In a letter to be published in the November issue, the Democratic presidential candidate is given a page to address the readers of the urban music monthly magazine. In it, Obama urges them to register to vote, saying, “We are at a defining moment in our history. I am running for president to take this country in a new direction. But I can’t do it alone. I need you,” the letter reads. “Whether it’s the first time, or the first time in a long time, I need you to register and vote on November 4.”
It doesn’t get any more blatant than writing a letter directly to people. The man needs help from all of us to take the presidency and to have the type of impact he is speaking about once he gets there. If you don’t care enough to get behind him, no sweat; it’s only the future of this country that’s at stake!

This election is about the past vs. the future. It’s about whether we settle for the same divisions and distractions and drama that passes for politics today or whether we reach for a politics of common sense and innovation, a politics of shared sacrifice and shared prosperity.
There are those who will continue to tell us that we can’t do this, that we can’t have what we’re looking for, that we can’t have what we want, that we’re peddling false hopes. But here is what I know. I know that when people say we can’t overcome all the big money and influence in Washington, I think of that elderly woman who sent me a contribution the other day, an envelope that had a money order for $3.01 along with a verse of scripture tucked inside the envelope. So don’t tell us change isn’t possible. That woman knows change is possible.
When I hear the cynical talk that blacks and whites and Latinos can’t join together and work together, I’m reminded of the Latino brothers and sisters I organized with and stood with and fought with side by side for jobs and justice on the streets of Chicago. So don’t tell us change can’t happen.
When I hear that we’ll never overcome the racial divide in our politics, I think about that Republican woman who used to work for Strom Thurmond, who is now devoted to educating inner city-children and who went out into the streets of South Carolina and knocked on doors for this campaign. Don’t tell me we can’t change.
Yes, we can. Yes, we can change. Yes, we can.
Yes, we can heal this nation. Yes, we can seize our future. And as we leave this great state with a new wind at our backs and we take this journey across this great country, a country we love, with the message we carry from the plains of Iowa to the hills of New Hampshire, from the Nevada desert to the South Carolina coast, the same message we had when we were up and when we were down, that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we will hope.

