Jesus Take The Wheel: 5-Year-Old Girl Clings To Life After Man Opens Fire In Crowd

All this thuggery has got to stop. We really hope this little girl will pull through … SMH

A 5-year-old girl was clinging to life last night after a stray bullet pierced her back on a Bronx street, police sources said.

The little girl was standing near a man and a teen on Morrison Ave. near Westchester Ave. in the Soundview section when a gunman ran up and opened fire on the crowd about 10:15 p.m., the sources said.

The man and the teen, ages 24 and 15, were hit in the gunfire, cops said. One bullet hit the young girl in her back and tore through her abdomen, sources said.

“Whoever this animal was, he didn’t care,” a source said. “He was shooting in the direction [of the little girl].”

The shooter fled across the Bronx River Parkway and into the Sonia Sotomayor Houses, sources said. Nine shell cases were later found at the scene.

The girl was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was in surgery last night. The older victim was taken to the same hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The teen was in stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.

Sources said it appears the wounded man and teen were the intended targets of the shooting. The gunman was still at large early Saturday morning.

Long gone are the days when youngsters used to scrap over beef. Now, these little kids carry guns and will take a life without hesitation … even the innocent bystanders. SMH

It’s 10 at night, why on earth is she outside that time of night in the first place?

I don’t even know what to say but felt something had to be said,…..as a mother my heart breaks EVERYTIME I read stories like this. I am a mother and I would lose my mind if this were my child. We are more vulnerable than any of us realize. We women carry these kids so we have a different kind of bond with our children. I think a lot of the problems lies with men (not all men) but more so the ones that maybe did not have theie fathers in their lives (some still turn out to be great loving and supportive fathers)they did not have the chance to feel what a MAN does for his children, how he loves them, therefore without that experience they don’t know how to love and support their children properly. Some had horrible mothers and bad experiences in life and that IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR but I will say that these types of people most times are not in a healthy place emotionally so they don’t have a heart or feelings and sometimes not even emotions, or remorse for their actions. I pray for the world today, it is so messed up. I love my children with all my heart but sometimes I wish I had not brought them into this cruel world because I realize more and more how vulnerable they are and that I cannot protect them all of their lives no matter how much I would love to.

Someone should have caught her and beat her down, didn’t even face what she did to that family and their loved ones and friends. Someone should have ran her behind over with their car.

,,and yiu guys STILL blame blacks for moving to white areas….

    • ShawnNeverSettles

This could have happened anywhere look at Arizona and Representative Giffords, there was a little girl killed then so it does not matter where you live, you are vulerable everday, anywhere you go. I am black and 99% of my neighbors are white that does not mean I am totally safe, they might be racist,….I was frowned upon when I first moved here but it’s not me they need to worry about and they soon realized that when a white person decided to burn two homes down here, and I can go further and tell you my community is super private, so you see it does not matter. I live and let live but I tell you what the day one of them ####s with me then there will be a problem….lol but I have been here for over five years and I don’t know one of them and don’t care to know them, a few of them have tried to get in my business but I don’t play that #### cause even though I am not racist I must be honest and say I do not trust them, I have seen a lot of them (not all) being super sneaky and doing people so wrong all my life so I just stay away from them to play it safe (I do the same for some blacks too) so it is what it is I am just private. Sorry but just as whites don’t trust blacks we don’t trust you all either and that is just being 100% real with you. I have plenty of white friends but I only trust them to a certain point and I am pretty sure they probably feel the same way about me, NONE of us would say that but deep down we all know it’s true, doesn’t mean we are racist just a part of self preservation……lol

The more I analyze the more it becomes clear: not all but many black men do not love or value themselves. They kill eachother at the drop of a dime. They walk out on their children. Which leaves the female to raise a child on their own. Which steers many boys in the wrong way without a father figure. A vicious cycle. They degrade their women that look like them while simultaneously praising women from another race or women lighter than them. These characteristics can only conclude a serious disdain for oneself. a deep rooted mental sickness that is tearing the black community apart. I pray for our black men.

