A Dayton woman was sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole for burning her baby daughter to death in a microwave oven after fighting with her boyfriend. Common Pleas Judge Mary Wiseman lashed out at China Arnold, 28, who opted to watch her sentencing from a side room on a monitor. “No adjectives exist to adequately describe this heinous atrocity,” Wiseman said. “This act is shocking and utterly abhorrent for a civilized society.”
The judge rejected a plea by Arnold’s attorneys for a minimum sentence of life in prison with the chance of parole after 25 years. A jury spared Arnold the death penalty when it couldn’t reach a consensus. “I am innocent of these charges,” Arnold said in a statement. She was convicted Aug. 29 of aggravated murder in the death of month-old Paris Talley in 2005.
“Heinous Atrocity” is an understatement for what this nutty broad did, and she has the nerve to say she is innocent? How can she even live with herself knowing that she microwaved her baby to death. Ri-goddamn-diculous.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Channel 9’s Eric Rasmussen carefully laid out the facts in the Casey Anthony case with a crime expert to try to piece together what really happened to the woman’s 2-year-old daughter.
At last check, a garage at the sheriff’s office is where detectives took Casey Anthony’s car. They say it contained a number of troubling clues. Combine that with a timeline of events since little Caylee disappeared and at least one expert says there’s a theory building about what really happened to the little girl.
Where is 2-year-old Caylee Anthony? Detectives may not yet have the answer, but it now appears they’re working on one troubling scenario.
“There is a possibility this child is no longer alive?” a prosecutor asked Orange County Detective Yuri Melich during the bond hearing for Casey Anthony on Tuesday.
“Yes, that can be concluded,” Melich said.
He confirmed a series of clues in court on Tuesday.
The Anthony’s Backyard: Involved a tip that Casey Anthony borrowed a shovel from a neighbor. Two cadaver dogs pointed to the smell of decomposition near Caylee’s playhouse.
Casey Anthony’s Car: Detectives reported a different dog alerted to the same strong smell in the trunk after the white Pontiac had been abandoned in a parking lot.
“They have a hypothesis that the child may have somehow p*****ed away,” Dr. Richard Weinblatt told Eyewitness News.
Weinblatt, a former police chief and manager of Seminole Community College’s Criminal Justice Program, said detectives must consider why there was evidence of a body in the car and at the home.
“The body could’ve been placed there and a person or persons could’ve changed their mind and decided to move the body elsewhere,” he said.
Anthony’s family insisted there was another reason for the smell.
“There was a bag of pizza for 12 days in a car full of maggots,” Casey’s mother Cynthia Anthony told reporters while leaving her daughter’s bond hearing Tuesday.
“Do you think you would mistake the smell of a body for trash?” WFTV reporter Eric Rasmussen asked Weinblatt.
“Absolutely not. It’s very, very distinctive,” he said.
Weinblatt says other evidence from the car could solidify the case investigators are building.
“They say they found hair, they found a stain and they found dirt. What are they doing with that evidence? They have to process it. Where did the dirt come from? Does it match soil samples they found in the back yard?” he said.
Orange County detectives have not officially ruled out the chance that Caylee might still be alive and Weinblatt said it’s not uncommon for investigators to consider multiple theories until they can nail one down for sure.

I am a psychiatric nurse (right now I am teaching but ne ways….) and I have heard some horror stories, but I haven’t encountered one this groosome up close and personal. I always say, too bad women don’t have to get a psych evaluation before getting pregnant!!

Hey, Palin herself called herself a pit bull, which I thought was an insult to that breed of dog. If she’s such a pit bull, why hasn’t she done any press interviews or faced any tough questioning aabout her background and positions on the issues with which we voters are concerned?
Her positions we DO know about are way too right wing for most voters. She says there’s no such thing as global warming (or is this just because Alaska is a Big Oil state?). She also used the decision word to describe her 17 year old daughter’s choice to marry and have her baby. Why use a word you would keep others from using?
She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. When the bridge became too controversial as a “pork barrel project”, she changed her mind BUT kept the $300 million and used it for other pork projects!

