor. She

abruptly fired her loyal City Administrator; even people who didn’t

like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness.

Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything

    publicly about her.

When then-Governor Murkowski was handing out political plums, Sarah got

the best, Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission: one

of the few jobs not in Juneau and one of the best paid. She had no

background in oil & gas issues. Within months of scoring this great

job which paid $122,400/yr, she was complaining in the press about the

high salary. I was told that she hated that job: the commute, the

structured hours, the work. Sarah became aware that a member of this

Commission (who was also the State Chair of the Republican Party)

engaged in unethical behavior on the job. In a gutsy move which some

undoubtedly cautioned her could be political suicide, Sarah solved all

her problems in one fell swoop: got out of the job she hated and

garnered gobs of media attention as the patron saint of ethics and as a

gutsy fighter against the “old boys’ club” when she dramatically quit,

exposing this man’s ethics violations (for which he was fined).

As Mayor, she had her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork from

Senator Ted Stevens. Lately, she has castigated his pork-barrel

politics and publicly humiliated him. She only opposed the “bridge to

nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to.

As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget

guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing

projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative

action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply

because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant

she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”.

She is solidly Republican: no political maverick. The State party

leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated

them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a

    fiscal conservative.

Around Wasilla there are people who went to high school with Sarah.

They call her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her unbridled ambition and

predatory ruthlessness. Before she became so powerful, very ugly

stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made

point guard on the high school basketball team. When Sarah’s

mother-in-law, a highly respected member of the community and

experienced manager, ran for Mayor, Sarah refused to endorse her.

As Governor, she stepped outside of the box and put together of package

of legislation known as “AGIA” that forced the oil companies to march

to the beat of her drum.

Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife

Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked to

global warming. She campaigned “as a private citizen” against a state

initiaitive that would have either a) protected salmon streams from

pollution from mines, or b) tied up in the courts all mining in the

state (depending on who you listen to). She has pushed the State’s

lawsuit against the Dept. of the Interior’s decision to list polar

    bears as threatened species.

McCain is the oldest person to ever run for President; Sarah will be a

    heartbeat away from being President.

There has to be literally millions of Americans who are more

    knowledgeable and experienced than she.

However, there’s a lot of people who have underestimated her and are

    regretting it.

    CLAIM VS FACT

•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years

•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary

    school, not since

    •“NRA supporter”: absolutely true

•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill

that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships

(said she did this because it was unconsitutional).

•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to

    promote it.

•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby

BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life

    legislation

•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has

residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska.

No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on

supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city

administrator to run town of about 5,000.

    •political maverick: not at all

    •gutsy: absolutely!

•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at

    explaining actions.

•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no

•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores

and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.

•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!

•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city

without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built

streets to early 20th century standards.

•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on

    residents

•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city

    government in Wasilla’s history.

•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union

doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim

    that she is pro-labor/pro-union.

    WHY AM I WRITING THIS?

First, I have long believed in the importance of being an informed

voter. I am a voter registrar. For 10 years I put on student voting

programs in the schools. If you google my name (Anne Kilkenny +

Alaska), you will find references to my participation in local

    government, education, and PTA/parent organizations.

Secondly, I’ve always operated in the belief that “Bad things happen

when good people stay silent”. Few people know as much as I do because

few have gone to as many City Council meetings.

Third, I am just a housewife. I don’t have a job she can bump me out

of. I don’t belong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no

fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will

cost me somehow in the future: that’s life.

Fourth, she has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100

or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah’s

    attempt at censorship.

Fifth, I looked around and realized that everybody else was afraid to

say anything because they were somehow vulnerable.

    CAVEATS

I am not a statistician. I developed the numbers for the increase in

spending & taxation 2 years ago (when Palin was running for Governor)

from information supplied to me by the Finance Director of the City of

Wasilla, and I can’t recall exactly what I adjusted for: did I adjust

for inflation? for population increases? Right now, it is impossible

for a private person to get any info out of City Hall–they are

swamped. So I can’t verify my numbers.

You may have noticed that there are various numbers circulating for the

population of Wasilla, ranging from my “about 5,000″, up to 9,000. The

day Palin’s selection was announced a city official told me that the

current population is about 7,000. The official 2000 census count was

5,460. I have used about 5,000 because Palin was Mayor from 1996 to

2002, and the city was growing rapidly in the mid-90’s.

