Epitome Of A Bad Mother: Atlanta Woman Arrested For Leaving Her 4 Year-Old At Home Alone While She Went To Work!

This b*tch here…

Atlanta police arrested the mother of a 4-year-old boy found wandering around a southwest Atlanta apartment complex after the woman returned home later Wednesday morning, discovered the child missing and called 911.
A police spokeswoman said the mother, who left the child home alone while she was at work, was charged with reckless conduct.

A resident of the Woods at Glenrose apartments on Mt. Zion Road called police about 2:30 a.m. after noticing the boy walking around shoeless and wearing only boxer shorts.

“We tried to get him to show us where he lived,” Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs said.

“He wanted a piggyback ride, so one of my sergeants put him on his shoulders and said he would give him a piggyback ride if he showed us where he lived and carried him about four blocks and the house he showed us wasn’t the house,” Hobbs told the AJC before daybreak. “So, he got his piggyback ride, and we don’t know where he lives.”

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., the mystery was solved when a woman from the same complex called police to report that her son was missing.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the mother, 30-year-old Christina Maronie, had left the child at home overnight while she went to work.

“The mother came home, noticed the child missing and called police,” Jones said. She said Maronie was charged with reckless conduct and taken to the Fulton County Jail.

The boy was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding to be checked out, then was placed in the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services.

We refuse to believe that she couldn’t have found someone to watch her child for a few hours while she went to work. And what’s worse is that it’s probably not the first time she pulled this move!

Poor little one. He could have been hurt wandering out there. Lots of parents must choose between child care and having food and rent. The world can be a sad and trying place. I’m glad he is alright.

      Drugging lil kids is wrong!

That is why the FDA has pulled all of those OTC drugs off the market so that ignorant ppl won’t *coughs* “accidently” kill their children

  • jj

Seriously? She had no other options? How about she keeps her legs closed and doesn’t get knocked up until she can afford a damn babysitter?

    • G.M.

thats too logical of an answer for most females to understand lol😄

    • Honeydew

  • anon

It ain’t no excuses for what she did…no babysitter, you call off end of story. Yea you miss a days pay but your child is safe. A job can be replaced but your child is irreplaceable. To those ppl trying to excuse what she did sound like y’all did this ish b4 that’s why y’all got so much sympathy for this bird.

  • deesac

This is a case of poor parenthood, why bring a child into life with out a clue on how to raise them. What happen to our strong blk women that use to be the back bone of the blk famlies. Child support, clubs, and weaves ((NAPPY HEADS))lord help us.

  • $k8orDIE

Yes what she did was reckless, but we dont know her situation! At least she was not out at a party or concert! She was makin money for them but still not a smart thing to do! If you into politics, programs to help mothers who are in similar situations like this are being cut out the budget. But yet you have GE who makes 5 BILLION dollars and DID NOT PAY ONE DOLLAR IN TAXES!

    • YokoDMV

my mom started leaving me home alone after i was 7 – some people said that was too young…i turned out fine.

  • Nee

This is a sad story and I understand her situation as a single mom living in Atlanta however that was dangerous to the child. I had lived in ATL for 7 yrs & needed childcare but when I asked for help with childcare I was told they did not had funding & for me to take my child with me to my job interview, this came from a person that worked at the Georgia Dept. of Family & Childrens Services so I know this woman had to felt she had no choice even though it was a bad decision. If she had family or friends that could babysit I’m sure she would had someone help her but she didn’t like I didn’t have noone when I was living there so I left and now I’m around my family.

  • if anything be noble

@ ThickLikeCornbread, oh FDA, SDA, what do they know. At 8pm, all I know is it’s time for 3 words 1.Sud 2.a 3.fed. #iwantapiggybackride smh

  • FYBER

here go the hoodrats making up excuses for an unexcusable act.

  • if anything be noble

Bet she won’t leave that boy there next time without two words 1.Ny and 2.quil. And I bet that lock is up higher.

  • Steelcitychick

We really don’t know this womens situation…from what I’m told it’s hard to get help when your a single mother…especially when you have to work at night…What daycare’s open at night!?…I’m not condoning what she did..cause it was wrong, but she had no choice if she wants to put food on the table and stay off of welfare…I hope she get’s another chance in getting it right!…Obviously the baby daddy isn’t in the picture…and if she has family, they are useless!

  • if anything be noble

Ok… serious time. Do you really think Black people made it through the 1900s while subscribing to some Department of Children and Families way of living? Do you think there was always one gallon of milk in the fridge, fruit on the table, a bed for every child and a parent always in the home to tuck them in a bedtime? Not a chance. Black kids raised their sisters and brothers and nephews and nieces and shared half a chicken among them while keeping an eye out for the Mr. Badman in the apartment above them while their mothers and fathers (or just mothers) made do and worked 18 jobs to get them to tomorrow. Wasn’t no helmet to wear to take a bath. This is some modern American thing that strangles us. There wasn’t always heat and every bill paid. And that wasn’t bad mothering then and it’s not necessarily bad mothering now. It’s just people doing what they have to do until they can get to a better place to do better. And unfortunately people still have hard choices to make; it’s simply harder to make these choices now that life is so expensive, extended families are all over the country, immediate families are broken and we live in such a highly regulated society with such strongly enforced governmental involvement that has a rule for every move we make and little forgiveness on our end. How many 1950 Black kids would have been removed from the home if the government knew they didn’t have “enough” food or “enough” bedrooms? But their moms were just caught… and moms today still are.. caught trying to make a better life for their kids the best way they know how while playing by the rules … since the vast majority of Black mothers DO want better for their kids and work to get it … regardless what the television tells you.

    • deesac

      I agree 100%.

    • realtalk

AND THAT, AS THEY SAY, IS THAT! CO-SIGNING ALL UP AND THROUGH! *Dead* at “keepinng an eye out for Mr. Badman in the apartment above them”!

  • Renee

I completely agree with” if anything be noble”. Even as a married woman it is sometimes hard to get help from my husband with two girls so being a single mother has to be worse. I truly feel for all parents because we are going through some type of hell. I normally don’t post but this is disturbing on all levels. I love reading the comments from all because we are all diversed. TX2GA

  • Zon

  • J-BYRD

Naw….see when YOU HAVE BABIES FROM THEE DUDES YOU LOOS YOU FREEDOM, YOU DON’T KEEP THE MAN…2ND SHE HAD THE CHILD AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF RESOURCES FOR CHILD CARE SHE COULD HAVE PUT HER BABY INTO…I AM TIRED OF WOMEN AND I MEAN ALL WOMEN PULLING THE SINGLE MOTHER CARD…FIND THE MAN AND MAKE HIM RESPONSIBLE AS WELL AS YOURSELF!

  • tommykimon

Sad but true, everything cost too much. So I can see a mother getting stuck and not being able to afford a baby sitter.

  • tommykimon

Also at least she was trying to make a living and not out at the club.
