In addition, a considerable amount of blacks are still not registered to vote. This is possibly largely due to the fact that many blacks are not inspired by Barack’s feel good speeches and feel that American political discourse never addresses their issues…even when there’s a black man campaigning.

@TMHESQ. The black voting bloc that I mentioned(from quotes written by Walter Mosley) is in no way repesented by blacks that are coming out in support of Barack for two reasons: (1) the black voting bloc envisioned in my prior post is designed around interest that are unique to blacks and adds, for mass appeal, centrist interest to draw in other ethnic and racial groups (i.e. healthcare, etc.). Barack’s campaign does not include interest that are unique to black people. And Barack has not include in his platform issues that are unique to the black struggle in America. Barack avoids speaking on issues of race as much as possible, unless he’s bad-mouthing black men for their negligence in raising their kids,of course (which gains him much white support).

Second, the black bloc envisioned in my previous post would garner more blac voters than the current number of black voters because it would be speaking to issues that are, once again, unique to black people rather than the issues determined by the capitalists democrat party. Most of the contributions that oil the wheels of both the democrat and republican party come from corporations and serve corporate interests, not blacks’ interests.

Hi all. @ Cleaner: You are obviously well read, but your analysis falls short in this respect. You are watching the “Black voting Bloc” that you espouse right NOW, as galvanized by the Obama campaign. That the Black electorate has never been so energized in U.S., with perhaps the exception of the late ’60′s, cannot be disputed. The Afrocentric Bloc that you envision will never be effective given the relatively small population of Blacks in America and the continued backlash against “real” Black progress, or the progress of the underclass, quite frankly. (Capitalism means that someone must necessarily be exploited).

Notice that Obama’s campaign is about inclusion and is somewhat centrist, which allows him to use the current political/economic structure which is in place to his advantage. Black militancy has its place (I will not say what it is b/c everything is not for every ear), but trust me, it’s not in a presidential campaign in 2008, or I dare say any SUCCESSFUL election in the U.S. There will be no “Revolution.”

I agree with eddiedollars215. Most people supporting Barack Obama(and John McCain for that matter) are casual voters whose opinions are based on feelings and biased reports from cnn and faux news. The people that have posted above are clearly not educated in matters of politics or instituting social change. Successful revolutions don’t happen in the context of bi-partisan elections nor do they center around a charismatic so-called leader that gives a feel-good speech every now and then. Revolutions occur when people take it upon themselves to change their own lives by taking action. Our ancestors were misguided in fighting to be apart of this corrupt construct called America. When are we going to wake up and realize that working through avenues provided by your enemies doesn’t work?

Don’t let them steal this from us:

Check your registration status, re-register if your registration is some how no longer current, if your house has been foreclosed on re-register with a current address, if you’ve previously been convicted and have served your time and probation check your ability to register to vote, don’t just assume you can’t vote. Be very vigilant at the polls as the Repubs will be out in force trying to challenge votes so if you see anything that doesn’t look right, report it. You may not want to wear your Obama gear at the polls as this may be another reason for them to challenge due to “electioneering”. I’d also encourage you to vote on election day if you can to reduce some of the fraud that occurs with early voting ballots. OBAMA/BIDEN 08 (if not, Canada here I come!)

Before you go to the polls, get educated – know the rules. Twenty-four states require some form of identification. Seven of those, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan and South Dakota, require photo identification.