Breakdown on Sarah Palin….I still say, even after reading her background, she’s not the right individual for the job….

  • And…

She already has a proven record of dishonesty and not being able to control her own affairs – how can she control them for the country? She can’t control her house – how can she control the White House. I mean that’s just me.

Why is she trying to come across as such a hardass and a pitbull when she couldn’t control her own gun toting, liquor guzzling daughter?

  • what the?

Do some research on the Republican party people…the election of Lincoln in 1860, ended 60 years of dominance by the slavery-supporting Democrats and ushering in a new era of Republican dominance based in the immigrant and industrial north and on the end of slavery!!!!

Also, the fundamental philosophy and political ideals of the Republican Party are founded on the idea that societal health is rooted in personal responsibility and actions. The Republican Party holds the belief that all material things are earned, not owed. This is seen most often in the party’s push for lower taxes. This is fought for in an attempt to treat all citizens equally despite income, race, gender, or religion. They also see taxes as a drag on the economy, and believe private spending is usually more efficient than public spending.

Below is what Ron Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, told Newsweek.com about Obama:

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is not attending this week’s Republican convention but her son, Ron, is. Newsweek.com’s Tammy Haddad and her TamCam caught up with the son of the Republican icon. You can watch it HERE and hear Reagan describe his mother’s fondness for the current Democratic nominee.

“John McCain and my mother have known each for years and years. Her parents, and Cindy McCain’s parents go way back in Phoenix, Arizona. She’s grateful to John McCain for standing with her on the issue of stem cells and, of course, has officially endorsed him. She’s fine with John McCain, as I said, they’ve been friends for a long time.”

“I can tell you though that she’s also very impressed with Barack Obama…she’s just impressed by his demeanor, is not just that he’s an eloquent guy and a guy who gives a good speech, a lot of people said that about my father too. But she sees through that. She’s been around a long time and she looks at Barack Obama and she sees the words, hears the words and she perceives character there. She thinks this is a good guy, a guy who means well and is a strong character,” Reagan said.

And Ron, who has rarely shared the political perspective of his parents, had this to say about Sarah Palin, “Sarah Palin is in no way qualified to be vice president or certainly president. John McCain is a 72 year old cancer survivor, not just any cancer, melanoma. Not just any melanoma, melanoma above the neck. It was his obligation to choose somebody who could realistically step into the big chair and Sarah Palin is not that person.”

What you and other conservatives fail to see is that America is in shambles. Period. We didn’t get here by accident either. We got their because of 8 years of conservative government. This is where it has landed us. The economy sucks, affordable healthcare is a myth, we have an energy crisis and housing crisis, we are STILL in Iraq (which we entered under false pretenses)… and along the way, we’ve seen miserable gov’t failures, like the Katrina response. But the RNC has so far focused on cheapshots and appealing to ignorant voters. C’mon, who cars about moose and snow when they can’t take their sick child to a doctor and can’t afford the gas to go to work? Give me a break!

The latent them of last night’s convention is that “Our gov’t is broken” and “we need change” but NO ONE admitted how we got into this mess. How can they expect to gain the trust of the American people?

Again, I go back to Mitt Romney’s outrageous ploy to deny the Bush administration:

“We need change, all right _ change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington!… throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin.”

For all your rambling, neither YOU or any other republican can explain the above statement by one of your own.

I am pleased to read that most everyone saw through all of that Republican trickery last night. The white women in my office think Palin is a nice person, but needs to be home with those kids and the grand baby. What woman would not realize that her priorities at the moment do not lie with the Vice Presidency, but with her baby with Down’s Syndrome and her pregnant teen daughter?

It’s amazing how the GOP is now claiming “the media” is sexist, yet accepted this when Hillary Clinton was running. We are in for a heap of trouble if McCain/Palin is elected.

  • what the?

    @dapro11

Ok you tell me who freed the slaves

    @me

Palin is against wasteful spending, eh? The below is from yesterday’s Washington Post:

WASHINGTON — GOP vice presidential pick Sarah Palin accepted at least $4,500 in campaign contributions in the same fundraising scheme at the center of a public corruption scandal that led to the indictment of Sen. Ted Stevens.

