Say It Ain’t So! Studies Show A Connection Between Oral Sex And Cancer!

Way to pee in our Cheerios science…

There’s a worrisome uptick in the incidence of certain head and neck cancers among middle-aged and even younger Americans, and some experts link the trend to a rise in the popularity of oral sex over the past few decades.

That’s because the human papillomavirus (HPV) is a major trigger for these cancers, and HPV can be transmitted through this type of sexual activity.

“It seems like a pretty good link that more sexual activity, particularly oral sex, is associated with increased HPV infection,” said Dr. Greg Hartig, professor of otolaryngology head and neck surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.

Maybe some of ya’ll need Surgeon General’s warning tattoos next to your junk.

  • Yep..Possibly

I would not be surprised at all..I think the same might go for the vag*na too..Not all men wash/shower as often as they are supposed to. We already know some women get recurring yeast infection from their guys this way. The foreskin of the p*nis is a breading ground for bacteria, the temperature, the atmosphere and all. Just my opinion.

    Gargle with Listerine then.

@ Mz. Elite maybe you should go back to Health Ed. because condoms won’t protect you from HPV since its contracted from skin-to-skin contact… Truth is, if you are sexually active and have had multiple partners you have some strand of HPV.. just maybe not one that’s detrimental to your health. Everyone will end up with it in the next 20 years, so go get vaccinated please and thank you

  • Yeti

There’s a vaccine for HPV so ladies there’s no escaping your duties. Get the jab and get back down there.

  • mr.make.ya.feelgood

yea, but wasn’t it killing girls in texas? i know it did have some major side effects.

  • innovatoor09

There is no cure for HPV, but sometimes it goes away on its own. There is a vaccine for women 26 and under. The virus is a skin-to skin contact, most men carry the virus and do not even know they have it. Always practice safe sex, get tested every year. This virus is very dangerous for women, and can cause cervical cancer as well.

  • BILLIONS

while talking on a cell phone next door to the tobacco shop..lol

Only degenerate human beings would use their mouths and anuses to have sex. The mouth is one of the nastiest places on the body. And some people have cavities, and gum disease…ugh! Just have sex. God made the mouth and anus for other purposes.

  • uhohitslelani

    Condoms don’t prevent HPV either.

  • yolanda

I believe Micheal Douglas just had throat cancer caused from HPV….so did Catherine Zeta give it to him.

  • clinique

THIS WOULDN’T BE AN ISSUE IF PPL WOULD GET TESTED AND VISIT THIER DOCTORS REGULARLY.

  • say it ain’t so these nutz

I didn’t discourage the use of condoms, nor did I call anyone out.. I was simply putting it out there that HPV cannot be prevented entirely by the use of condoms considering it lives on the skin… so calm urself sweetie

  • say it ain’t so these nutz

And BTW.. stains of HPV are also linked to genital warts (outside)

  • ManchesterUKer

I don’t care I got vaccinated against HPV at school when I was like 15

  • ManchesterUKer

For the idiots: the majority of men carry HPV and don’t know about it as it doesn’t affect them at all however in women it can cause cervical cancer. Condoms prevent them giving it to you but you have to have the 3-part vaccine before using non-barrier methods of contraception.

  • Sarah

For all the people talking about “GET TESTED”, you cannot get tested for HPV. A medical professional can only diagnose you with HPV by visually seeing warts, which coincidentally are caused by entirely different strains of HPV (there are approx. 20 strains) than those which cause cancers. The good news is, there are currently 2 different vaccines available for young people ages 12-26 to prevent many of the cancer causing strains of HPV, the most effective of the two being Gardasil, a 3 injection vaccine available at any doctor’s office or Planned Parenthood.