SECTION-BY-SECTION ANALYSIS OF THE LEGISLATION
Section 1. Short Title.
“Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.”
Section 2. Purposes.
Provides authority to the Treasury Secretary to restore liquidity and stability to the U.S. financial system and to ensure the economic well-being of Americans.
Section 3. Definitions.
Contains various definitions used under this Act.
Title I. Troubled Assets Relief Program.
Section 101. Purchases of Troubled Assets.
Authorizes the Secretary to establish a Troubled Asset Relief Program (”TARP”) to purchase troubled assets from financial institutions. Establishes an Office of Financial Stability within the Treasury Department to implement the TARP in consultation with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the FDIC, the Comptroller of the Currency, the Director of the Office of Thrift Supervision and the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Requires the Treasury Secretary to establish guidelines and policies to carry out the purposes of this Act.
Includes provisions to prevent unjust enrichment by participants of the program.
Section 102. Insurance of Troubled Assets.
If the Secretary establishes the TARP program, the Secretary is required to establish a program to guarantee troubled assets of financial institutions.
The Secretary is required to establish risk-based premiums for such guarantees sufficient to cover anticipated claims. The Secretary must report to Congress on the establishment of the guarantee program.
Section 103. Considerations.
In using authority under this Act, the Treasury Secretary is required to take a number of considerations into account, including the interests of taxpayers, minimizing the impact on the national debt, providing stability to the financial markets, preserving homeownership, the needs of all financial institutions regardless of size or other characteristics, and the needs of local communities. Requires the Secretary to examine the long-term viability of an institution in determining whether to directly purchase assets under the TARP.
Section 104. Financial Stability Oversight Board.
This section establishes the Financial Stability Oversight Board to review and make recommendations regarding the exercise of authority under this Act. In addition, the Board must ensure that the policies implemented by the Secretary protect taxpayers, are in the economic interests of the United States, and are in accordance with this Act.
The Board is comprised of the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Director of the Federal Home Finance Agency, the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Section 105. Reports.
Monthly Reports: Within 60 days of the first exercise of authority under this Act and every month thereafter, the Secretary is required to report to Congress its activities under TARP, including detailed financial statements.
Tranche Reports: For every $50 billion in assets purchased, the Secretary is required to report to Congress a detailed description of all transactions, a description of the pricing mechanisms used, and justifications for the financial terms of such transactions.
Regulatory Modernization Report: Prior to April 30, 2009, the Secretary is required to submit a report to Congress on the current state of the financial markets, the effectiveness of the financial regulatory system, and to provide any recommendations.
Section 106. Rights; Management; Sale of Troubled Assets; Revenues and Sale Proceeds.
Establishes the right of the Secretary to exercise authorities under this Act at any time. Provides the Secretary with the authority to manage troubled assets, including the ability to determine the terms and conditions associated with the disposition of troubled assets. Requires profits from the sale of troubled assets to be used to pay down the national debt.
Section 107. Contracting Procedures.
Allows the Secretary to waive provisions of the Federal Acquisition Regulation where compelling circumstances make compliance contrary to the public interest. Such waivers must be reported to Congress within 7 days. If provisions related to minority contracting are waived, the Secretary must develop alternate procedures to ensure the inclusion of minority contractors.
Allows the FDIC to be selected as an asset manager for residential mortgage loans and mortgage-backed securities.
Section 108. Conflicts of Interest.
The Secretary is required to issue regulations or guidelines to manage or prohibit conflicts of interest in the administration of the program.
Section 109. Foreclosure Mitigation Efforts.
For mortgages and mortgage-backed securities acquired through TARP, the Secretary must implement a plan to mitigate foreclosures and to encourage servicers of mortgages to modify loans through Hope for Homeowners and other programs. Allows the Secretary to use loan guarantees and credit enhancement to avoid foreclosures. Requires the Secretary to coordinate with other federal entities that hold troubled assets in order to identify opportunities to modify loans, considering net present value to the taxpayer.
A D V E R T I S E M E N T
Section 110. Assistance to Homeowners.
Requires federal entities that hold mortgages and mortgage-backed securities, including the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the FDIC, and the Federal Reserve to develop plans to minimize foreclosures. Requires federal entities to work with servicers to encourage loan modifications, considering net present value to the taxpayer.
Section 111. Executive Compensation and Corporate Governance.
Provides that Treasury will promulgate executive compensation rules governing financial institutions that sell it troubled assets. Where Treasury buys assets directly, the institution must observe standards limiting incentives, allowing clawback and prohibiting golden parachutes. When Treasury buys assets at auction, an institution that has sold more than $300 million in assets is subject to additional taxes, including a 20% excise tax on golden parachute payments triggered by events other than retirement, and tax deduction limits for compensation limits above $500,000.
Section 112. Coordination With Foreign Authorities and Central Banks.
Requires the Secretary to coordinate with foreign authorities and central banks to establish programs similar to TARP.
Section 113. Minimization of Long-Term Costs and Maximization of Benefits for Taxpayers.
In order to cover losses and administrative costs, as well as to allow taxpayers to share in equity appreciation, requires that the Treasury receive non-voting warrants from participating financial institutions.
Section 114. Market Transparency.
48-hour Reporting Requirement: The Secretary is required, within 2 business days of exercising authority under this Act, to publicly disclose the details of any transaction.
Section 115. Graduated Authorization to Purchase.
Authorizes the full $700 billion as requested by the Treasury Secretary for implementation of TARP. Allows the Secretary to immediately use up to $250 billion in authority under this Act. Upon a Presidential certification of need, the Secretary may access an additional $100 billion. The final $350 billion may be accessed if the President transmits a written report to Congress requesting such authority. The Secretary may use this additional authority unless within 15 days Congress passes a joint resolution of disapproval which may be considered on an expedited basis.
Section 116. Oversight and Audits.
Requires the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct ongoing oversight of the activities and performance of TARP, and to report every 60 days to Congress. The Comptroller General is required to conduct an annual audit of TARP. In addition, TARP is required to establish and maintain an effective system of internal controls.
