Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart may have been arrested yesterday, but it hasn’t taken away from the festive mood he’s been in lately.
On May 21, Stewart is set to marry 29-year-old Porsha Williams, the first granddaughter of Civil Rights activist and philanthropist Hosea Williams, BOSSIP has learned exclusively. The wedding will take place at the Hotel St. Regis in Atlanta’s posh Buckhead neighborhood.
Stewart’s rep says the wedding is being crafted as the perfect fairytale wedding and will be a full on family affair: the wedding party consists of 14 bridesmaids and groomsmen; Porsha’s brother Hosea Williams III will walk her down the aisle on behalf of their late father; and Kordell’s son Syre will serve as their ring bearer.
As for his arrest, Stewart’s rep says the details were slightly exaggerated. During a routine traffic stop, Stewart found out that his license was suspended due to an outdated speeding ticket. He was taken into custody and was released less than two hours later, not four. He says the incident has taught him to pay closer attention to such matters.
Stewart is scheduled to appear in a Fulton County, GA courtroom on July 12. In the meantime, he is focusing on starting the next chapter of his life with Porsha.
As far as his career is concerned, it now hinges on two things: the NFL lockout ending before the start of the 2011-2012 season; and ESPN deciding if they will take any action against Stewart for his arrest.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
