Ok, I’m confused. I know the 2nd Amendment grants us the right to bear arms, because we can have certain guns as long as they’re registered, correct? So how was it EVER constitutional to ban them?? Makes no sense to me.

FACT: Washington DC and Chicago had the strictest gun bans in the country yet incredible crime rates.

Please where gun ownership were high actually have lower crime rates. People are less likely to test you when they don’t know if you’re carrying a burner. However they have no problems when the government tells you you can’t have one and they know they have the upperhanded by having an illegal weapon.

I support this. Next time the thug on the street wants to try to rob grandma or break into her house hopefully he’ll be on the receiving end of a snubnose.

Let’s see how this is going to turn out……….I hope not tragic.

i thought gun related crime was mostly with illegalling acquired guns? so why make guns law stricter when the people committing crimes with guns arent going to a gun store to buy them…?

Sorry, I have to agree with Josh. If the bans actually worked, Chicago and DC wouldn’t have such high gun related crimes.

well they should allow a special permit for felons who have proven to have really redeemed themselves back into society by no recomitting the same or any crime since their original offence. Like make them have to bring their gun in to check it to see it they match to any recent crimes and make them have to re certify more often than people who dont have any charges….since we all for redemption and all lets be forgiving to all walks of life with pasts that show they deserve a second chance, since they cant sing or dance

Why are people so arrogantly stupid? If you follow the proper procedures and pass a back ground check you can own a firearm. If you can’t pass a background check and you obtain one illegally and you get caught then you pay the price. What’s the problem? either you buy a gun or you don’t buy a gun! Who’s twisting your arm?

Wait a minute I need more information. Great they are upholding that all Americans have the right to carry a firearm but it’s already a Constitutional right.

I think ppl are confused. Yes they upheld the right but more importantly I hope they established criteria for those who will actually be allowed to enjoy this right.

I also want to know what was the case that occurred which made this issue reach all of the way up to the Supreme Court.

Citizens who know their way around a gun have always had guns trust on that but now a whole bunch of fools will see their gun as an extention of their balls and wanna be tough guys. I layed down my fair share of folks (legally)in my past profession and its no walk in the park mentally to take a life. In my younger days hittin them licks I’ve been drawn on and taken the pistol from the fool pointing it at me because I smell the fear and pistol whippied his azz with it. Please don’t think a gun is going to solve all your problems because without your participation is just some metal…do you have the balls to pull a trigger and possibly end a life, does the situation warrant your pulling the trigger, if you’re not in imminent danger are you ready to be prosecuted, the courts value life over property so unless you’re being assaulted you can’t shoot someone for stealing your car or leaving out your window with your microwave, bullets have been known to ricochet so who else where else is your bullet going……

Its always been your right to bear arms. Its your constitutional right. States have been trying to throw stipulations in there for the longest especially for people other than (white). Its your right to protect your family and property{land}. If u feel a gun makes u uncomfortable then u better invest in a stun gun or some pepper spray along with a dog.. I live in D.C., where almost every criminal has a gun or can get one with ease. Meanwhile until recently, law-abiding citizens had almost no right to arm themselves to protect their families, homes or businesses. Just in the past week, three shop owners (including a father and son) have been killed in broad daylight, in their own stores. This morning, in nearby Forestville, MD a man was the victim of a home invasion robbery. He was able to get to his gun and shoot and kill one of the robbers, who surely would have done the same to him. The reason for the difference in outcomes is indisputable. I’m convinced that one reason violent crime in the DC area is so high is because the thugs know that people can’t protect themselves. Maybe if youngsters growing up in this area knew there was a strong chance they might get blown away by the owner of a store or home, they be less likely to commit these types of crimes.

Glad the gun laws are being struck down.

Will always remember that guy in NY who kept getting robbed by the same young thug every payday, no matter which route he took home, until he bought a gun and killed him. As tore up as that guy was about having to kill the kid, he couldn’t continue to let his family suffer.

Sometimes law abiding citizens need the protection/deterent that the 2nd amendment affords them.

Also, it’s odd and misguided that every time there is a shooting in the DC area in which innocent people or bystanders are harmed (almost every day), a lot of people in this area protest to call for more gun control laws. In other words, they end up protesting against the right for their law-abiding neighbors to own guns to protect themselves. Who they should be yelling and protesting against are the criminals (and the people who raise them) who don’t give a damn about gun laws and who are going to get them anyway they can to keep shooting up the city like they have been. Those with mentalities twisted enough to shoot children up in drive-byes with AK-47′s don’t give a damn about gun control laws.

Many groups of racist white folk have been stockpiling huge amounts of firepower and ammo for YEARS for what they believe is an impending “race war”. Some are doing all they can to stoke the flames of one in our current climate with a Black President and all.

Black folks are so d@mN DUMB that they cannot see this entire social and legal system has been set in place and administered for the express purpose of keeping us from being (or WANTING to be) legally armed. It is the one way of assuring that you maintain the trump card in conquering people. Thus, we are disproportionately criminalized as soon as possible so that right is immediately taken away.

Like you, I have multiple weapons. I have licensed conceal carry, and have my home well armed. Furthermore, I do take certain precautions in staging and storing my weapons around the house, but at the same time my kids are well aware of them and what they can do. In fact, my 17 year old has been going to the range with me since 15.

Black folks keep SLEEPIN’ if you want to. I know.. you’re just brainwashed. Hey, I hope it never comes to pass that something really goes down in this country on that level, or for someone to try to bust into my home, or attack me or my family.. because it’s definitely a problem then. In the meantime, I owe it to myself and my family to keep us all tempered, educated and proficient as far as firearms go.

read your history. we allready had the right to have guns. they take them away in the city and only the cops and criminals have them. why do I say criminal, if guns are not allowed only criminals will have them. a gun makes a little man feal big. but not when the other guy has one to. if more law abiding people had guns there would be way less gun related killings.

For the record, no law that was ever for, or against guns EVER stopped a thug from kickin doors in! And also, FOR THE RECORD, when was the last time the NAACP did ANYTHING for black folks??? (REALLY???) This law was the best thing that couldve happened… and you know what I’m talkin about if you, or someone you know and love has ever had their door kicked in by some thugs with AUTOMATIC weapons. AND for future reference, to all of you confused about why this issue is in question, just so you know, when the Constitution allows for “federal” mandate, that gives individual states (and certain municipalities) first jurisdiction to write their own laws in regard to that particular amendment. Even so, individuals have the right to fight (or appeal) a state’s ruling on a constitutional amendment — especially if it is allowed for in the Bill of Rights (first 10 amendments of the U.S. Constitution).
