I know Aunt Viv, it just breaks my heart when my husband starts on him.
Man, my husband grew up with a mother and father that fought, his father didn’t respect him either and his mother hated him.
So here I am the mom that loves her kids and spoils my husband and my children…now it’s ok to spoil my husband but when it comes to my son it like…’he needs to go out and get a job…’ that bugs the hell outta me…I want my son to go to school and get his education…he doesn’t need to work…that’s what we as parents are there for (at least in my mind).
My son told him he hated him and wish he would leave…in which my husband ALWAYS says he won’t do *sigh*
Recently my husband was drinking and punched my son in his chest…I warned my husband that if he hit my son one more time I was calling the po-po…he did and I called…something I NEVER DID…but I had enough…he felt bad later…but now my son refuses to speak to him…it’s like walking on eggshell around my house at times.

I think a lot of the problem you are having is lack of communication between you and your husband in regards to your son. I know you feel “put in the middle” on this.
But, by you “siding” with your son it only creates resentment from your husband towards your son. You are adding fuel to the fire even though it is inadvertent. Ask your husband to state SPECIFICALLY what he expects from your son. Maybe limit it to two or three things and stick by your husband and FORCE your son to do these things.
Your son is 16 and he will be ok if he has to get a job or is less “spoiled” by you. I promise. You sound like my mom. I could go to her house right now and move in and she wouldn’t say anything.

Afiya: Here is what you do. Plan ahead and tell some family or relatives what you are doing. Next time he comes home drunk ask him to leave and come back when he is sober. If he refuses, make your phone call. The friends and family show up and take him somewhere. While he is gone you pack him a nice bag and tell him he can come back when he is no longer an abusive alcoholic.
Only do this if he is in fact an abusive alcoholic. You’ll know whether that is the case or not. If you feel afraid to come home that’s a bad sign.

I know my opinion does not mean much but as a young adult (23) who grew up with a physically abusive parent and had to deal with alot of shyt as an adolescent….the shyt is no joke. I know I have many years of therapy ahead and alot of healing to do. Its not the physical aspect that remains but mental damage from it that will last for many years. I know everyone is different, but the crazy part is the shyt is just catching up to me. I would not wish it upon anyone and I am warning you. Do what you have to do, to save him.

You know, that has to be the worst feeling for a father. Out of the 4 of my sons I only have issues with 1 of them, my 13 teen year old. I try everything under the sun to get him right but he just seems to just do what ever he wants, so now what I’ve done is let him suffer the consequences to his actions. I told him what you do negativly has nothing to do with me, its YOU!! whao has to deal with the aftermath. I punish him, but I tell him I didnt punish you, you punished yourself. My hair is long, and I relaxed it when I got married, because it was so damn poofy! I still get it flat ironed even though its relaxed. My hair has been chemically treated but its very long and healthy, so maybe I’ll just keep it the way it is. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it right??? I’m natural. I usually wear it curly like in my previous gravie, sometimes I go to the Dominicans to get it blown out. If you’re concerned about that transitioning phase, perhaps you can try that. Get it blown out, but realize that with a natural it will only last a few days, week tops.

If you are not a natural blonde I would not suggest it, because it will dry your hair out. A virgin relaxer costs about $50 -$75 depending where you go. First off girl..I said the same thing when I went natural. I was tired of getting my hair done every week and more tired of forking over the money. What no one told me was going natural COST MORE MONEY! The amount of money I spend on hair products is ridiculous. I am mixed as well and have curly hair….but my hair is oily. So when I first cut it, I had to wash my hair every day to wash the oil out and to reset the curls. Now that its longer, I can go every other day or even 3 days at a time btw washes. But the shyt gets expensive and its time consuming. I have my own process and products I use, but I don’t know your hair type. HEll you won’t know until you go natural…to even pick the products. But for general…right now I use Nexxus Humectress for moisturizing. You could start there and then see what would work the best.

There are really no products to prevent your hair from reverting back to frizzy after pressing it if it is natural. When it rains, humidity, or you perspire it will go back natural regardless of whatever product you put in it.

Yeah black and white people use nexxus products. Pink oil tends to dry your hair out. I stay away from that product. Try Keraphix, theratin extreme moisture shampoo, or the Humectin extreme moisture conditioner. It is made by nexxus phyto organics with natural oils.
I flat iron my hair almost everday and it works well for me and other clients. Don’t use the emergencee unless you have extreme breakage.

That brillo pad nappy hair is really not popular. I have done alot of hair in my career and that is not the normal texture for black women. Someone who is kind, caring, giving and loving. I have encountered my share.(Hell, me too!) I am at the point in my life where I have enudured so much emotional abuse from the opposite sex that I don’t want to even hear about Love.(Not necessarily that, but you do have to be selective) It appears that if you have the ability to truly love someone then your feelings get crushed. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. has left his “spiritual adviser” role in the Obama campaign after people dug up some videotapes showing the angry minister being angry about black people being called what white people can only type as the “N word.”
This same revered is also apparently angry about how white people kept black people as slaves for the first hundred years of this country’s existence, and how black people are still disproportionately poor and disproportionately in prison.
It is obviously racist for black people to complain about things like slavery and racism, and it is extra racist of Barack Obama to know a black person who would have the nerve to complain about slavery and racism. This is why white conservatives demanded that Obama apologize and also renounce this minister — and it’s a good thing he distanced himself from Rev. Wright, otherwise a lot of white conservatives would think twice about voting for Barack!

Hell, I don’t see why…. I am from San Diego, CA. I currently live in Louisiana. Do you for one second think that I don’t deal with racist people down here? Let me answer for you, On a daily basis. I think we all get used sometime in your life. It is how you learn from your experiences.
Some people males and females need to realize when they use people it will come back to haunt them. Their are givers and takers in this world.
Some people’s main focus in life is themselves. They use people to achieve social status, financial means, or whatever suits their prupose.
Some others main focus is to be loved. They want to be cared for, nurtured, and have a mate who is attentive to their needs.
Some people will stay in abusive relationships and tolerate abuse just searching for these qualities.
Alot of people feign these emotions in order to get what they want. It is not genuine. From my experiences I have learned who these people are and I have no time for their antics.
