Yeezy’s done it again! Rapper/producer Kanye West has some folks up in arms about whether or not he’s THE person to continue where Michael Jackson left off after making the following comments at a screening for his short film Runaway in London last week:
At a press junket following the London screening of Kanye West’s short film Runaway, the controversial rapper half-jokingly compared a meeting he had with Michael Jackson to the scene in Iron Man 2 when the father passes his power down to Tony Stark.
West added that he “had to keep this thing going” now that Michael’s gone. “I feel extra convicted with the passing of Michael Jackson
There will never be another King of Pop as far as we’re concerned, MJ was THE ONE — but we kind of see where Kanye was going with the comment since, much like Michael Jackson he possesses both incredible talent and huge vision. There aren’t a lot of other entertainers out there that are trying to do it BIG like Ye.
What do you think? Is Kanye the next artist to have the kind of influence that Michael Jackson held? Will he ever surpass Jay-Z and Beyonce? Or are we comparing apples and oranges since Kanye’s personality and music is so different from Michael Jackson’s?
