One of my favorite actresses, Angela Bassett, is playing the role of Voretta Wallace. Angela’s timing and delivery is great. This will be on my to do list.

————————————————-
Mr Ivanoff Klavowski of Poland created hip hop. His grandson who lived in the Bronx in the 70’s lived in a predominantly black neighborhood due to the racial divided between immigrants from and so-called “white” America. His grandson in turn introduced it the music his grandfather was making to his friends at the time who happened to be black. They termed it hip hop because as they danced to the music the grandfather whose hip had been injured in an accident was only able to hop along to the music. Do your research next time you decide to make statements about something you obviously know nothing about.
I have to agree with NYC being the top city in the US.
NYC can NEVER fall off.
@ You Know !
Not trying to start an argument or an incendiary discussion, but may I ask where you got this information?
My mother who grew up in the South Bronx and was the girlfriend of Spooney G at the time. Who was in fact doing what’s called “Rapping”, at house parties waaayyyyy before it was ever commercialized by The Sugar Hill Gang.
Sorry You Know,
We don’t believe you, you need more people!!!
@ You Know !
By the Sugar Hill Gang? WTH?!?
Do you really know your Hip-Hop HIStory?
Sorry, but maybe that’s your first time hearing about it. I never heard anything about this person. For one, I know it did NOT start with the SHG. Besides Rap is just one element of Hip-Hop.
You don’t have to believe me. Unfortunately none of the people who actually pioneered the music form are still around to give credence to what I’m saying. Just so your not confused the music the grandfather was making was not in English but the concept was the same. The grandfather at one time was actually an Emcee at weddings and started the practice of commenting on what was going on verbally over the microphone to the music and eventually how he was the best at it. Later on after coming to America he was overheard by his grandson and he liked what he heard. His grandson having been raised in a predominantly black neighbor and a frequent guest at house parties in the Bronx introduced it to his friends through his grandfather, who were djs. The grandson being fluent in English translated what he was saying and they adopted their own style and adapted it to their music.
NYC FELL OFF ONCE BIGGIE WAS MURDERED…
I know it didn’t start with The Sugar Hill Gang I already said that they were the first to be commercially successful at it.
@ You Know !
Sorry, I am still not convinced that this is the humble beginnings of what would develop into Hip-Hop.
Oh well, I tried. I probably wouldn’t have believed it either it I hadn’t been around to see it form the beginning to where it is now. It’s really a shame what it turned into, it started out being about having a good time.
@ You Know !
And it still is…where it counts. Hip-Hop was not supposed to be “grasped” by the masses. As long as today’s femcees/emcees continue to dishonor the Hip-Hop lifestyle it will continue to be exploited and destroyed.
that trailor was wack as shit
The Faith they chose just makes me too fvkn upset! Like REALLY THOUGH???
I was/ still am a definite Biggie Fan, but I think the movie looks like Garbage. I’ll most likely wait till it hits HBO to watch it, unless someone else chooses to pay the $9 for me…haha
AW B0Y THIS G0NA BE A BADD ASS M0VIE CANT WAIT R.I.P. BIGGIE H0W U LIKE THE M0VIE 0F UR LIFE AS WELL!
I’ve seen better trailers.

^^^^^^^
Didnt i say NY created Hiphop…
Bronx is in NYC right… or are you saying that it was invented in Poland?
and Los Angeles is the top city… and has the bigger economy…
say what you want about HipHop… the world is better with it than without it….
BK STAAAAND UP!!!!!
NYC BAAAABY!!!
Was never a fan and don’t plan on watching the movie in the theaters, maybe I’ll watch online. For my money the G.O.A.T is The 18th Letter Always & Forever, The R Baby, The R.
R-A-K-I-M for those who did not know.

ill be seein it …big was my nigga…it’ll b nice to revisit when hip hop made me happy
I’ll wait for that Garbage to come out on video tape. Now what they should have done was made a movie about the Immortal Tupac Amaru Shakur. THAT would be significant.
This will not be acurate his mother will portray him as she see fit,not by how he really was. I could tell that in her interviews she would get mad when ever some one spoke how big and kim would fight and things like that she would be pissed off. So really I don’t want to see some watered down version of his life. I would love to see the real deal
yeah ill watch this shit on dvd. Smh
Is it just me, or does it look like someone is giving someone some dome at one point in the trailer?
The girl playin Kim is a little dark, but other than that…I’ll be seeing it, not because I really care about rap music that much (I was jammin’ to Lenny Kravitz while y’all were listening to the East Coast/West Coast beef), but because I support any movie featuring my soror Angela Bassett. I even bought “Vampires in Brooklyn” from the $5 bin at Wal-Mart!
can’t wait to see this
I just hope everyone’s agood actor, we know Angela got it on lock though….but please let this be good.
First off angela bassett isn’t enough to c this movie, how big is her part going to b really? Big’s mother had alot to do with the storyline so i doubt it will b what we want to c. The cute part is his son by Faith will b playing him as a little boy.
