At some point, parents have to be able to determine what’s inappropriate enough for their kid that they need to turn the TV off, without making a federal case about it.
According to TMZ, the Parents Television Council is mad at Rihanna for killing a man in the video for the song that starts out with the line “I didn’t mean to end his life.”
The council is outraged that Rihanna would suggest that gunning down a rapist in a crowded train station is a proper form of justice.
The council says, “If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass …”
The council is all the more outraged that Rihanna tweeted her fans that the video contained, “a very strong underlying message 4 girls like me.”
The council’s venom is also directed at BET for airing the video
Really though? Okay, first why the hell does Chris’s name have to be brought into the discussion? And how did you not expect for this video to feature a man getting shot down? And where exactly did the video say it was “a proper form of justice”? Did Rihanna not look troubled by her decision? Do the lyrics not suggest even more strongly that she’s remorseful for her actions?
But above all, why is it Rihanna and BET’s responsibility to explain to your kids that TV is make believe??? GTFOHWTS.
