Eminem should not have been the number 1 rapper, although I think Eminem is lyrical better in some aspects, there is no way that he has made a bigger overall impact that Lil Wayne. This list was definitely some BS. First of all, so what if Hammerhead Drake got unbelievable hype in the last two years? So did Ja Rule (the original rap/singer) when he first came out in the early 00′s, so why wasn’t he nominated to be on the list? Didn’t his first album come out in 1999 (part of the stupid criteria – because 1999 is in the 20th century – for this list)?

Secondly, Lil’ Wayne should have been further down that list, maybe #4 or #5. He’s not as lyrically intelligent or witty as Kanye West. T.I and Ludacris, I like them both, but she should have been lower on that list as well.

Thirdly, Nelly was sales and singles wise, behind Eminem so she def should have been in the top 5 and also became a cultural phenomenon. And yes, DMX should have been list, but his first album came out in ’97 (or ’98).

If you read the article it says “list of rappers who have made the biggest impact in the last 10 years”. Proven fact: Eminem has sold over 80 million records worldwide which is even more than Tupac. Tupac is clearly more influential and the better rapper out of the two, in my opinion. Eminem’s numbers speak for themselves when it comes to the rapper with the biggest impact. He has proven that his skills are better than a majority of the rappers out there.

Mos Def and Common debuted before 1999 too folks so they had to be exlcluded. Including 50 is laughable. Excluding Nelly is questionable. Wayne is too high up. Teflon is too low. I do think they need to do another list that doesn’t incorporate the materialistic criteria, but is simply based on being a lyricist. Then, you’d see some of the greats included. Nas, Talib, Mos, Common for example. And you’d have to throw in some oldies but goodies like Lyte, Chuck D, Sha Rock, etc. etc. This list does show the progression of talent in hip hop and how being commercial doesn’t necessarily depend on talent.

Some of the picks are reasonable: Kanye, Eminem, Weezy, TI. However, the rest are based solely on popularity. I mean c’mon.. if this whole list was based on lyrical skills and flow, then it should have artists like Lupe Fiasco, Wale, JCole, Nas, Jay Z etc. rather than 50 cent, Jeezy, Ludacris, Rick Ross. C’mon!!!

All commercial, shitty rappers, with possibly the exceptions being Eminem and Jadakiss, who have released some sensible music. Not top 10 compared to the bangers that the undergrounds delivers though.

I really do not agree with that list. I don’t think Young Jeezy, Jadakiss, or Rick Ross should have been on there. With those three empty spaces, Jay-Z definitely should have been there and closer to the top.

Drake is really pushing it too. He has been prominent the past couple years, but they kept pointing out that this list is for the decade. If you consider that, then I don’t think Drake belonged there.

I feel that T.I. should have been behind Luda. Luda should have been top 5.

I agree pretty much with the top 3. I am not a Kanye fan, but he does belong in the top 3. I was initially undecided between Eminem and Wayne, but considering the full decade, I think Eminem has been more consistent.

Actually it was never really “released” He spent his own money to get 1k tapes and 1k Cds pressed up on his own and released it himself to a local crowd in Detroit.

The criteria was garbage therefore the list is gonna be garbage, like really jayz has more albums in the 21st history than the 20th century way ain’t he in.the list, jadakiss is overrated, fab not on this list like really the staff at bet is dumb for setting.up stupid criteria to qualify for this list…

Too soon for Lil Wayne, he just came up 3 yrs ago. Too soon for Drake and his album is wack, he’s only good featuring on ppl’s songs. JEEZY is wack. RICK ROSS is trash and its too soon for him too. T.I. is OK at best. JADAKISS is one of my top 5 of all time but is lack of sales dont qualify him to be on the list.

If this list is about popularity then Jah Rule and Nelly should have definitely been there. Its not a lyrical only contest. Eminem is phenomenal but should not have received #1 for the 21st century. Its funny how 99 is included when that’s 20th century…but then that would exclude Eminem right? Eminem just outsells all the others so that’s why he gets #1…Wayne and Kanye is the most INFLUENTIAL to the style of our modern day music…I would have put #1 Wayne #2 Kanye #3 Eminem<–(because he's still referred to as a "white" rapper nough said) the rest I don't care about the order but Fab, Nelly, Andre 3000, Game, Jah Rule should have made it. This list seems more like Best Rappers from 2008-2010 than it does a 21st century list.
