One Time Offs Himself

Posted By Bossip Staff

Lt. Michael Pigott (pictured below) of the New York Police Department was found dead yesterday, exactly one week after ordering the fatal tasering of an erratic, naked man on a Brooklyn building. While our condolences go out to the Pigott family and friends, NY cops and cops in general tend to be d*ckish getting drunk off power and make poor decisions. It’s pretty f*cking obvious that tasing the man would make him fall to his death, however, the job is very stressful and calls for quick decision making.

This is a tough one for us to call, so a penny for your thoughts. What do you think?

GOOD. I feel no sympathy whatsoever for pigs, especially the NYPD.

    F**K THE POLICE.

  5. Aunt Viv

This was a big story here in NY this past week. Trigger/Taser-happy cops, innocent victims. It’s just a sad story all around.

  6. Cash

I dont know all the details regarding this case so i’m not going to rush to judgment here. My condolences go out to both families who have lost loved ones in this situation.

  7. anonymous

I think that being a naked man on a building, he posed no threat and certainly didn’t have a weapon, out in the open or concealed, so tasering the man was WAY over the top. I thought that police officers were supposed to try to diffuse a situation at the lowest level FIRST????….

  8. tbear

That’s sad, but people should understand that when you kill someone you have to live with that and it’s not easy to do. I hope other police take heed to this…

  9. ajus

Not a good idea, the cops should have seen that coming, condolences to both fams.

  10. anony_mouse

At least he had the decency to feel bad for what he did. Condolences to both families.

  11. What a crazy story. He obviously had some problems. Cops shouldn’t be that traumatized by witnessing death even if they caused it. R.I.P. to both men.

Watch the season premiere of The Game tonight at 8:30 EST on The CW. Let’s support the best black sitcom on TV. The network is trying to kill it by not advertising the show.

  14. Z

    I’M BACK!!

  15. m

from the news story i read, the police had called for an inflatable cushion, and thought it was on the ground when he ordered the taser.

  16. Z

why was he tasered in the first place?!?!

  17. Esq

I think it was a punk move for him to commit suicide…cops want everyone else to take responsibility for their actions-mistakes and all, but too often when they make their own mistakes (or commit intentional bad acts) they do the most drastic ***** so they don’t have to man up and take responsibility for what they’ve done. Killing yourself to me, is taking the easy way out-so you don’t have to live with the consequences of your actions. Not only that, but if my memory serves me correctly, he killed himself the same day as the funeral services or some memorial services that were being held for the victim-by doing that all he did was take attention away from the victim which I think was also a selfish move. I know being a cop is a high pressure job, but like any other profession-if you can’t deal with the pressure you need to be adult enough to remove yourself from the position, especially when you have other peoples’ lives in your hands.

  18. Z

bc he was standing on a building?? I don’t get it.

  19. Esq

oooh thanks Bird! I love The Game! I woulda missed the premiere if it weren’t for you!

  20. Al-Anon

He probably committed suicide so that his family could collect his insurance and pension money. If he had gotten fired, he may have lost that.

    A tragic story all around.

  21. Tracey

why are their tasar guns, it is proven to be lethal it is lethal…why don’t they simply have guns that shoot out a sleeping drug, one it, BOOM you are sleeping, wake up in a police cell, caught and tamed?

If scary naked man was hit with a sleeping gun, he would have been alive today, clothed and kept from the public for his own good…this police guy would be alive too…….and would have limited any legal or liable cases for the police.

Saying that however, so criminals need to be shot dead on the spot, just for the greater good of society.

  22. Al-Anon

I’ve known about 6 people in my life that have committed suicide and it’s something that you never forget. People die every day but when someone takes their own life, it’s traumatizes everyone; family, friends co-workers and community. I don’t think that anyone ever really gets over it.

Suicide can be viewed as being very selfish and very angry. When my best friend’s teenage brother hung himself, he hung himself near the living room door so that his parents would see him when they first walked in the house. That was horrible.

  23. LYK_CAN_D

They tasered my man in the ***** and punched me in the mouth … so FnCK THE POLICE!!!!

