Kanye may have been somewhat comforted during his grief knowing that his mom heard “Hey Mama” shortly before she passed:
KANYE WEST’s song HEY MAMA was the last tune the rapper’s mother heard before she died from cosmetic surgery complications last year (Nov07), according to her own mother. Concerns for her daughter’s wellbeing prompted Jean Roberson to rush to Donda West’s bedside after the professor failed to regain consciousness after eight hours of surgery. To wake her, Roberson took out her cell phone and played the version of West’s Hey Mama she had downloaded as a ringtone. In an exclusive interview with U.S. TV news show Access Hollywood, Roberson says, “I put the phone to her ear and said, ‘Donda, listen… “Wake up, listen. Kanye’s singing to you.’” The patient eventually did come round and was wheeled out of surgery in “an executive chair”. Donda West died the following evening.
This is a bittersweet story if ever there was one. No doubt Yeezy will use this whole experience as material for some new and creative music in an effort to continue to make Moma West proud.

I think it had more to do with the DOCTOR – who turned out not to be so certified and bonified – than anything else. People get plastic surgery every day.
That doctor butchered Kanye’s Mom and then sent her home.
Anyway, we’re not going to go through this whole mess again because this was a very sad situation.

Thats beautiful and also bittersweet like you said. That song is so beautiful, I remember right after I found out she p*****ed I immediately thought about that song. I listened to it a couple of weeks ago and it always brings me to tears and it did that b4 his moms died. I think about my own mother and so many mothers out there that sacrifice so much for there kids. Aint nothing like a momma people and if you still got yours, even if you dont have a tight relationship, you should be thankful because to me losing a mother is probably the worst thing next to a mother losing a child. Ima bout to call my moms just thinking about that song!

I’m so sick of kanye. People died everyday parent, brother, sisters…. let it go and move on. Yes you are right he will milk this for all the symapthy and attention he could get. who loses a parent and makes it a public thing
At RO, people do die everyday but it is the GRIEF that is left behind forever. You sound like a real bitter person to make that statement. Kanye would trade EVERY DIME he has to have his Mother back. It is evident in the song he made about their love, it was evident in their photographs and how about the many times he broke down on stage after his Mother died? If you think money rivals his Mom in Kanye’s eyes, then you have never ever listened to the song Hey Mama or any other songs where he PRAISED the ground she walked on for believing in him and loving him.

DBR,know not bitter don’t have a reason. Just sick of Kanye. We all have memories don’t use it for ratings and sympathy. We didn’t know her ,just of her. Greive to yourself to yourself that private and personal. NOW HE WANTS THE WORLD TO CRY WITH HIM. He just needs to fall on his knees and pray for strenght and leave the world alone about his mother.
Kanye is the epitome of a great son just like other men in our society. Many people are unable to sympothize when losing a loved one. I know how it feels to lose someone.