The contributions, made during Palin’s failed 2002 bid to become Alaska’s lieutenant governor, were not illegal for her to accept. But they show how Palin, a self-proclaimed reformer who has bucked Stevens and his allies, is nonetheless a product of a political system in Alaska now under the cloud of an ongoing FBI investigation.

It’s the latest in a string of revelations that have forced John McCain’s campaign to defend his choice and the thoroughness of the background check of Palin, 44, a little-known governor who is new to the national stage. Palin stunned delegates at the GOP convention Monday when she announced through the McCain campaign that her unmarried 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant.

With the convention still abuzz, the list of potentially embarrassing details grew Tuesday:

_Palin sought pork-barrel projects for her city and state, contrary to her reformist image.

_Her husband once belonged to a fringe political group in Alaska with some members supporting secession from the United States.

_A private attorney has been authorized to spend $95,000 to defend her against accusations of abuse of power.

    And more:

Since Palin’s nomination last week, these issues also are raising eyebrows:

_In her earlier career as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin hired a lobbyist to help the tiny town secure at least 14 earmarks, worth $27 million between 2000-2003. McCain has touted Palin as a force in his long battle against earmarks.

“The economy sucks, affordable healthcare is a myth, we have an energy crisis and housing crisis”…

and you think that’s because of a republican.. if you want to get specific, we have an energy crisis because oil is a world commodity and is traded as such.. the price of oil is not set forth by the president of the united stated.. and if you want to get more specific, it’s the democrats who dont’ want to drill for more here domestically.. so what’s their answer.. they dont’ have one…

my healthcare is quite affordable, so im not sure what you mean there.. you see, i though ahead, like most republicans do, and i got affordable healthcare and pay for it for my whole family… why do you not have affordable healthcare.. guess you should have though ahead.. but i guess if you vote barack in, you won’t have to work for it, he’ll just give it to you… UGH…

Do you have any clue why we have a housing crisis.. its called the “ARM” loan.. introduce during the clinton years… an arm loan allows one to pay the interest only on their house.. instead of interest and principle.. now think about that for a second… it also allows the mortgage companty to adjust the interest rate as they see fit… which in turn drove up the market price, and the monthly payment for every home owner with an “ARM” loan, which caused them to fall short of being able to make that monthly payment…

So this whole rhetoric that the bad economy is somehow the republicans faults is laughable and you all just suck it up like juice.. mmmmmm juice..

wake up.. but you wont’, so it’s all good..

@ me (even though you are craftily avoiding me, what a true conservative!)

So Obama will “burden” us with taxes, right? Here’s an analysis published in the Washington Times:

“The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama’s plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually.

Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.”

So, yes. Small businesses grossing more than a quarter million a year will pay more in taxes. Sounds horrible, right? Well consider this. If we move into a recession, small businesses will crumble altogether. The key to business survival is consumer spending. So yes, we need to give the working class a break. The middle class consume far more than those in the top income bracket because of the sheer number of non-rich americans. I favor a tax plan that would give the poor and elderly the biggest break over a plan that gives the rich the biggest break.

Oh, and the “burden” on the middle class is only TWO PERCENT higher with Obama than with McCain. I don’t know about you, but THIS middle class american would gladly pay an extre TWO PERCENT by 2012 and have better healthcare, better schools, alternative energy sources, etc. than save my TWO percent and continue to allow only the rich to prosper. :-)

not voting for obama myself, not a racist either…not voting for mccain, I’m tired of voting against something, against W so I vote for kerry who was less than perfect on many issues I cared about…so be warnd Dugdamon, Obama is a hellish future, just hellish…so don’t be a “racism” dork, its pathetic, and hurts you, not because people think you’re weak(which they do) but, because your mind isn’t getting a real work out, and eventually you’ll be the type of old dumbass who watches fox news for information…just the liberal version. sad, a person turning into what they hate, because they let themselves get off easy as “true believers” instead of doing the real work of having a democratic republic and having to study these issues for what helps the most people.

I am a constitutionalist, and the ron paul rally showed excellently(Lew Rockwell was a speaker) how following the constitution & contract/property law solves everything. ex: pollution-wouldn’t want others polluting your property thus You don’t hurt other’s property by dumping trash or waste, or you can’t pump concentrated evil into the air because courts will hold you accountable for the other’s (townspeople’s) property.

