However I do get the point that this thread is trying to make here but it just doesn’t come off right!!! I’m just sayin!

Easy.

When women (especially black women) have standards of what we want in a good man (period) we often get shunned because some people feel that our standards are too “high”, when we are simply asking of what any woman would ask for when finding a compatible mate.

So….we are forced to lower standards. Not saying that I do or have, but I have seen it happen where a female has certain criteria of a man they want, only to see their “list” get broken down by people who believe their standards are too high.

Why is that?

Shoes are easy to pick out because ultimately, they arent going to be laying with us in bed, wanting to build a future with us, and wanting to marry us. I can see the analogy, but its not a very good one.

Fortunately, I choose my men way more carefully than I do a pair of shoes.

Decent analogy…bottomline, some women do put more thought and time in picking out a pair of shoes than they do a damn man.

As the writer illustrated by the example of her friend — her friend knew exactly what kind of shoes she wanted and wasn’t going to be deterred until she found them. Her same friend ‘supposedly’ has identified qualities she wants her mate to have, but always dates men who doesn’t have any of those qualities.

Either her friend doesn’t KNOW what she wants OR is desperate to be any kind of man instead of taking her time to find the person who actually possesses the qualities she says she wants her man to have.

Oh yes yes, I am going to walk up to a shelf of random, eligible men and I am going to try ANY ONE OF THEM to see if they fit the mold of my heart, standards, requirements etc…and walk out with the one that is the best. Life is not that easy, and if you are trying on men like shoes, the women ends up getting used. Stupid point…

The fact of the matter is, a lot of average sistas are not up to par and thus will not be able to attract a good man. Yet she will feel she is worthy of it. Look, I’m not trying to be a hater, but I have a few female friends who are fat, or hairy, or ugly etc. etc. but they want a rich man with the car, the house, the good credit, and the looks! And it ain’t happening! They ask me all the time “how I do it.” I’m like, bytch are you serious???