I don’t even know what kind of punishment to give this lady. The mad side of me wants her to suffer like the child did. Back in the days they use to stone women. That would be terrible today though, but less crimes by women were done back then. Anyways she does need some help, but they always wanna call someone mental and I doubt this lady had any problems. She managed to get a man, stay in good health all throughout her pregnancy, have a baby, knew when to get made, chose to take it out on the baby, put the baby in the microwave, and turned it on. JERUSALEM – A performer with the famed Alvin Ailey dance troupe on Tuesday said he was twice forced to perform steps for Israeli airport security officers to prove his identity before he was permitted to enter the country.
Abdur-Rahim Jackson, an eight-year veteran of the dance ensemble, said he was singled out by Israel’s renowned airport security because he has a Muslim name. He called the experience embarr*****ing and said at one point, one of the officers even suggested he change his name.
“To be greeted like this because of my name, it took me back a little bit,” said Jackson, who is black.
Israel is the first stop on a six-nation tour celebrating the New York-based dance company’s 50th anniversary. Earlier this year, Congress p*****ed a resolution calling the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater a “vital American cultural amb*****ador to the world.”
Jackson said he was pulled aside from other members of the troupe when they arrived at Israel’s international airport on Sunday night. He said he was taken to a holding room, where he was asked about the origins of his name. When he explained he was part of the dance group, he was asked to perform.
“I stood up. I asked what type of dance?” he explained. “He said, “Just do anything.’ I just moved around.”
Minutes later, he said a female officer put him through a similar interrogation and asked him to dance again.
“The only time I’m really expected to dance is when I’m performing,” he said.
Jackson said he received his name because his father was a convert to Islam. Jackson said he was not raised a Muslim, does not consider himself religious and is engaged to a Jewish woman in the troupe who has relatives in Israel.
Jackson said he did not plan to press the matter further, saying the numerous apologies he has received from American dignitaries and his Israeli hosts is “enough for me.” The Israel Ports Authority said it had no comment because it did not receive a formal complaint.
The incident was reported in Israel’s largest newspaper and on an Israeli television news and interview program. “The security guards should be sent home or (the airport) will become a mental asylum,” said Motti Kirshenbaum, a veteran commentator and host of the Channel 10 TV program.
Israel is constantly on the alert for attack because of the Israel-Palestinian conflict and extremist Islamic rejection of the Jewish state’s existence. Security is strict at all entry points and inside the country.
Israel is famous for the effectiveness of its airport security. But a key element in its security checks is ethnic profiling. The practice has been criticized by Israeli human rights campaigners as racist because it singles out Arabs for tougher treatment.
Such profiling is illegal in the United States, but Jackson said that the only place he has had the similarly humiliating experience of being forced to dance in the past was at a U.S. airport when he returned from a vacation in the Dominican Republic. He did not say when or where that took place.
Jackson said that since the Israeli airport incident, the reception in Israel has been “amazing.”
“We’re only here to bring positive light to our lives and the people here,” he said, calling the group’s multicultural appeal “an amazing bind you can’t touch, you can only experience.”

I’m from Dayton, been following the trial, and based on the testmonies from the two young boys that have changed their stories several times, and claimed that one boy took the baby in the kitchen and then he heard the microwave, I really think she didn’t do it. That’s only my opinion and I could be wrong, but after hearing much of the case and the evidence, it just doesn’t add up to me. If she did it, she deserves to rot in a prison cell, but if she didn’t we’ll never know…Either way this is a sad story because a baby was tortured.
Honestly, my dad doesn’t care about what color ***** I suck. My parents aren’t racist either. Sorry.

See, none of the websites are giving you all the rest of the story. There are children who are relatives of the father’s side of the family who are stating there is another child who has a history of “putting things in the microwave”, saw him put the baby in the microwave and take the baby out of the house. The parents had been arguing. The paternal aunt of the baby, who lives a few houses down from the mother, told the couple to go out and talk. They had been arguing about the paternity of the baby. The FATHER kept stating he didn’t know if it was his. The MOTHER (CHINA) had always stated it was his. They both went out and got drunk. The paternal aunt was watching the kids. When they came back, China was tore down drunk and went to sleep on the couch. The father went a couple houses down the local crack/weed house, gave his sister the key and told her to check on China. The other kids were in the house upstairs sleeping and China was on the couch. The house was open. There are witnesses stating they saw the little boy take something in a blanket out of the house and later come back in the house. The prosecutions star witness has now recanted her story and says now she wants to tell the truth:China never told her she did anything to the baby. There are witnesses who have come forward to say they heard the little fella say he put the baby in the microwave before forensics even knew what type of burns the baby had and how she died. So, I say all that to say this, there are still MANY, MANY unanswered questions and the media should state the facts of the story instead of providing a slanted view for your reading enjoyment and for sensationalism.
Well, if she didn’t do it she and the father are still responsible because they MADE the baby and are thereby responsible for it’s wellbeing and care even in their absence. And even if she is depressed or has postpartum – I don’t care how sad you are you do not microwave a baby. That is psychopathic.
I also don’t care if she was black or white. Anyone that kills a child is wrong.