Section 117. Study and Report on Margin Authority.
Directs the Comptroller General to conduct a study and report back to Congress on the role in which leverage and sudden deleveraging of financial institutions was a factor behind the current financial crisis.
Section 118. Funding.
Provides for the authorization and appropriation of funds consistent with Section 115.
Section 119. Judicial Review and Related Matters.
Provides standards for judicial review, including injunctive and other relief, to ensure that the actions of the Secretary are not arbitrary, capricious, or not in accordance with law.
Section 120. Termination of Authority.
Provides that the authorities to purchase and guarantee assets terminate on December 31, 2009. The Secretary may extend the authority for an additional year upon certification of need to Congress.
Section 121. Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
Establishes the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program to conduct, supervise, and coordinate audits and investigations of the actions undertaken by the Secretary under this Act. The Special Inspector General is required to submit a quarterly report to Congress summarizing its activities and the activities of the Secretary under this Act.
Section 122. Increase in the Statutory Limit on the Public Debt.
Raises the debt ceiling from $10 trillion to $11.3 trillion.
Section 123. Credit Reform.
Details the manner in which the legislation will be treated for budgetary purposes under the Federal Credit Reform Act.
Section 124. Hope for Homeowners Amendments.
Strengthens the Hope for Homeowners program to increase eligibility and improve the tools available to prevent foreclosures.
Section 125. Congressional Oversight Panel.
Establishes a Congressional Oversight Panel to review the state of the financial markets, the regulatory system, and the use of authority under TARP. The panel is required to report to Congress every 30 days and to submit a special report on regulatory reform prior to January 20, 2009. The panel will consist of 5 outside experts appointed by the House and Senate Minority and Majority leadership.
Section 126. FDIC Enforcement Enhancement.
Prohibits the misuse of the FDIC logo and name to falsely represent that deposits are insured. Strengthens enforcement by appropriate federal banking agencies, and allows the FDIC to take enforcement action against any person or institution where the banking agency has not acted.
Section 127. Cooperation With the FBI.
Requires any federal financial regulatory agency to cooperate with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies investigating fraud, misrepresentation, and malfeasance with respect to development, advertising, and sale of financial products.
Section 128. Acceleration of Effective Date.
Provides the Federal Reserve with the ability to pay interest on reserves.
Section 129. Disclosures on Exercise of Loan Authority.
Requires the Federal Reserve to provide a detailed report to Congress, in an expedited manner, upon the use of its emergency lending authority under Section 13(3) of the Federal Reserve Act.
Section 130. Technical Corrections.
Makes technical corrections to the Truth in Lending Act.
Section 131. Exchange Stabilization Fund Reimbursement.
Protects the Exchange Stabilization Fund from incurring any losses due to the temporary money market mutual fund guarantee by requiring the program created in this Act to reimburse the Fund. Prohibits any future use of the Fund for any guarantee program for the money market mutual fund industry.
Section 132. Authority to Suspend Mark-to-Market Accounting.
Restates the Securities and Exchange Commission’s authority to suspend the application of Statement Number 157 of the Financial Accounting Standards Board if the SEC determines that it is in the public interest and protects investors.
Section 133. Study on Mark-to-Market Accounting.
Requires the SEC, in consultation with the Federal Reserve and the Treasury, to conduct a study on mark-to-market accounting standards as provided in FAS 157, including its effects on balance sheets, impact on the quality of financial information, and other matters, and to report to Congress within 90 days on its findings.
Section 134. Recoupment.
Requires that in 5 years, the President submit to the Congress a proposal that recoups from the financial industry any projected losses to the taxpayer.
Section 135. Preservation of Authority.
Clarifies that nothing in this Act shall limit the authority of the Secretary or the Federal Reserve under any other provision of law.
Title II–Budget-Related Provisions
Section 201. Information for Congressional Support Agencies.
Requires that information used by the Treasury Secretary in connection with activities under this Act be made available to CBO and JCT.
Section 202. Reports by the Office of Management and Budget and the Congressional Budget Office.
Requires CBO and OMB to report cost estimates and related information to Congress and the President regarding the authorities that the Secretary of the Treasury has exercised under the Act.
Section 203. Analysis in President’s Budget.
Requires that the President include in his annual budget submission to the Congress certain analyses and estimates relating to costs incurred as a result of the Act; and
Section 204. Emergency Treatment.
Specifies scoring of the Act for purposes of budget enforcement.
Title III–Tax Provisions
Section 301. Gain or Loss From Sale or Exchange of Certain Preferred Stock.
Details certain changes in the tax treatment of losses on the preferred stock of certain GSEs for financial institutions.
Section 302. Special Rules for Tax Treatment of Executive Compensation of Employers Participating in the Troubled Assets Relief Program.
Applies limits on executive compensation and golden parachutes for certain executives of employers who participate in the auction program.
Section 303. Extension of Exclusion of Income From Discharge of Qualified Principal Residence Indebtedness.
Extends current law tax forgiveness on the cancellation of mortgage debt.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — When you head to the polls to vote, you better check your wardrobe and choose wisely. Wearing the wrong clothes could cost you your vote. Suprised? Listen up! The law restricts one right to allow you the privilege of another.
You can’t wear a shirt, hat or button supporting a candidate, issue or even an idea when you go to vote. It’s called electioneering and it’s the equivalent of carrying a yard sign into the poll.
“Poll workers are trained to ask them to cover or remove the object. If they don’t have anything to cover up with, then they will be asked to leave and go change,” said Karen Cole, Cabell County Clerk.
It’s the subject of an email circulating the internet, blowing up email boxes across the country. The e-mail warns Obama supporters not to wear shirts, pins or hats, informing them it’s against the law and you can be turned away. The law isn’t new, but it’s not well known either. And given the highly charged political season, parties on both sides are reminding their voters to dot their i’s and cross their t’s.
David Tyson is a local Republican party official. He’s also an attorney who strongly disagrees with the law.
“I think it’s wrong. If I wear my small button to the poll and even if I don’t say anything, I could be in trouble and I think it’s wrong and it discourages voters,” said Tyson.
And he’s not the only one it doesn’t sit well with.
“It doesn’t seem fair, although, that you can’t wear what you want to wear,” said Maureen Gagnon, a voter.
“I don’t think it’s right at all,” said Joshua Jannoto, a voter.
The laws vary from state to state. Kentucky’s Secretary of State says he would advise people not to wear campaign paraphenalia to avoid violating the laws against campaigning at the polls.