They could’ve waited for the tube to arrive to catch him when he fell.

  24. Ms. Toson

It is only natural for some policeman to feel remorse for some of their actions upon being a tad overzealous with their line of work;however, with the fact that policemen are given immunities to hide behind that which makes it difficult to apply to all (which may include him because sometimes, people do apply faux feelings to hide their real intentions;theatrics if you will. And lets face it, some policemen especially in New York, should be on Broadway) and with that being said, I agree with the above mention of Karma can be a real *****.

  25. Cage

Triflin…. On both ends…. I still don’t like police though but that’s just my personal preference….

  26. IM ALWAYS RIGHT…. THATS IT. CHECK IT WHY IS IT WHEN A COWARD ***** WHITE MAN DOES SOMETHING SNEAKY AND DUMB HE TRIES TO COVER IT UP SO HE IS EXCUSED FROM BLAME…. HE WAS TO COWARD TO STAND UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS MISTAKE SO HE TOOK THE COWARDLY AND GOD UN-FORGIVEN WAY OUT… HE SHOULD BURN IN HELL. SECONDLY THEY ALWAYS TALK ABOUT OUR BLACK MALES, HELL EVEN IF THEY ARE GUILTY OF A CRIME 9 TIMES OUT OF TEN HE WAS FOUND IN THE HOOD OR AT HIS GIRL HOUSE OR IN HIS GRANNY BASEMENT. THATS ONE THING ABOUT US, BECAUSE THE WAY HISTORY HAS TREATED US AND OUR ANCESTORS, AS BLACKS WE DO KNOW HOW TO TAKE PUNISHMENT, ITS A SAD ANTECDOTE, BUT ITS TRUE!!!!

  27. Chanel Shades

They do not have any sympothy for mentally ill people. The NYPD is responsible not just one officer who ordered the tazing! I feel sorry for the tazed man and this officer. Gutter politics.

  28. Wink

***** THE POLICE!!! LET’EM ALL DIE!

  29. Encyclopedia Brown

  30. copelli21

This is a tragedy all around. I think this officer made a bad decision which had tragic results he could not live with ….which led to him taking his life.

The police aren’t perfect, but they are human and clearly the guilt of taking an innocent life was too much.

    Pure tragedy.

    THIS IS SO SAD!!!

WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO???

MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILIES.

  51. AR1

I hope this makes them look at the abuse of power that the cops use and also how quick they are to taser someone. He knew he was wrong that’s why he took the quick way out. I’m sorry for both families though.

I think they were both mentally ill. May they rest in peace.

  55. serene

I wonder how many people on here besides the one person i read, know someone or was CLOSE to someone who committed succide. I doubt many cuz some folks wouldn’t post some of the stuff they did. I don’t luv cops either, but its a messed up situation all around.

  56. intenzemocha

It’s a very tragic situation it’s obvious that the officer felt remorse for his actions and under the cir*****stances made a hasty decisions that resulted in someone’s death-

It’s sad and unfortunate, I think people sometimes forget that cops are people too..and are capable of making mistakes

I also feel for the victims family who had to witness the entire incident-both families are suffering in this event and in hindsight I don’t really see how things could have turned out differently if the man was behaving erraticly and waving the bulb as a weapon-I’m surprised they didn’t shoot him.

Errors were made and someone lost their life-*****ody’s perfect and it doesn’t seem like it was intentional or malicious just bad judement.

  57. intenzemocha

LORD KNOWS THERE ARE SOME BAD COPS OUT THERE BUT NOT ALL OF THEM…..