    • ShawnNeverSettles

@Rhonda, You would be surprised of how many black people have NEVER even hear of this letter, if people were to read it it would explain so much and make people understand more about their people and make it a point catch themselves when they feel themselves thinking that way or acting that way.

  • Janay

The more I analyze the more it becomes clear: not all but many black men do not love nor value themselves. Examples: They kill eachother at the drop of a dime. They walk out on their OWN children/flesh and blood. Which leaves the female to raise a child on their own. Which steers many boys in the wrong way without a father figure. A vicious cycle. They degrade THEIR women that look like them while simultaneously praising women from another race or women lighter than them. These characteristics can only conclude a serious disdain for oneself. a deep rooted mental sickne$s that is tearing the black community apart. Black AA men have failed their own community and race. I pray for our black men.

Hope this innocent little girl pulls through. Yet another victim of a senseless violence black on black crime.

Poor little child I hope she pulls through.

Ohh..now I see why amber is so negative. She lives in the bottom of the earth ghetto projects. She said her nieces and nephews can’t play outside. You know that’s the slums.

Deaya I agree but its another ploy to place the blame on black women and their parenting skills. Black women are doing the best they can to raisbcgild

This is a ridiculous. I am not surprised in the Soundview section though. I hate to say that but if you know Soundview, it is the truth.

I hope this girl recovers, fully, but I am with the people questioning why she was out that late anyway?

  • Janay

Deaya I agree but its another ploy to place the blame on black women and their parenting skills. Black women are doing the best they can to raise their kids even though the fathers not there. The result

Your comment doesn’t warrant a response.

    You will remain on IGNORE.

    Nice Try!

  • Janay

Jay how are able to sit and generalize black women to even say they are hands off with kids. FACT: they are the main one raising and parenting black kids. Black men are ones missing from these households. If anything we need more male mentors such as yourself in our community. I understand your point but Black women are there and they have been there. black men are the missing link not us theres plenty of us. I made an educated a$$umption they were black because It’s a black site. duh lol. its also something common in poor black communities that’s why. Without researching further I’d be willing to put money on them being black. Sad but true. we have lived up to The sad stereotypes whites have placed on us.

maybe I missed it but I did not see where they said the mom knew or was there with her. Now I know we tend to think politically correct but the real is she may have had to work and was not around, that does not mean she knew or wanted her child out there, there are a lot of men that do not think like women, so they don’t think about the dangers that we do, we are always so quick to look at mom, well when are men going to be held equally accountable, people never ask about where the man was or if it was his decision that may have placed a child in harms way, they automatically a.s.sume the child was with the mom or that she knew what was going on, people can act one way in front of people and when they are not in front of those people become totally different people. My kids father pulled the leave them at home while I was at work to hang out with his friends a next door and I came home early, he honestly did not see a problem with it but me being a mother I know that anything can happen in a split second, but I never thought he would have done such a thing but when he did I looked at him differently and then left him. Was I not suppose to take a good paying job because I had to leave them with him? (yes he worked too (for the ignorant ones who are ready to say I was the only one working or that I was taking care of him). Stop blaming women for everything and look at the men sometimes or at least be open minded to it maybe being him and not her, why does ALL the responsibilty and blame have to fall on women? Wow, ignorance is bliss I suppose.

  • southern twist

hmmm so the mom is responsible for a little girl getting shot???? what about the trigger happy black male.of course he’s black male! really not interested you have major issues dude ! i see you haven’t said anything about the shooter but blame a child!

  • Realtalk101

Why is a 5 year old outside at 10pm? Because this is a free country and she was not alone, she was being supervised. It is unfortunate when society asks why are people enjoying the outdoors when thugs should be the ones indoors. Maybe communities will come together one day and put trifling riff raff in their places. SMH

I never hear much about Canada and racism or bashing of the sexes, they are pretty quiet up there, maybe we should expand our horizons….America is going to the bottom, fast. If people read these comments and think we are not in trouble….smh.