I will check Snopes, but I do know the passive electioneering laws are true in some states. Texas is one of them. During the primary and caucus I don’t believe all polling places enforced it, but I know in past general and local elections they will send you home for wearing anything for the candidate. You also have to stay so far back from the entry of the polling place with any signs supporting or protesting a candidate.

I received the infamous ‘Obsession’ dvd in my mailbox, trying to influence my vote, apparently because I live in a swing state. It was sent by the Clarion Fund, which is a Christian Zionist non-profit. I am not opening it. Its existence offends me.
I also received a mailer on the same day with a photo of a large eyed, blue eyed white baby boy on the front with the caption “This little guy wants you to help elect John McCain and Sarah Palin and a Pro-Life Congress!” and misrepresentations of Obama’s position on abortion on the back, while praising John McCain for opposing ‘abortion on demand’.
I am Pro-Life, and believe abortion is murder….. but I’ll be damned if I take that decision away from someone else. I want alternatives to abortion.
A party which is beholden to evangelicals is not offering those alternatives or supporting those alternatives. I remember when they misrepresented Obama’s stance on sex education for children, and I will not soon forgive them for it. Educating children about sexual predators and how to avoid them is a GOOD thing.
You know what made me angriest about that mailer, though? It was that little white boy on the cover, with ‘this little guy’…. knowing all the while that the group with the most abortions, proportionally to their population size, is African-American. Where are the ‘this little guys’ for African American children? Why was I not asked to help little black babies, since little black babies are dying at a greater proportional rate than any other ethnic group?
All that, I also understand why Palin was chosen for the ticket — and any respect I had for McCain went out the window. My disgust with the Republican party only grew.

He was extremely dissatisfied with what he saw his role reduced as under the Clinton administration; and he was not happy to be left out of ‘real’ policy making. He talked to Clinton about it. And then he died, and it no longer mattered anyway. The last two sentences are not to be taken as cause and effect.
Dr. Rice and General Powell were fighting for the wrong side, but they had a lot more power in the administration they were appointed within than the usual window dressing, and what you are giving them credit for.
Again, for all the black votes Democrats have received, doesn’t it feel odd that it took a Republican administration to place blacks in two of the most powerful positions in the world instead of…. say…… Surgeon General? Shouldn’t there be more?
And why is Obama the only current black Senator, if Democrats in general are the party of blacks? Again, it’s my opinion that blacks are great at the bottom; it’s different when it comes to the top.
Obama’s problems will not be from Republicans, it will be from Democrats.