They got pics of her (casey) partying, dancing on girls days after the grandmother reported the girl missing, they cant find the “nanny”, they found hair from a decomposing body in the back of her car and this psycho is still in the land of the free?! Amazing. She’s gonna get away w/ it. Oh and those grandparents.. they just as guilty as she is.. Thats why I LOVE Nancy Grace.. that lady is sharp and knows exactly what’s sup.. just sad man. Michigan Republicans plan to foreclose African American voters
The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOP’s effort to challenge some voters on Election Day.
“We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses,” party chairman James Carabelli told Michigan Messenger in a telephone interview earlier this week. He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed.
State election rules allow parties to *****ign “election challengers” to polls to monitor the election. In addition to observing the poll workers, these volunteers can challenge the eligibility of any voter provided they “have a good reason to believe” that the person is not eligible to vote. One allowable reason is that the person is not a “true resident of the city or township.”
The Michigan Republicans’ planned use of foreclosure lists is apparently an attempt to challenge ineligible voters as not being “true residents.”
One expert questioned the legality of the tactic.
“You can’t challenge people without a factual basis for doing so,” said J. Gerald Hebert, a former voting rights litigator for the U.S. Justice Department who now runs the Campaign Legal Center, a Washington D.C.-based public-interest law firm. “I don’t think a foreclosure notice is sufficient basis for a challenge, because people often remain in their homes after foreclosure begins and sometimes are able to negotiate and refinance.”
As for the practice of challenging the right to vote of foreclosed property owners, Hebert called it, “mean-spirited.”
GOP ties to state’s largest foreclosure law firm
The Macomb GOP’s plans are another indication of how John McCain’s campaign stands to benefit from the burgeoning number of foreclosures in the state. McCain’s regional headquarters are housed in the office building of foreclosure specialists Trott & Trott. The firm’s founder, David A. Trott, has raised between $100,000 and $250,000 for the Republican nominee.
The Macomb County party’s plans to challenge voters who have defaulted on their house payments is likely to disproportionately affect African-Americans who are overwhelmingly Democratic voters. More than 60 percent of all sub-prime loans — the most likely kind of loan to go into default — were made to African-Americans in Michigan, according to a report issued last year by the state’s Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
Challenges to would-be voters
Statewide, the Republican Party is gearing up for a comprehensive voter challenge campaign, according to Denise Graves, party chair for Republicans in Genessee County, which encomp*****es Flint. The party is creating a spreadsheet of election challenger volunteers and expects to coordinate a training with the regional McCain campaign, Graves said in an interview with Michigan Messenger.
Whether the Republicans will challenge voters with foreclosed homes elsewhere in the state is not known.
Kelly Harrigan, deputy director of the GOP’s voter programs, confirmed that she is coordinating the group’s “election integrity” program. Harrigan said the effort includes putting in place a legal team, as well as training election challengers. She said the challenges to voters were procedural rather than personal. She referred inquiries about the vote challenge program to communications director Bill Knowles who promised information but did not return calls.
Party chairman Carabelli said that the Republican Party is training election challengers to “make sure that [voters] are who they say who they are.”
When asked for further details on how Republicans are compiling challenge lists, he said, “I would rather not tell you all the things we are doing.”
Vote suppression: Not an isolated effort
Carabelli is not the only Republican Party official to suggest the targeting of foreclosed voters. In Ohio, Doug Preisse, director of elections in Franklin County (around the city of Columbus) and the chair of the local GOP, told The Columbus Dispatch that he has not ruled out challenging voters before the election due to foreclosure-related address issues.
Hebert, the voting-rights lawyer, sees a connection between Priesse’s remarks and Carabelli’s plans.
“At a minimum what you are seeing is a fairly comprehensive effort by the Republican Party, a systematic broad-based effort to put up obstacles for people to vote,” he said. “*****ody is contending that these people are not legally registered to vote.
“When you are comprehensively challenging people to vote,” Hebert went on, “your goals are two-fold: One is you are trying to knock people out from casting ballots; the other is to create a slowdown that will discourage others,” who see a long line and realize they can’t afford to stay and wait.
Challenging all voters registered to foreclosed homes could disrupt some polling places, especially in the Detroit metropolitan area. According to the real estate Web site RealtyTrac, one in every 176 households in Wayne County, metropolitan Detroit, received a foreclosure filing during the month of July. In Macomb County, the figure was one household in every 285, meaning that 1,834 homeowners received the bad news in just one month. The Macomb County foreclosure rate puts it in the top three percent of all U.S. counties in the number of distressed homeowners.
Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Kent and Genessee counties were — in that order — the counties with the most homeowners facing foreclosure, according to RealtyTrac. As of July, there were more than 62,000 foreclosure filings in the entire state.
Joe Rozell, director of elections for Oakland County in suburban Detroit, acknowledged that challenges such as those described by Carabelli are allowed by law but said they have the potential to create long lines and disrupt the voting process. With 890,000 potential voters closely divided between Democratic and Republican, Oakland County is a key swing county of this swing state.
According to voter challenge directives handed down by Republican Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, voter challenges need only be “based on information obtained through a reliable source or means.”
“But poll workers are not allowed to ask the reason” for the challenges, Rozell said. In other words, Republican vote challengers are free to use foreclosure lists as a basis for disqualifying otherwise eligible voters.
David Lagstein, head organizer with the Michigan *****ociation of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), described the plans of the Macomb GOP as “crazy.”
“You would think they would think, ‘This is going to look too heartless,’” said Lagstein, whose group has registered 200,000 new voters statewide this year and also runs a foreclosure avoidance program. “The Republican-led state Senate has not moved on the anti-predatory lending bill for over a year and yet [Republicans] have time to prey on those who have fallen victim to foreclosure to suppress the vote.”