“You haven’t heard a word about how they’re going to deal with any aspect of the economy that is affecting you day to day,” Mr. Obama said, speaking to voters outside a hydro power plant here. “They’ve had a lot to say about me, but they haven’t had a word to say about you.”

drilling wont solve the energy crisis

The cost to buy, assemble, and excavate before drilling, we can’t afford. Plus it will take yrs for drilling for any oil is reached. Billions of dollars to reach a little oil by 2012-2015. When wind and solar is readily availble today….

Dominion power bragged about having the the World largest reserve of natural gas/ and oil 2 years ago when I personally meet the VP of Discover and Exploration. They have 70Yrs worth of “reserve” sittig under the US right now!!!!! They dont sell it. It is only used to control and set prices for oil daily (proces get hire on extremely hot day / during bad weather, when oil rigs and drills cant run).

No the pres doesn’t set the price of oil, but his big oil lobbyist sure contribute to it. GOP administrations have been giving big oil tax breaks for the last 8 years. So if they know that oil is scarce and the american people are bearing the brunt, why shouldn’t the tax breaks go to the people? Oh, and off-shore drilling? Please. Drilling will not produce a drop of oil for at least SEVEN years… even then, it will only reduce the price of oil by a few cents/gallon. What do we do until then? And if drilling is the answer, and the GOP has known it all along, WHY THE HELL didn’t they lift the ban on drilling in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, all the way up to 2007 before the Dems took over Congress? Bush lifted the ban a few months ago! Why should he have done it sooner? After all, his oil buddies enjoyed record profits under his administration.

“my healthcare is quite affordable, so im not sure what you mean there.. you see, i though ahead, like most republicans do, and i got affordable healthcare and pay for it for my whole family… but i guess if you vote barack in, you won’t have to work for it, he’ll just give it to you… UGH…”

Then eventually label her a useless “welfare queen” when she comes to the gov’t for assistance? GREAT PLAN!

“The question you’ve got to ask yourself is: What’s our plans? What’s our agenda?” Mr. Obama said. Later, he added: “I don’t think that anybody here can name four specific things that John McCain would do to help your pocketbook. They’ve had a bunch of speakers. If they would have had any ideas, they would have put them out there by now.”

With that, Mr. Obama concluded his town meeting with voters and went to prepare for a first in his political career: Sitting down for an interview on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Fox News Channel.

Some new poll numbers: Democrat Barack Obama has a 7-percentage-point lead over Republican John McCain _ he has 49 percent to McCain’s 42 percent _ among registered voters in the presidential race, according to the latest Gallup Poll daily tracking update.

    @Me-

The economy does take a few years to catch up the real world, but not like this. We’re facing one of the largest loss of value on the American dollar than we have in ages. Also, so many of our country’s loans are through China. How can we get our own people to invest and have faith in America when we’re losing value on our own currency?

The beginning of Bush’s 1st term started out pretty well, but it got out of control after his first year. Actually, it wasn’t his first full year. 9/11 was able to be thrown out as a scapegoat for bigger issues such as the soon to be failing American dollar, the fall of the airlines (which actually started under his father).

When you don’t support your people as much as you support big business, you can rapidly change your economy. Now, I do support big business because they bring jobs to our economy, and should they fairly pay taxes, we get the trickle down via donations and sponsorships.

Bush can’t even get big business behind him because he’s let them run all over him. NO president is without sin, or will have a perfect run, but our spike in unemployment and this housing crisis did manifest under Bush’s administration.

And as for the “voting present”, people from both parties have shot down the insults on his voting present. It’s a common practice in the Illinois state legislature. Instead of filibustering, you vote present to stop something from passing over until you get the resolution you desire.

And he participated in more votes than his opponent John McCain has. Have you ever wondered why McCain has more media appearances than anyone else who’s running for president?

The Republicans are promoting mediocrity when they try to paint palin as the average every day working mom in america. i’m sorry, but i don’t want average; i want extraordinary. mediocrity (in degrees, family, issues, platform) is not what we want and it is certainly not what we need. our country is behind all of the other developed nations and some not so developed in subjects like math and science; we cannot possibly compete if we have these imbeciles running our country.

palin tried to say families have ups and downs – i’m sorry, but teenage pregnancy is more than that. it is a life altering event that goes way beyond just an up or down. marriage does not make it better. how about this child’s education?