There are folk out here waiting to vote for Barack Obama JUST because they have been there when Dr. King was shot, or they have experienced racism first hand and this is a long way from that, we as black people have come a long way. These are some of the explanations or beliefs as to why some black people equate success and beauty with being white.
My ex-girlfriend told me about a book that was written a while back. A black man wrote about his self-hatred toward black woman, and he finally realized that he hated himself. This book supposedly expounds on self-hatred in depth.

John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.
McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida for Bush.
A McCain aide confirmed the move and chalked it up to the state’s Democratic tilt and the resources Obama had put in place there.
“It was always a long shot for us to win,” said the aide.
McCain will now turn his attention to bolstering his defenses in Ohio and Florida while putting more resources into Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and the second congressional district of Maine, where there is a sole electoral vote available.

It’s a blue, collar state, and the GOP is definitely having difficulties connecting with voters there. Michigan has always been a long shot for the Republicans to win. It’s a numerous amount of people there who perform manual labor, and earn an hourly wage. The residents there just can’t connect with John McCain and his eight houses or his income. Middle class families just can’t afford eight more years of polarizing presidency.
John McCain is now focusing on victories in competitive states, and he basically has deemed his campaign a lost one as far as the Michigan polls. So that would make the maverick a quitter. How is surrendering putting country first? I wonder if McCain supporters in Michigan will still vote for him. This is huge, but only for Obama.

I find it extremely disconcerting that the so-called white men in positions of power have many of you believing that your the problem. Believing yourself to be of a separate race as if you are somehow separate from other so-called races merely by your complexion is a misconception. To put it in words that can be understood you are all spiritual entities that took on a human form to experience what it is that your soul needed to experience in order to move on to the next level of consciousness. Think to your self who was the one who told you you were Negroes to begin with. Those in power who wished to separate you from themselves in order to plant the false belief that you are somehow different. The reality is that had it been the case that this country were founded by Africans and there were no “whites” the result would have been the same only instead of skin color it would have been tribal. As is the case in many countries in Africa today. This is a part of the human condition. The ruling classes main objective is to stay in the position of power and they will do whatever is necessary to carry out that objective. One of the easiest ways to do that is to convince those they wish to rule that they are somehow different. The easiest way to do that is to point out the most fundamental differences that are visible to the naked eye. For example if you have two dark skinned people in a room and I asked you to point out the person who was the most intelligent. There would be no way possible to assess either persons intelligence merely by appearance. If I than introduced someone with a pale complexion into the room, but before doing so convinced you that pale skinned people were in fact more intelligent than darker skinned people than proceeded to repeat the question your answer on a fundamental level without having done any research at all would inevitably be the paler person. This is also a part of the human condition on a fundamental level we accept the things we see first as being true as opposed to what we hear, feel, touch or sense. Sight is the primary defense followed by hearing. I could go on and on into further detail, but I have neither the time nor the space to do so.