AND IF THEY ARE SO DAMN BAD THEN WHY DO YALL CALL ON EM WHEN YOUR AZZEZ NEED HELP? WE NEED THEM AS MUCH AS SOME OF YOU DON’T WANT TO ADMIT IT AND THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THERE ARE CRIMINIALS OUT HERE WHO WOULD KILL YOU AND I AND A COP IN A HEART BEAT

THE COPS PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR US AND WE SHOULD SHOW SOME RESPECT & APPRECIATION FOR WHAT THEY DO-BECAUSE I DAMN SURE WOULDN’T WANT THEIR JOB AND I’M GRATEFUL THAT THEY DO THE JOBS THEY DO

I THINK THAT WE SHOULD HOLD COPS ACCOUNTABLE FOR WRONG DOINGS AND MISCONDUCT BUT AT THE SAME TIME-DONT’ JUDGE ALL OF THEM COLLECTIVELY FOR WHAT A FEW OR SOME OF THEM MAY DO

WHY???????BECAUSE IT WOULD BE THE SAME AS WHAT WE ACCUSE THEM OF DOING-JUDGING ALL BLACK AS CRIMINALS JUST AS WE KNOW THAT’S NOT TRUE-THEN ALL COPS AREN’T BAD EITHER…….

  58. Book Worm

I personally NEVER forget that cops are people too. I just served on jury duty and can now see why there are many people in jail for crimes they didn’t commit. People are *****holes and given the power will do some reckless *****.

  59. chrissy

Clearly he knew he did wrong. I’m sure this wasn’t the first time he did something shady like that and/or killed or got someone killed. He was probably going to face some serious heat for it, so like all punk ***** suckas who never want to face the music, he took the easy way out. Good for him, let him rot in hell! And oh well to the family, I hope he didn’t raise another *****!

  60. bossip is corny

if u cant handle the job then dont do it. he was weak like most people that hide behind the strength of a gang. he thought he was that *****, until reality set in and he realized that badge cant protect him now. then he showed his *****nissity.

they are here to protect and serve yet the only time i see them do actual die hard police work is when an officer gets shot. (i live in philly i saw a lot of that this year) just like a gang u look out for your own. the child that gets hit by a stray bullet is a casuality of war but an officer gettin shot gets a parade. eat a f#@kin d!ck

  61. chrissy

And true there are some good cops. There are bad ones too, and when they are bad, that some serious mess, because they are suppose to serve and protect. But when they take their own life, you know they are the ones in the wrong, why else would he kill himself.

  62. Oshie (I like em brown, yellow, Puero Rican or Hatian, my name is Osh Kosh from the Zulu Nation)

Sorry, my thoughts are $.50 a piece.

  63. No Name Needed

What civilians need to realize is that cops and anyone in authority are human just like us. True, they are trained to do there jobs to the best of there ability within the guidelines of of the, but every situation is different and no amount of training can prepare them for some real life events.

This brings to mind the scene in “Set it Off” when the cops accuse Vivica Fox’s character of being in on the bank robbery while she was working due to the fact that she didnt follow the “procedure”. Towards the end of the movie while holding a gun to the same officers face she asks” What is the procedure when you have a gun to your face?” At that moment in time that cop is just an ordinary human faced with a life threatening situation. Its not a mock drill. Its not a instructional video or a video game. Its real life. At this point in time he’s no longer a cop. He’s a husband, a father, a brother a son a friend. You can either act or react. No one knows which one they will choose until they are face with that very obsticle.

Good or bad, Cops are human and are subject to make mistakes. Some of which may prove to be deadly.

  64. I can’t really feel sorry for a cop. His family maybe, but a cop? I dunno.

  65. DA TRUFF --- DA HOE TRUFF & NUTTIN' BUTT DA TRUFF

I THINK YOUR LITTLE VIDEO BOX DOES NOT WORK………. THAT’S WHAT I THINK….

THE MAN SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TASERED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

DUDE MUST OF HAD OTHER ISSUES GOING ON BESIDES THIS TO KILL HIMSELF

  66. Babegyrl

Regardless of how you feel about a person’s job, they are still human beings and no one DESERVES to die….. death is soooooooooo final it aint even funny.

My prayers go out to the family of both men, because they are the ones left with unanswered questions…..

On a different note, police are taught to defuse a situation, I’m not saying I agree with the use of a taser, but I think I would rather them tase me than shoot me…………….. I’m just saying….

  67. always knew

Police are supposed to protect and serve. Often times they don’t, they make siuations work, because the majority of law enforcement, is gun happy and power hungry. No police officer is above the law…They are hired for and by the people…

  68. Earl

I say thanks about time the police finaly didnt the right thing. Its just sad that it took him taking anohter life b 4 he took his own. I say wire all of them together and flip the switch. So I say thanks we dont have to waist more of out money the lock his a$$ up.

