FAWK a “Chittlin’ Circuit”!
La La Vazquez-Anthony can now add a stage play to her resume. But it’s not one of those “For Black People Only” plays starring every retired R&B singer and throwback child actor you can think of. She jumped straight to the big time: Broadway.
Producers of the show “Love, Loss and What I Wore” announced LaLa as one of their latest cast additions yesterday. The play, which opened at the Westside Theater back in 2009, is based on a book of the same name by Ilene Beckerman. The stage version, written by Nora and Delia Ephron takes on the books concept of telling women’s stories of love and loss by building those stories around their clothing and accessories.
“Love, Loss and What I Wore” features a rotating cast of five women. LaLa gets to share this resume item with the likes of Fran Drescher, Janeane Garofalo, Stacy London (“What Not To Wear”), Jane Lynch (“Glee”), Rosie O’Donell, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sherri Shepherd, Brooke Shields, Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
Get it La La! We better NEVER see you in one of those touring Gospel plays after this!
