Scandal-plagued New York Congressman ANTHONY WEINER announced his intention to resign today after The NATIONAL ENQUIRER published a shocking cover photo of him wearing women’s lingerie!

Caught strutting his stuff in a bra and women’s hose, the world exclusive photo is seen in the upper right –hand corner of the new print edition of The Enquirer, which began hitting newsstands yesterday.

Within hours of publication, Weiner’s office announced he would speak to reporters at 2 P.M. today.

Multiple news outlets, including the Associated Press, said the 46-year-old married lawmaker – who has a baby on the way — had made the decision to give up his House seat and resign. The Enquirer photo – depicting Weiner in women’s undergarments and another pic of him in skintight swim briefs – was snapped by a college pal in 1982, when the then 18-year-old Weiner was enrolled in the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

The scandal erupted on May 28 when a conservative website posted a lewd photo of an underwear-clad crotch and said it had been sent from Weiner’s Twitter account to a Seattle woman.

After initially lying and saying his account had been hacked, Weiner finally acknowledged that he had engaged in several “sexting” relationships with women on the Internet. The Democratic politician also confirmed exchanging Twitter messages with a 17-year-old girl from Delaware, but police said nothing inappropriate appeared in their texts.

Weiner, who had refused to resign amid an ethics investigation, had recently entered a treatment facility to deal with his “sex addiction.”
