A Keys Leads AMA Nominations

Alicia Keys has a reason to let loose a little bit:
R&B singer Alicia Keys picked up five nominations for the American Music Awards, while rock bands Coldplay and the Eagles scored four each, organizers said on Tuesday. All three will compete for artist of the year, alongside rapper Lil Wayne and R&B star Chris Brown, who have three nominations each. The 36th annual American Music Awards will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on November 23, with comedian Jimmy Kimmel returning as host. ABC will broadcast in the United States. Scheduled performers include teen idols the Jonas Brothers, pop singer Pink and reunited boy band New Kids on the Block. For the second year, winners will be determined by online voting. They used to be decided by a poll of 20,000 music buyers, but producers decided to make the event more inclusive in the wake of slumping ratings. The move seemed to work, with last year’s show attracting 11.8 million viewers, up from 10.9 million the year before. Keys was recognized for her album, “As I Am,” which opened at No. 1 on the U.S. pop chart last November. It was cited for favorite album in the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories, and she was nominated for favorite artist in both those categories.
This chick is always at the top of the game whether it is her music or the acting she has done. For what it’s worth, she is even a successful home-wrecker.

I met Alicia Keys in May and she is a stunner…she’s even prettier in person and she is super sweet and down to earth. I will be rooting for her all the way! She’ll rack up those AMAs and then come Grammy time people better watch out because Alicia’s As I Am is going to mop the floor with the competition. Get those awards and stack that paper Alicia!!

I dont like all this talk Bossip is doing about Alicia being a “homewrecker” I recall reading an article that she is and has been with the same man for like 8 yrs. I may be off on the time but give it a rest Bossip. Her music is refreshing, intelligent, non-offensive, inspriring , and uplifting. And I will be going to see the SECRET LIFE OF BEES. In the movies-not online. At least I dont know what she looks like naked, that it itself is an accomplishment these days. lol
Yeah, but when you have the right people behind you, any celebrity can be on top of their game. I don’t know, I’m not a real Alicia keys fan, but many people like her songs. I think her raspy voice kind of annoys me though.

Puffy tried to sign her back in the day, she said he had no respect for female artist, (really!)and moved on to sign with Clive Davis. What a train wreck that would have been. Glad she was able to stay true to herself and her brand of music. She comes across quite genuine, and has some substance, intelligent commentary and social awareness. Glad to see a successful example of an artist with a personality instead of a persona. I was going to comment on the homewrecking statement but any man or woman who believes someone can come in your home and ruin your marriage need to find another spouse, or go to counseling because that relationship is built on absolutely nothing.

Alicia is mad overrated. I liked her waaaay better when she stuck to what she knew: CL*****ICAL PIANO. She is not a singer at all. And now she has become mad mainstream with the perm, all the wack dress, and breaking up people’s happy home. I like the rebel, ‘i don’t care if you think im gay’, raw talent. She hasn’t dropped anything that even comes close to ‘fallin’ or ‘i ain’t got you’.

Her voice is kinda horsie.. I don’t care for her music at all. Her first album was it. She isn’t much of talent to me. Just playing those keys. She does look good. She do have a set of ankles on her and a few period marks, acne…. Whatever the case, good luck to her. Also on the home wrecker part. To me that was funny!
