Willow Smith

Let’s be real now — are we really feelin’ Willow Smith’s getups?

10-year-old Willow Smith was recently named an “American Fashion Icon” by Derek Lam, who was asked for his favorite celebrity picks by Vogue Magazine.

Vogue editors asked a number of designers to name their style picks. Other ladies to make the list include: Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, actresses Michelle Williams and Cate Blanchett, model/filmmaker Christy Turlington and U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.

Pop stars Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are also highlighted by Tommy Hilfiger, who says,

“With Taylor’s energetic charisma and Katy’s edgy charm, they look as good in a casual summer dress as they do on the red carpet.”

Ummmmmmmmmmmm really?

As for Willow, Derek Lam described the actress and pop star as:

Naturally talented, charismatic, unblemished optimism, with the whole wide world open to her possibilities and abilities. I think she is the future-forward American icon.”

We think that most of what he said is true, but think that her style could use a lil editing. What do you think?

We’ve gathered a collection of some of her most memorable ‘fits below… Have a look and weigh in on whether or not she deserves the American Fashion Icon honor:

  • Cici & Coco -The Besties

No. & what does her shirt say…??

  • trene

Of course not, nbr 1 she does not dress herself she has a stylist duh? How can any of these celebrities who can’t even step outside the house without their stylist dressing them. Their stylist should be named the fashion icons, not them!

  • Troi Dustin

    Willow is so dang cute.

  • loc

Hell no! she does not pick her own clothes are hair styles her momma and daddy pay people to give her that look! and she is very pretty little girl but i dont like how the dress how to look older. by the time she 18 she gone be washed up!

  • King Beef

She?s still a child for all those with negative comments. I know she?s going to grow into a funky beautiful edgy type woman.she can?t help it she got good genes.

  • Bernadean

I bet u every1 who had something negative to say about Willow was white!! Smh…..

  • Brianna

Shes like 10 yrs old get real. She’s cute an all but who can honestly say that they don’t want to bash their head in cuz of whip my hair? We all know she prob got a stylist or two.

  • http://bossip Ms. Rose

The girl is ten. An alright kid as well. I personally don’t like the way the stylists or who dresses her. She should like like a little girl –not a baby “punky brewster”. That look was from back in the late ’70s-early ’80s. Make the girl SET TRENDS -not use one from an era that she wasn’t even a part of.

The sooner ppl realize that Will & Jada are paying the press for this publicity for the baby the sooner we can get back to real news. My daughter is prettier and more stylish without any prodding, just a fact. But I do like that the Smith kids are respectful and playful “role models” that offer black alternatives to the Biebers and the Miley Cyrus’s of the world. Just a thought…

And @Bernadean Do You Know How Dumb You Sound Right Now Saying That Just Because We State An Opionion We Have To Be White. You Get A “Hoe Sit Down” For That One!!

  • Steelcitychick
