With all the “grown” groupie tail that’s thrown at professional athletes, this guy is chopping down 16-year-olds:
A former Freedom High School teacher and Tampa Bay Buccaneer was arrested Friday on charges of having sexual relations with a student.
Dwight Levasiyea Ellick, 28, is accused of an Unlawful Sex Act with a Minor. According to a police statement, “On June 8th, 2010, school officials contacted Tampa Police regarding a teacher involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. The suspect was involved in a sexual encounter with the student at his residence on June 4th.”
The student had told some friends about the encounter. School officials heard about the incident on June 8 and contacted authorities.
Detectives later confirmed the story and filed the case with the State Attorney and a warrant was issued for Ellick’s arrest.
He was arrested without incident at his home.
Officials say Ellick was hired as a substitute teacher at Freedom High in 2007 and given a full-time teaching position in 2008.
After he was removed from the school in 2010, he was given an administrative position.
When his teaching contract ended in June of 2011, it wasn’t renewed and he is no longer employed as a Hillsborough County teacher.
He was expected to be booked into the Hillsborough County Jail Friday afternoon.