Since some of you want to make race an issue, I will too, but better, in my opinion.
It is going to take the African American, and in particular the African American male, to save this nation.
When you look at this nation, the invisibility of the African American man in the places that count is startling, and it is having devastating consequences.
In the culture of America, it was the African American who had to be submerged deep on account of his relationship with the European American man. He had to completely go out of himself.
This fact is at the root of books such as the “Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison and “The Outsider” by Richard Wright.
It took the European American man to bring this nation into being. He was the one out front in terms of economics and other fundamentals. Today – given the way the nation and the world has unfolded – the European American man has the least amount of leverage to take the country (and the world) forward.
Taking into account this country’s peculiar history with slavery, the African American male is the person with the most leverage for fundamental change and progress.
This line of thought brings Sen. Obama front and center. He is in position to stimulate phenomenal change, notwithstanding that he needs more information to take advantage of the opportunity.
All over the world, men are moving in or toward battle. The United States is caught up in this world wind and the nation is tilting. The African American man has got to show up eventually if the nation is to ever right itself.
The African American man is the real blood-and-guts backbone of hard work in this nation and he is in a mess and he is going to stay there until he straightens it out. His messy predicament and the essential threat to the nation are intertwined.
The threat from which the African American male must save the nation is in the fact that so many young African American boys have no where to go but into gangs. This reality is growing everyday despite minor ebbs in the reported numbers.
This problem may look small to some in the face of the unease about a recession, scary health-care costs, global terrorism, the foreclosure crisis and the war in Iraq. It is, however, not small. In fact, it is quite the contrary and the possibility of a level of domestic warfare much more pronounced than what we are experiencing now is frightfully real.
Right now, there is no force of African-American men to even be around their boys. That is the legacy that slavery left. There is no tool other than to incarcerate these boys and locking them up is not going to stop what essentially is guerilla warfare. These young boys are not scared of jail.
If these young men are not given a sound platform for being who they are essentially as humans and for mining their natural creativity, they are going to wreck the nation from within.
There is a subliminal surge that has powered Obama to the front; a subliminal recognition that the African American man needs to be at the table. We’ve never been at the table in a primary way since we have been in this country.
African American boys don’t have a precedent to teach them how to be at the table. So not only does the African American man need to rise, he needs to rise with knowledge.
African Americans who do get into office do not have the tools they need to do anything substantive about economics and business and the internal threat outlined that one would have in the White House.
And so we are faced with a choice on November 4th. We must choose a candidate best situated to maneuver within and grow outside of the status quo of slavery. Obama is him. Vote for him and demand accountability from him.
This accountability must be in the context of Ellison, Wright, W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey, Booker T. Washington and others who heretofore have not been considered in our choices.
Many who read this will no doubt argue that I am making my choice on the basis of race. Each and everyone one who take this position are wrong. It doesn’t have anything to do with race. It has everything to do with the condition of slavery.
America has nothing to empower the African-American man, so he has to empower himself. He has got to get his hands on money and political power. Most of all, he needs knowledge.
It’s not race. It is an economic and political situation.
Noted author Taylor Branch (“Pillar of Fire, etc.) makes the point that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. became the new founding father for the nation. Rosa Parks opened the door, but he had to rise up, go to the frontline and carry the load.
As a result, Sen. Obama is standing on stage. He is a product. He must know that Dr. King said the first thing we are going to have to do to get anywhere is squeeze slavery out of ourselves. He must know that Dr. King acknowledged that he had not completed that process.
And so we struggle on with a “continuing past” that has people on both sides of the so-called black-white divide wearing deeply engrained frowns every Fourth of July. African American males are frontline pushers of this mindset because they feel like they’ve never gotten justice.
The time is here to take a substantive look at the nature of America. We need to tell the truth: slavery still lives.
Solving slavery is a national need. Empowered African Americans are in a unique position to stop war all over the world because there is no basis for distrusting African Americans anywhere in the world. We’ve not been out on any colonial endeavors no matter how you slice it.
It’s time to play this card.

I’m aware of what the Boule is. And yes, Boule and Marcus Garvey don’t go in the same sentence. The Boule has done some good within black communities, but they do it in an upper class way: hold expensive fundraisers where you spend more than what you’re actually going to donate. James A. Johnson (Washington, D.C.) is a Vice Chairman of Perseus. Mr. Johnson was a Managing Director in Corporate Finance at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Johnson was Executive Assistant to Vice President Walter F. Mondale, where he advised the Vice President on domestic and foreign policy and political matters.
Mr. Johnson also serves on the Boards of Directors of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., KB Home, Target Corporation, Temple-Inland, Inc., and UnitedHealth Group. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Trilateral Commission.
And one more thing. Obama also named African-American Eric Holder to his VP search committee. You will hearing a lot about Holder because he was involved in pardoning Mark Rich and the two members of the Weather Underground when Clinton left office.
Why did Obama pick Holder?
So the media can focus on Holder’s dubious past, and that fact that he’s a black man, while failing to mention anything about James Johnson and Frank Pearl.
I will promise you you’re not going to hear one mention about Johnson being the Vice-Chairman of Perseus, but you’ll hear about Holder and the Weather Underground for weeks. It’s part of the plan.

Regarding these comments about his ethnicity. He is black according to the law WHITE MAN set forth. They said that you are black if you have any drop of black in you for decades. My mother looks no different from Obama. I mean none. Same complexion and features and she came from to “black” folks. We all know exactly how black Americans became to be so light..it is exactly how Obama came to be. Many times it was involuntarily. It was the white mans law that said that if you a have a drop of black blood you are black. Now all of a sudden that is no longer the case. If that is no longer the case, you will need to go back and re identify millions of black folks if it matters.
