Colin Powell should have really run for president, and I think he is at odds with the Bush administration because of the war in Iraq–which is why he resigned. Remember Powell opposed the war. Powell is totally qualified to be president, and has actually commanded wartime troops, but the Republican party will never seriously endorse a black candidate because it is against their core beliefs.

I am sooo impressed with Colin Powell and I am so sorry he took that battering that Bush gave to him in 2004 surrounding the whole weapons of mass destruction mess. He is awesome and really about something. I am glad he was out there and I wish I could have heard it.

Is he a citizen of the USA? If so then yes he can claim African American. Also as a person with many caribbean family members..i have NEVER heard one of them refer to themselves as an Afro-Caribbean. The ones I know are PROUD to say they are Caribbean people of African descent but don’t usually use that term.

Always had respect for General Powell, even when he lost his way getting caught up in the “red storm”. Glad to see he’s showing respect to Mother Africa on an international stage.
