With the pictures, it’s all about timing. those pictures will come out eventually. It’s only 2011; when election times begins to take off I’m sure these pictures will mysteriously “leak” proving he’s really dead.

What part of Colin Powell’s speech to the UN was a lie. He presented evidence to support the US Government’s belief that Saddam had WMD. The evidence didn’t prove the case, but it supported it. There was still debate afterward as to whether the case was strong enough. That is completely different than this case in which the government has said that DNA evidence has provided 100% proof that the person killed was Bin Laden. If later evidence proves this not to be the case, it will be impossible for the goverment to claim that it was a mistake. I think there is a low probablity of that happening.

I also don’t want to imply that I think the goverment never lies, the government is made up of individuals, and individuals lie to protect themselves or promote an agenda. With what we know now, clearly the information he presented was one sided. But a lot of people pointed that out at the time. But there was nothing that was an out and out lie. Intelligence gathering is based on hearsay, especially inside a country as controlled as Iraq. That is way different than shooting a guy, seeing that he matches photos of Osama Bin Laden, doing a DNA test, and having the women there confirm they were his wives.

Also I never said anything about the DNA. Nor did I say that I think that Bin L is alive. My point was that don’t always beleive everything that the govt tells us. Also it didn’t matter who gave the speech. If a US govt official gives a official speech or statement then that speech or statement represents our govt veiwpoint or stance on the topic or issue.

Personally, I feel that the pictures which have been described as being “gruesome” would actually hurt Obama’s re-election because it would be too much for the American public. The same politicians crying for the pics to be shown will talk out the other side of their of their mouths and say the President was inappropriate for releasing the pics!

I think the government is no different than any other organization. It is made up of many people. If you wanted to, you could get a job working for the FBI or CIA. You just apply and they do a background check. Government workers are not bogeymen, they are people like you and me. I believe most of them are relatively honest because I believe most people are relatively honest. Not all are, that is true. More often when a government official says something that is not factual, it is a mistake and not a lie. There are bad people in government just as there are bad people outside of government, but they are outnumbered by the good ones. I do think government workers tend to be a little lazier than the private sector and not as efficient.

Colin Powell’s speech was to convince the UN. to support US action. We could have gone to war without his speech. No one was going to stop us. The U.S. has an all volunteer military. Our elected congress authorized our elected president to take any military actions he deemed necessary. That is the way it works. I couldn’t complain about that.

No, I am not being silly. Colin Powell went the the City College of New York and joined the Army. After many years of working his way up, he became Chairman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff and then Secretary of State. You don’t start at the top. But you start by applying. Colin Powell is a regular government employee.

Colin Powell was appointed to be Secretary of State, but he got there through government service. Those appointed officials at the head of agencies wouldn’t get anything done without all of the government workers that work for them. All of those people working their way up the chain know exactly what decisions are being made because they have to implement them. They are all people who just found jobs in goverment. That is what makes these government conspiracy theories so unlikely. There would have to be too many people involved.

In general, yeah, the foot soldiers in the Mob know what is going on. They have to carry out the orders, so they have a pretty good idea what is happening. If they don’t know the operation, what use are they?

I can tell you this from my experience in government. I worked at the U.S. European Command when I was in the Navy. I was a Lieutenant, definitely a little fish at that command. There were Generals and Admirals all over the place. I can tell you that policies go out for review by everybody under the sun. Everybody wants input. Not much gets done that is not looked at and commented on by a lot of people.

Of course they have more control because they give more money and volunteer for campaigns and they know some of the higher up people in the govt personally. They might play golf or tennis at the same country club. Shop at the same places. Anyone can do that. Just get involved with volunteering if you don’t have the money. I know exactly what you are talking about. These folks feel there is some vast conspiracy and whenever two rich and/or powerful people meet, they are part of some omnipotent organization plotting evil. I don’t think that is the case at all. Of course the rich protect their own interests. The poor try to protect theirs as well. They know how to work the system to get government benefits like the rich do.

Of course a person in a particular industry tries to get close to a legislator and convince him to degregulate that industry. That is politics. There is no vast conpiracy. There are powerful and less powerful people working in their own interests. You can meet these powerful people and do the same. It just takes some effort for those of us who weren’t born rich.

If Osama has been dead for years like so many people claim, then why would Al-Qaida confirm his death? What sense would that make? and if he’s been dead and the US knew, why on earth would the republicans allow Obama to take credit? Conspiracy theorists make little to no sense when presented with facts. Sometimes the truth is what it is whether you’re skeptical or not.