When you hear the details of the case, you start to see that it’s likely she did not kill her daughter, ONE OF THE LITTLE BOYS IN THE HOUSE DID. Do I think she’s responsible for her child, yes. Was she guilty of negligence, yes. Did she microwave her baby, no. People wanna believe the story, urban baby-mama kills kid in microwave out of fear that baby’s dad will find out baby isn’t his…That’s storybook CSI, people watch too much TV and not enough of the details. I would never come to the defense of a murderer, but lets charge her with being negligent, irresponsible, maybe even crazy but if the evidence points at another person committing the crime, then tune out of Law and Order and consider the facts even if that means possibly convicting a young boy.
I highly doubt they would convict a young boy especially if he’s not at the age of accountability. If this child had a problem with putting things in the microwave, somebody should’ve been watching him. There’s negligence all around this case, but the bottom line is obviously the jury didn’t buy the story b/c they gave her life w/no parole.

The jury couldn’t come up with a sentence. They went a few days and were hung. Honestly, with the information that is out, I think she will get another trial only because all the evidence wasn’t presented AND the prosecutors witness has stated she was offered something and she did not tell the truth i.e that China stated she put the baby in the microwave and she just fit right in. The witness for the prosecution has changed her story more than once. Sandra Troll is stating on her website this woman told the prosecution she put the baby in the microwave. SHE HAS NEVER STATED NOR CONFESSED TO THE PROSECUTION TO PUTTING THAT BABY IN THE MICROWAVE. Sandra made the ish up!

As far as her being negligient, THEY ALL WERE. China was tore up, Talley (the baby’s dad) was getting high in the “spot” and knew she was in the house tore up, the paternal aunt went home, a couple of houses down, to take care of her own children. I mean, how many times have folks have been at home tipsy (or smoking–for weed and “other” smokers) and the kids are sleep and think I’ll just sleep it off??? Well, this time, something went horribly wrong and everyone is paying the price!!!

I, myself, am not trying to excuses for anyone. That baby was made by BOTH PARENTS and BOTH PARENTS should be held accountable for the child’s wellbeing, or lack thereof. Re: “reading enjoyment”, that is speaking of the slanted view presented to the reader to evoke biased emotion, such as “fry her and burn her”, without providing all the information to the reader to make their OWN decision. So she gets into an arguement with her baby’s daddy and because he more than likely walked out on her, she puts her baby in a Microwave? (Hey, that’s what the paper’s said).
