Diddy aka P. Diddy aka Puff Daddy has agreed to drop the latest name he has taken, “Diddy” in Britain after lawsuit. London based producer Richard “Diddy” Dearlove filed a lawsuit after Diddy changed his name citing unfair competition, also stating the name change may cause confusion.
Diddy’s lawyers had this to say:
Combs, 36, had agreed to “rebrand his commercial activities” in Britain and would “no longer be able to trade in the U.K. as ‘Diddy.’” Combs also agreed to pay Dearlove’s costs, as well as “significant” damages, Dearlove’s lawyer said.
Diddy also had this to say on his myspace page:
About the name thing….
“It’s only fair that since he said he used Diddy first, that he be allowed to use it.” “I am blessed that I have many, many names to choose from and on October 17th, Press Play will be released from Diddy in the U.S. and from P.Diddy in Europe.”
