During a promo stop for his new book yesterday, Common told Wendy Williams the story of how Erykah kicked him to the curb when their matched made in boom-bap and patchouli was over.

“I was in my hotel room on tour… and she called me and was like, ‘Hey, I don’t wanna be in this relationship no more. I’m liking somebody else,’” Common laughed Tuesday while visiting the “Wendy Williams Show.”

The rapper/actor/author said Erykah was his first real love and first heartbreak. It wasn’t a total loss, though. He said he learned a lot from the relationship and the two are now good friends.

He also said he’s now just friends with his former girlfriend and tennis star Serena Williams. While he didn’t reveal why the two broke up, he said Serena embodies everything he looks for in a woman.

“I love women that are beautiful in all shapes and sizes, but you know I do like, I have enjoyed a woman who is thick and likes to cook and strong, intelligent, still God-loving, but knows how to have fun,” he said.

Hmm… You know, it’s been said that men don’t walk away from a good woman. So…
