Am I My Brother’s Keeper? Kobe Bryant Is Prepared To Make It Rain On His Fellow Players If NBA Lockout Is Too Long!

This is the last guy we expected to be down with something like this.

In an interview with the L.A. Times, NBA Players Association head Billy Hunter says that NBA players have been prepared for the financial hardships of a lockout for several years now. For those that may not be as prepared there has been talk of a player-sponsored revenue pool to help make sure that lower-tier pay-scale ballers still maintain without their game checks.

What role will NBA superstars like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James play as this moves forward?

They’ve been deeply involved in the meetings we’ve had. I know Kobe is intimately involved in interfacing with colleagues and sharing in a pool of revenue to help the others get through this. Kobe has volunteered to do that in the event others need, he and others are prepared to loan money if necessary.’

Helluva a gesture considering that Kobe has a history of throwing his teammates under the bus (side-eyes Shaq).

that’s good p.r …if you’re in the league you probably make atleast $400.000 a year.most of these players come from zero so they should be able to readapt to not having tons of money.

I think Kobe gets a bad rap sometimes, I don’t think he is a bad of guy as everybody thinks he is. He did wrong in Colorado by cheating on his wife, But like he’s the first or the last to do that. And as far as throwing Shaq under the bus….Ish rolls both ways in this case. I think this is a good move and a nice gesture on his part. Lookin’ out for his bretheren.

That’s cool, But as a NBA fan I hope it doesn’t come to that.

League minimum is like 800k-900k per year. Hardly chump change. The Lock out will make some of these players face what everyday folk have been dealing with in the current economic crisis- getting by on much less than they’re used to.

    @ ladyd

Thank you for the correction.I don’t feel as sorry for these athletes as I do for the common folk who are seein their wages cut simply because their owners see a chance to short sell them.
