Jigga and Ye may feel like royalty these days, but these people were already calling themselves kings, queens and princes. From Prince to King James, here are some stars that considered themselves the royal court of their chosen field.
Prince - He didn't even go with the nickname, just called himself Prince from the jump and told the world to get with the program. It only took him one album to earn the title though.
King Of Pop - Even though the King may be gone, there isn't an heir to throne at all. In fact, the King won't ever be dethroned even beyond the grave. That white hat from "Smooth Criminal"? Might as well have been a crown.
King Of Soul - James Brown had a swagger most of these young cats would kill for. Homie screamed out that it was a man's world and he had the cape and spins and all that. He earned his crown.
The King Of The South - Tip rubbed a ton of rappers the wrong way when he told everyone that he was the King of the South. But he backed it up and battled anyone that said otherwise. Of course, he can't do much defending from the clink, which is where he's been for most of the last three years. Kings don't go to jail, son!
Queen Of Soul - With a voice like hers, you can see how she got the name. After all these years, Aretha is still alive and kicking. And she could probably deliver a performance of "America The Beautiful" that would stand up against most others out there.
Queen Bee - Who wanna rumble with the B, huh? Well, Nicki Minaj does, but that's besides the point. Anyway, Kim had the name of Queen Itchbay and held on to it for the longest. Unfortunately, she got dethroned by the new breed. Too bad, Kimmy.
The King Of R&B - Hahahahaahahahahaha...wait...let us catch our breaths and wipe the tears...whoo hahahahaahaha...okay, sorry. Remember when Whitney called him the king of R&B?! Jamie Foxx said it best when he was wondering if she was speaking of Rocks & Blunts.
The Underground Kings - UGK is possibly the most legendary and respected rap group to come out the South. They definitely were underground royalty. R.I.P. Pimp C.
The King Of NY - This may seem like forever ago, but there was a time when New York was the home of the best Hip-Hop and being King of that land was the best thing a rapper could be. And it was clear that Biggie was that king.
King James - Jimmy James was calling himself King James while he was still in high school. It's been almost 10 years and he still hasn't ruled the NBA with a championship crown yet. Maybe next year? Or the one after that?
