This ITCHBAY is a trip, for real:

Sarah Palin told Americans ‘not to forget Haiti’ yesterday, at the end of her two-day visit to the crisis-hit Caribbean county, which is still feeling the effects of an earthquake that killed 230,000 people in January and displaced over a million more. She has admitted she is considering a run for President in 2012.

Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, has been struggling to reconstruct buildings since the natural disaster struck almost 12 months ago – and Haitians are now suffering a cholera epidemic and there is political upheaval. The 46-year-old former governor of Alaska and ex-vice presidential candidate, who was trying to raise awareness of the country’s plight, visited Haiti with her husband, Todd, and her daughter, Bristol, as well as the Reverend Franklin Graham, who helps organise Samaritan’s Purse projects. There have been riots and violence that have followed the dysfunctional November 28 election, and Mrs Palin said at a short press conference outside a Samaritan’s Purse warehouse at a barren town about seven miles north of capital Port-au-Prince: ‘I do urge Americans not to forget Haiti. Get out of your comfort zone and volunteer to help. ‘I know that there’s been some discussion of U.S. aid perhaps being lifted from this area. ‘There were such ravaged conditions and environmental aspects of this country before the earthquake. ‘Haiti has been a country that has suffered in the past, that’s going to continue to suffer until some fundamental changes are being made here.

‘Again – not to get political – but if some of the politicians would come here and see the conditions, perhaps they would see a need for, say, a military airlift to come bring supplies that are so needed here.’

It was not clear what she was referring to and a spokeswoman declined to elaborate.Mrs Palin spoke about seeing first-hand the challenging economic, political and environmental conditions in which Haitians live and called for a reformed approach, including the need for job creation in agriculture and tourism sectors. ‘God created man to work, to produce, to be able to contribute and to take care of one’s own family and one’s own community,’ she added. Mrs Palin visited Samaritan’s Purse projects including cholera clinics where people are being treated for extreme dehydration. More than 2,000 people have died of the disease, which scientists believe was recently reintroduced into Haiti, and nearly 100,000 have fallen ill.

Mrs Palin’s trip was largely closed to the press and she declined to take questions at the news conference. She travelled in part by helicopter and the aid group refused to reveal her itinerary, citing security concerns. Mrs Palin, who is considering a presidential run in 2012, did not refer to the political chaos and charges of electoral fraud, which have led to calls for the administration of President Barack Obama to suspend aid to Haiti.

SMH…fawk this broad…she needs to go sit her a$$ down for real!
