yea i was there today and it was truly an momentous occassion. there is really something mesmerizing about Obama. I’ve never gone to political rally and I’ve never felt energized and inspired for real lol … listening to Obama speak his words rang strong across that park, and he sounded like a man speaking from the courage of his convictions and genuine.

I WAS THERE…I Volunteered and there were soooo many people there, the campaign people were saying that they estimated 65 to 80 thousand people would show up…it was such an amazing experience I have been volunteering alot and would encourage everyone to get involved in some form, it’s such a great experience to really feel involved in history

We all need to say a prayer for Obama and the nation. Seeing that crowd will work up the lunatic fringe and I fear his safety will be more at risk. I also think that hate crimes against black folks may intensify.

Some folks are looking for someone to blame for the collapsing economy and their corresponding ability to live their way of life. The McCain team are using that anger to fan the flames of racism to win. Its not like racism wasn’t there already in the minds and hearts of some people, but I think the tone of the presidential campaign has created a convenient diversion for the real causes of our current problems. This tactic is older than the United States of America: the slave trade took jobs away from whites and they got angry at the slaves instead of the masters.

With all of the above on him, Obama will have to fix our economy, combat global terrorism, and bring our troops home.

We need to pray as often as we can for his and his family’s safe passage as well as our collective safety in this time of crazy.

I agree 100% with you. Palin and McCain are using tactics to ignite feelings of hate and racism which could cause Obama and his family harm. Her comments the other day about the more “patriotic” Americans were found in the small towns was proof of that. Patriotic was clearly a code word for racist, and the average white person that falls into this category should embrace Obama because he is truly working for the average American. I really hope he makes it to the White House and does a good job, because I believe major barriers would be broken down.

The point you are making doesn’t make that much sense considering that fraudulent applications turned in from Acorn were based more on individual worker fraud as opposed to that of the organization. They were paid on the number of registrations they got, so they got them however they could–which doesn’t make it right. In actuality this does not justify throwing out 200,000 applications submitted by Acorn. Do you believe Micky Mouse or Captain America will actually show up to cast a vote? I don’t. And these were some of the registrations they had. Other discrepancies included name initials, one letter in the name different than on the application (i.e. Bobbie/Bobbi), voters change of address. The GOP was clearly trying to block a large number of Democrats from voting. I agree voters should have identification but other than that it doesn’t matter how many applications are fraudulent; what matters is the actual person coming out to cast the vote.