The W. Presidency is my first one to experience as an adult, Al Gore was my first presidential ballot. I don’t believe in voting for someone because of party, but I was not comfortable voting for Bush in 2000, or 2004. I’m definitely not comfortable voting for McCain this year.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS has just reported yet another Palin LIE.

‘In a fundraising letter issued Thursday, she [Palin] wrote that “the Obama-Biden Democrats have been vicious in their attacks directed toward me, my family and John McCain. The misinformation and flat-out lies must be corrected.’

Wtf? Obama and Biden have questioned her EXPERIENCE. Neither of them have mentioned her family. Typical GOP strategy- just say it enough times and maybe people will believe it. Pathetic.

  • HF

    @ Octavia

U r right. How many times has Obama and Biden said “FAMILIES R OFF LIMITS?”

That’s the way I should have been from the START! (The New Yorker… r u listening?)

The problem now is that the Republicants will have no compunction about calling this “sexism” on Obama’s part.

    Pathetic is right.

  • Facts Only Please

No person except a natural born CITIZEN(One does not have to be born in the USA to be a US citizen) or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

This is directly from the constitution and it doesn’t say a thing about needing experience to be president. So all the “experience whiners” SHUT UP. That’s a moot subject and totally irrelevant.

Now, let’s finally get to the issues that matter.

Man, I love the Republicans. SMDH.

Georgia Republican Rep. Lynn Westmoreland used the racially-tinged term “uppity” to describe Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama Thursday.

Westmoreland was discussing vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s speech with reporters outside the House chamber and was asked to compare her with Michelle Obama.

“Just from what little I’ve seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they’re a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they’re uppity,” Westmoreland said.

Asked to clarify that he used the word “uppity,” Westmoreland said, “Uppity, yeah.”

You are all some ignorant saps. Especially SMDH. Put down the damn New york times and pick up an economics book.

“Whose been in office for the last 8 years and pretty much the last 25?? REPUBLICANS jackass, REPUBLICANS!!!”

You are right, republicans. And during the last eight years, when, after 9/11 the economy rebounded and the stock market broke several records, trumping that of the clinton dot.com bubble, republicans.

three years ago, when the economy grew at the fastest pace in the last 25 years, thus trumping the economic growth record set by another President with a big R next to his name, republicans were in control.

“Everything you spoke of was the case when CLinton wasin office but did the country fail miserably?? Did it have all this unemployment?? The housing crisis?? ”

Well, the economy officially started to recede after the dot.com bubble burst, while Clinton was President. In face, the 8 years og great economic growth under Clinton in fact started in 91,92, when Bush Sr., a republican was President, and the growth continued through Clinton’s Presidency. With a republican controlled congress as well…

Unemployment rates? Care to tell me what the average rate was under Clinton? Around 5.4 percent. Care to take a guess what the average is under Bush? Well, it just hit 5.8, when over the last seven years Bush has been in office it has been sitting comfortably at around 5.5-5.6 percent.

We are talking an unemployment rate difference of .1-.2 percent. What crisis do you speak of?

You are also right in that we have to give congress credit.

Simple question: When did the housing crisis start, and when did gas prices skyrocket at the fastest rate?

Hint: It was after the democrats took control of congress…

Continuing: Others claim that drilling for oil in america is a worthless idea because it will take at least 10 years to see any profits.

Interestingly enough, Brazil recently discovered some of the largest oil reserves of its coast. The estimated time from discovery to production and profit will be around 2-3 years.

Why is that? Why does it take the US 10-12 years to do something that Brazil can do in 1/4th the time?

Because of democrat environmentalists and their legal red tape. If the environmentalists did something productive, we could be producing oil and profits from the gulf or alaskain a year or two, tops.

“Oh, but we shouldn’t destroy ANWAR! The animals won’t like the pipeline!:

Funny, but recent studies have shown that arctic animals, like caribou, have had population explosions. Why? Because the oil pipelines are warm year round. THe caribou actually live near the pipes and breed more because of them. That, and the area we would drill in takes up about the same percentage of ANWAR as Clinton had over Bush in unemployment. Less than one percent of the total area.

Finally, democrats like to make more jobs in america by taxing companies and business more, raising the minimum wage, and give unions more power.

Well, raising taxes forces companies overseas, which looses jobs. Raising the minimum wage forces companies to pay more to their employees, which means that they will hire fewer employees to make up for the loss, while reducing the hiring of under qualified employees. Which means fewer jobs for minorities. And the unions are corrupt. Hate to break it to you.