  69. Creole Baby Says Y'all Haters Betta Get On Job Bebe

  70. OK

Two dead, for what? 2 Wrongs don’t make a right and the families must be suffering.

  71. The police are nothing but a bunch of criminals. They har***** and disrespect black people every second of the day. I dont feel sorry for his *****. I think the rest of the *****ed up NYPD should follow his lead and eat their guns.

    I hate the police !!!

  72. erika

some of the things I read here disgust me… So alot of you say “karma”… well does tat mean it was “karma” for the one that got tased? I don’t hate on the police because I know there are alot of good and alot of bad ones. That is *****ing life! There are good teachers and there are bad ones. My brothers had been harr*****ed before, but one dealt drugs and was in a gang. The other went to NYU, but thought that there should be no reason the cops should even speak to him. Sometimes it’s nothing and other times it’s attitude. I have had my run in with the police, but i am happy they were their to stop the person that raped me and had raped 2 others. Their was no reason for him to be there, but just to make sure nothing was going down. I am not saying all cops are good, but jus realize how you act towards the police and why they are talking to you in the first place. every human has flaws…

  73. always knew

I feel bad that they both lost their lives. If he was crooked and killed that man on purpose, then he probably felt guilty..I mean why would you tase someone , up in the air? (You don’t have the forethought, to know that he will fall?) He could have done a number of things…They shouldn’t just be allowed to kill at will, then that leads to Sean Bell situations…I am not a police officer, so I don;t know what the correct policy and procedure, is in a situation like that, but there should’ve been a better way to tak hold of the man, on the ledge…With all that said, I respect and appreciate all the situations, police deal with…But a man getting ready to commit suicide on a ledge, is most likely not a danger to anyone but himself…I also think the Fire Department should’ve be the one to handle this, maybe it wouldn’t have escalated…I wish both families peace and offer my condolences…

  74. Shantel

He knew he made a mistake that he had to eventually pay for. I guess he couldn’t handle it. It was a foolish error in judgement to taser a naked man on a roof who was no threat to anyone.

  77. she is dirty. I saw her photo on a dating site —cougarkiss–co m, where the rich women seeking love with young handsome guy! And her profile says that she is looking for a sugarbaby, “A handsome collage guy would be the best”

  78. brightseat_bully

is a “collage guy” a dude made up of a lot of cut out pictures from Ebony?

i feel sorry for the kids but… for the tenth time… f*ck the police (comin straight from the underground).

  79. This Is Sad

I know that was hard for the officer to take the idea of him actually causing a death in error. He didn’t have to kill himself because he would have been excused by the police department because that was in his line of duty. Although he would have had to seek help for his mental distress. This guy, I would have believed he didn’t mean it. But there are a lot of dirty cops who would have done it on purpose just for it to happen and because they could get away with it. There are some dirty cops who taser elderly people and children because they are simply evil. May God rest that officer’s soul. I don’t know what was up with the naked erratic man, but he could have had dementia. If I came in contact with a naked erratic man, I would have stunned his butt too, but not trying to kill him or trying to cause his death. I just hope God sorts all of this out for both souls.

  80. We "Blacks" Are The Real Hebrew Israelites

Don’t take the wuss way out. Face the music like a *****ing man. :( Your family might have had to deal with you away for a couple of months at the most…but now they don’t have you for the rest of their lives. You’re selfish, homie. I feel bad that you needed to resort to such drastic measures…but seriously…that’s SO *****ing selfish.

    Suicide = Selfishness

(This does NOT go for people with a history of mental illness…that’s a whole different story. This just goes for selfish *****s who don’t wanna face the music)

  81. Jus Sayin'

First off, what type of threat does a naked man pose? I suppose the officers were afraid he would take a ***** on them. Don’t hey have people trained to talk people off of buildings and such. I don’t feel sorry for the police officer. He should have thought about his actions, before using a taser on an unarmed, naked (apparently disoriented person)!

  82. ***** DA POLICE.
