I haven’t been able to get into “House of Payne”

If they were the ones writing the jokes, they need to be fired.

Dang, new writers! now I have to give House of Payne ANOTHA chance. But really, I do hope it does better SOON!!!!

Tyler Perry is a wonderful producer, can we have more info. on the problem?

Even though he makes terrible TV and movies, I can respect him firing them. The unions are completely over run by tyrants and it’s good to stay indie.

WGA strike is the reason why we see so much reality TV. Producers can still make a profit because they don’t need a script.

I like “House of Pain” in a good show and much funnier then some of the shows on network tv… and the ONLY black show that’s not a reality show or on EBT that is on tv. And I worked at the guild and it’s filled with Jews that don’t care a thang for anything ‘black!!! And some of yall need to quit jumping on their bandwagon…. and just kick back— for the good of your fellow man… and woman… and black writer.

Seeing that pic of TP as Madea just reminds me why I can’t stand his a$$. A couple of years back he was at the Image Awards preaching to black people about being mindful of their image because “..white people see us as nothing more than thugs…” Somebody please tell me what the hell Madea is if not a thug? Always popping off rounds and sh*t…. TP is a hypocrite and not a very talented one at that.

Tyler Perry is trying to be the Walmart of TV, huh. Writers unionizing means that they’d be garunteed certain things. Among them would be a set number of working days, and I know Mr. Perry doesn’t adhere to the normal production schedule of 22 episodes per year (he was making at least 3x more episodes) so that immediately would pose a problem.

that’s not a ‘when the checks stop coming in’. that’s a union dispute.

They need to fire the casting director. I thought we had gotten away from the big obese mama sterotypes. Now that we are in charge of our own casting, we have returned to the orginial sterotypes that we blamed on white Hollywood.

I went to one of the 1st taping in Atl when CJ was suppose to be the light skin, well built, curly hair son of 2 dark fatties. The mother could barely walk from room to room on the set without all that heavy breathing. After the show finally premired, the writers changed CJ from son to nephew.

Tyler Perry is facing the beginning of the end. He produces minstrel show images but I think people are waking up to him now…his new film isn’t doing well at all.

There are 100 episodes??????????? GTFOH??? That show is subpar at best. I guess he tries out his worst scripts on that show to see if they work.

I’ve been told House of Payne is horrible because the writers are handcuffed and basically told what to write by Tyler Perry. As far as not paying the writers, he is WRONG for paying union rates to the actors, crew people and NOT paying union rates to writers. Matter of fact the show is under union contract for directors and Tyler directs ALL the episodes, so guess who gets pension, heath benefits and minimum director’s rate PLUS the millions he has made on the TBS deal. You can’t go talking about being Jesus like and a Christian and cheating people. It’s not right, but black people won’t call him out… if that was Jerry Seinfeld not paying a mofo, ni99as, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be looking for a bank of microphones to have a press conference. Pride cometh before the fall.

They should have been fired because the show sucked. I am happy to see unemployed actors get work like Kesha Knight Pulliam and the tasty treat Allen Payne but the show sucks ass. Everybody needs to be fired, Hell, put Martin back on. There situation resolved. Now everyone is Happy.

OKAY! I thought I was one of the only people that noticed that. Tyler Perry did a test run of the show on one of the non major networks (it was UPN or the CW I think) about two, three years ago. They were going to see the response from different markets then shop the show to different networks.

CJ was their son, I didn’t understand why they changed it and thought no one would notice!

I dont understand the portrayals of black people, especially black women, in Tyler Perry movies. They represent everything you dislike about Black females. I just saw “The Family That Preys” the other day and I cant remember how many times I heard a black woman justify her nasty attitude with how many degrees she had or how much money she made.

I got love for Tyler, he’s a brother. However, the lack of quality in his programming and content of the show, to me is in very poor taste. When Tyler first, came out, I went to all his shows, bought all his DVD’s in an effort to support, a new up and coming artist, trying to make his way. Since he has gotten his contracts with the big companies, it seems as though he has lost his bargaining/ negotiation power. I wish we could see more roles that are of better quality and content, it does help with people’s perception of our race. And the fact that we aren’t monolithic, either…I mean I got love for Big Mommas’, but this is more like an updated minstrel show…..Sorry, Tyler, you should get with Spike,Singleton,Hill Harper, ANYBODY!! To help you with the writing and production….Good luck with that and I hope that we see a change soon!….

The WGA has filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the four were fired unjustly and that Payne’s company bargained in bad faith.

I thought this was 100% Tyler Perry? Was this Allen Payne’s Company? what is the real deal. Please tell me this is a typo? If not Allen is more than a little Bendover Gem! That’s if He has his own production company also? That would then explain the connection between Tyler and him!!!!

Those 10 episodes were used to sell the series. Think of them as the entire series in a nutshell. The episodes we are seeing now are the events that happened between episodes 1-10. Much like Fame-the movie took place over 4 years and the tv series covered years 2-4.

CJ might still be the son. You know the plot I think you’re my uncle, but I find out you are my Dad storyline (thank you Moesha).

Tyler did not go hollywood. The writing was HORRIBLE. They needed to be fired. You can’t keep people on just because you’re black. I’m sure he’s fired people before, but we hear about it now because of his popularity.
