We’ve all been making fun of Lil Wayne over the last few days, but it looks like the joke is on us.
According to Billboard, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV is on pace to sell anywhere between 850,000 and 900,000 in its first week. That would make it the highest selling album of the year, almost doubling sales of Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne that was supposed to be the biggest release of 2011.
The most amazing thing about it is that Weezy’s promotion for the album has been lackluster at best. Still, he somehow dropped an album that everyone was dying to get their hands on.
No word yet on if Baby has been hitting up every Best Buy in the country to cop 500,000 for himself to boost the sales, which wouldn’t surprise us. Either way, congrats to Weezy F. Baby!
