A Virginia jury has sentenced Carmela dela Rosa to 35 years in prison after convicting her of murder for throwing her 2-year-old granddaughter from a pedestrian bridge at a shopping mall because she was angry that her daughter got pregnant out of wedlock, the Associated Press reports.
Attorneys for Dela Rosa, 50, had argued she was insane when she threw Angelyn Ogdoc off the 45-foot-high skywalk at Tysons Corner Center in McLean last November.
