These were defenseless individuals who were picked randomly, as has been in the case in a number of other serial killings (the D.C. sniper murders, for example).

Yes, I live in the DMV, so when the news of the charges broke yesterday, I read some articles on Scott. For someone to reportedly be so devious as to use a database to target victims is terrifying. I think of how someone I know could have easily become one of his victims, or even myself.
