Many women (and men for that matter) who make a living from sex receive alot less money that they do not get to keep. They are not empowered to choose their partners or ask them to use condoms. They are shunned by society and often suffer abuse. When you think of it in global terms, the politics of sex gets more complicated than this.

So by your logic, a married man should be able to go out and get a prostitute any time he felt like it if prostitution were legal, right? There is actually another reason that prostitution is illegal other than “Men getting their cut and controling women.” It is the fact that it is immoral! For example, if you had a daughter and she decided to quit going to school at 16 and become a prostitute because she felt that she was going to make more money screwing random strangers, how would that make you feel? How bout if she got strung out on drugs and was found dead with a needle in her arm? Had a child and decided she didn’t want it and threw it in a trash can somewhere, and the list goes on. By making it “illegal” it is still the lesser of two evils.
People will cosign anything no matter what it is. A person can do whatever they want w/their body – that’s on him/her, but they have to deal with the consequences of it; however, for all the pro-prostitution people, would you want them doing business around your home, the schools where your children go, doing their business in your yard, on your street?

There are legal w*****houses in Nevada. Yet there is no high dropout rate of 16 yr olds who become prostitutes in Nevada. There are “escort services” in the YELLOW PAGES! M*****age parlors are full of prostitutes. They just call themselves “m*****euses.” So there are plenty of opportunities for teen girls to make bucks as prostitutes with little to no interference from the law. Yet, there is no high percentage of high school girls dropping out and getting jobs as escorts and m*****euses.
Also, becoming a prostitute doesn’t make you a drug addict nor does it necessarily mean that you practice unsafe sex and/or get pregnant. Those things happen to MORE women who AREN’T prostitutes. Stop using exaggerated “what-if’s” as scare tactics. That’s so lame.

I wish people would stop fantasizing and politicizing sex. Sex is sex…that is it. It’s similar to paying someone to give you a m*****age, which in my opinion is much more intimate. “*****” is no longer a reproductive tool, but instead an object.
