Washington Mayor Vincent Gray was released early Tuesday after being arrested while protesting outside the Capitol, police said. Gray’s daughter, attorney Jonice Gray Tucker, paid his $50 “collateral” so that he could be released, according to the mayor’s communication director.

The U.S. Capitol Police arrested 41 people Monday outside the Hart Senate Office Building, charging them with unlawful assembly, according to Sgt. Kimberly Schneider.
Schneider said Gray will have to appear in court to face the misdemeanor charge. Gray and other city council members joined protesters asking for freedom to spend District money. The budget deal negotiated between the White House and congressional leaders last week would keep the District from spending its money to provide abortions for low-income women.

In a tweet Monday, Gray said, “I am calling on all residents of DC to join us NOW at the Hart Senate Office Building to stand for our freedom!” Later Monday he tweeted, “Getting arrested on the Hill for DC autonomy @DCVote.” The abortion rider also included money to restart the city’s school voucher program, which was previously cut.

Hopefully when it’s all said and done, the people of DC will be able to use their money how they feel like spending it. SMH at the federal government.

This jackazz is just trying to deflect attention away from his corrupt administration. He has already within the first 2 months had to fire numerous people and apoligize for going back to the old cronyism hire friends and family that brought that city to the brink moral retardation and hopelessness in previous administrations. Think Detroit, Think Marion Barry

Corrupt was the last admin. Who blew a billion dollar surplus budget on dog parks and bike lanes. Hired his Nupe boys in no bid contracts.

The only reason Gray is getting rid of staff is because the DC media is mad that thier boy Fenty was dismissed by the people.

Charge the taxes you pay to the game & take care of your own isht. I live in DC & pay DC taxes but I could give a f*ck what’s done with that money & I’m not delusional enough to believe and debate that it should be spent a certain way. That money gone. I move on.

obama cuts hiv funding in budget , higher percentage of blacks have hiv and yet they still will vote for Obam in 90%! Ones of the the good things george w did was invest in fighting aids in africa.

  • Steelcitychick

@jt…I totally agree..The one thing I admired about the Bush andministration was their stand on helping people with HIV!…I’m rethinking about my support for the Obama administration…That is a big issue with me, being that I’ve lost too many friends thru this disease!
