I agree with you on watching your money and the banks! My boss and I were discussing how we were raised to not put your eggs in one basket, you need to spread your money out. I have some money in BOA, the majority in a credit union, an IRA through one credit union, a money market account with Chase, and 3 credit cards. I wish someone would go under, I have my mother options. I’ve also made sure to not get involved in small banks that branch off the majors like Wachovia, WaMu, BOA, etc., because those divisions will go under before the big boys do. You can lose EVERYTHING when one of those groups close, and the bigger banks won’t do anything. If you’re a customer with the larger owner bank, you stand a better chance.

Then again, anything goes in banking and finance these days. Everything I “think” I know could be moot once the sh!t hits the fan.

I havent’ been able to read the entire NYT piece, but I was read was very true.

I attended a business magnet high school and we had a teacher that was always predicting financial collapse and doom, and he’d sight things back from the Regan era and the first George Bush messing things up for Clinton. I didn’t understand it and was like, yeah yeah yeah.

FUNNY that now BOA has bought up so much to stop the “collapse” from happening, and now the government is stepping in and bailing people out. I can’t believe that all the stuff our nutty, doomsday teacher said is coming to fruition. He was a community college professor and a guess lecturer at two private colleges here in north Texas, and he was published a few times.

It’s amazing what I blessed to learn in high school and how it’s all making sense now that I’m a “grown up” with retirement money, rental houses I’m responsible for, and investment funds so I could stay at home when I get a family.

And notice I said “Stay” as in the past tense, because with the way things are going, I’ll be working on an oil rig in Oklahoma, or serving up suds at the local dive bar to make ends meet.

I cooked for the lady who recommended me for my new job! She and her son came to my house, and I rotissieried a chicken, made fresh green beans cooked with smoked turkey necks, homemade garlic mashed potatoes, and fresh cornbread (no Jiffy!). Mmmmm – had leftovers for lunch today.

@Diva: I looooove Halloween! My b-day is the 29th, and I usually do up the candy stash pretty well. This year, I plan on hooking it up big, and the next day I am going to have a wine tasting/potluck at my house to celebrate my natal anniversary.

@sxyQ: I do not give out candy to big-assed teenagers showing up at my door with nothing but a pillowcase. I only make exceptions if they are escorting kiddies around with them. I also hook parents up, too! Any of them carrying around infants and toddlers in costume gets a pass from me!