Finally, lets discuss who is to blame for the loss of american jobs oversees. Most people tend to blame something called NAFTA, which Bill Clinton (D) signed into legislation.

    Retards.

“You are right, republicans. And during the last eight years, when, after 9/11 the economy rebounded and the stock market broke several records, trumping that of the clinton dot.com bubble, republicans.”

Uhhh those supposed records were based on false corporate sales and earning projections 7 to 10 years in the future. (Remember Enron?).

“Simple question: When did the housing crisis start, and when did gas prices skyrocket at the fastest rate?

Hint: It was after the democrats took control of congress…”

The Dems had nothing to do with the Housing Crisis and you know it. Those predatory sub-prime teaser loans came into effect during your precious Republicans watch…Greenspan was warned of the upcoming crash and was begged to bend the current administration’s ear regarding some sort of solution to regulate those sub-prime lending practices…As far the sky-rocketing gas prices, you know and I know that it’s at the whim of these so-called Wall Street speculators who are just exploiting the market’s skittishness regarding the overseas political instability occurring in the Middle East and (NOW) in Russia.

    @SMDH

Ummmmm I’m a Marine. Not a soldier. I am stationed in Iwakuni Japan on a 6 month deployment. My home station is Beaufort SC, right next to Parris Island. Hopefully TS Hannah isn’t going to flood my storage unit out while I’m gone. I am an aviation electrician on F-18 Hornets. Been doing this for 19 years. I am the son of a Baptist minister from ATL. I enlisted in Jonesboro GA in 1989. This is my 6th tour overseas. I have done a stint recruiting and a stint with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Check their website and you will see pics of me from 2001-2004. I am a single dad to a 10 year old daughter, and I have a 6 year old son that lives with my ex. I don’t know what else to tell you to try and convince you that I am a separate person from whoever it is that you are so heated at. Fact is, I think the person in question, and I have very different writing styles, but I could be wrong. I am a Republican. I have been since ’92. I personally saw what Clinton and the Democratic party did to the military. Closing bases and drastic downsizing. I watched the Democratic president do nothing when the parking garage of the WTC was bombed in ’93. I watched as the USS Cole was bombed and we gave very little response. I watched my paycheck shrink under the Clinton administration. One year I got a 2.1% pay raise, that put me in a higher tax bracket and caused my take home pay to drop! These and many other reasons is why I have voted Republican. I’m sure that you have your reasons for voting Democrat (or not voting Republican). I am sure they are good reasons to you. I can even respect your reasons. All I ask is that you please stop referring to me (and reacting to me) as if I am some vigilante poster.

Dont try to explain yourself, Piercdbruh. The logic behind that is simple; whos interests do Democrats represent? Yes, the lowlifes; uneducated, minimum wage lowlifes. There always will be more sheeps than wolves…

And the republicans send out all the lowlifes, uneducated, mimimum wage lowlifes to war, to steal and murder for other peoples resources….isnt it?

  • Osiris

Tracey, you have just proved my point.

First of all republicans are not “is”.

Second, “steal and murder for other peopleS resources” makes nosense whatsoever.

Third, where are the resources that were stolen, and what resources?

Fourth, who started the war on September 11, 2001?

Fifth, our military is a voluntary professional army. They are doing the job that they are paid for; for the better of the country.

    SIT DOWN, read some books.

  • blackgirl

I cant stand this b****. They think she is tough but when Michelle speaks up about the state of her country, she was portrayed as a mad black women. Obama is soo wrong but now republicans have embraced HIS idea of the theme of “change”. Mccain is going to “CHANGE” so much but hasn’t been able to change a dad gum change in the 26 years he has been serving. In fact, Mccain wants so much change, but he himself admits voting with Bush 90 percent of the time. Republicans are straight liers. Then, look at the crowd last night at the Republican Convention, did it look like a unified nation or a bunch of white aarp members? The democratic convention actually resembled a unified country…not just one race of people!!!!!!! Everyday, there is a lil 17 year old pregnant “shaquita, laquita, taquita” and she is tossed aside by society but now this “good value having” “good Christian” white girl is such a hero for getting knocked up? But…..I digress.

It tells me that she has a sensitivity chip missing….. Her own daughter couldn’t come to talk to her about feelings…. Because of her backwards thinking….
