    We love Obama In UK.

  11. TATIANA

    BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES, MR.PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

  12. Tatiana

Well see I am so damn proud of America and all the minorities that went and voted today…I am so ready for a change. Just hope America knows that this change is not going to come over night. I know the republicans are gonna look for instant gratification then if they dont get it they will start to blame all of Bush’s mistakes on him. All and All I am soo happy and wish my grandparents were alive to see this.

  13. Lbstb

I cant believe it I must’ve jump up and down and started crying tears of joy. From the first black person that step off of the slave ship for every black person that was lynch and beating with water hose and attack with dogs. For going to jail for something they didnt do spit on when they walk for a protest and kill for just being black. And for the few white people that helps us along the way. All I have to say is THANK YOU!! MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT.

  14. DDub

What this means is a new wave in black leadership. Gone are the days of victim politics and to some extent affirmative action and reparation talk. The next crop won’t expect Obama to only address the concerns of the black community like Sharpton and Jackson tried to dictate.

There’s no excuses now. If you aren’t already on the grind, it’s certainly time to get it in gear.

  15. TATIANA

FINALLY!!! WE HAVE A PRESIDENT I AM PROUD OF

  16. tj

    yes we did!!!

  18. Bill

What the african americans must take from Obama’s win is not that the reality of bigotry and racial discrimination is gone, but that hard work and strength of character is a great way to overcome obstacles.

  19. SMS

  52. Thank You!!! Finally a black man as president!! Ys this election is more than him being black he is also a more suitable candidate as his background of work proved.

And I have to say it but it’s soo good to see a black first family in the white house and black wholesome family in the media often from now on.

Also have a positive black male image for young brothas to look up to instead of the ganstas drug dealers or rappers. And Michelle for the black women.

My father nephews and male cousins can look upon this historic day and say “I can be whatever I want to be” in this once white washed America.

Congrats to Michelle for becoming the first black first lady (sistas we in it now)

But most of all congrats to Obama for displaying cl***** and intelligence throughout this journey he’s a true symbol of grace.

OBAMA O8!!!! My president is black!!!

  53. KA

Fantastic. Been following Obama since he stood against Clinton. Even though as someone who lives in UK and has never been to america, I really hoped he would win as I feel he has it in him to change the world.

  75. BAHAMAS/CHICAGO/CAYMAN GIRL

I am not even American and you cannot believe the joy, pride and wonder I feel at this moment in history!! OMG, a Black man was given a chance in America to be President of the United States of America!! And the winder of it yes blacks voted for him in ridiculously record numbers but he got white votes, latino, women, I mean he resonated with so many people. And he embraced & reached out to the people who he knows did not wish him well. Amazing!!!

  76. Sagenoir

I’m really happy for a page of history in the writing. I am a black man from France. I can tell you that we were watching what’s is History. All I want you to do is to kick some doors as he will kick the white House’s door in January. Elevate your minds and set some higher goals so that we will be able to say ” that man was elected because he was competent and not only because he was black”. but many black people need to go and try to reach that elite cl***** so our entire race will be recognized.

Those who have seen Rev Jesse Jackson weren’t thinking he cried falsely after saying he wanted to cut Barack’s nuts but he cried because somehow MLK Jr’s dream came true. Is it to soon to say we’re equal? maybe but things are happening and we’re the actors.

    Congratulations

U said a mouthfull…bless U and let’s take this opportunity and make it the best ever

  95. I'm Just Sayin'

Does the dawning of the Obama Era also mean the beginning of accountability for black people? Does it mean that we now have to think twice; three; four or maybe even five times before we speak and allow all manner of ignorance to spew forth? Will having a “Black President” bring back the pride of self we seem to have lost as a people in the decades since the civil rights movement?

I recently took in an exhibit at the High Museum in Atlanta, GA. The focus was the Civil Rights Movement at it pinnacle in the 60’s. Something that stood out and was consistent in every photo on display, was the dignity and pride of self in those who came out to stand up for freedom. It was evident not only in their faces, but in the way they represented themselves. These people walked out of their doors KNOWING THEY WOULD BE either dragged, attacked by people and/or dogs, water hosed, tear g*****ed, and any other manner of violence that could be wrought against theM. Yet, in every photo, the women carried their very lady-like purses, wore nylons and what may have been their best dress. The men wore either suits or slacks and a tucked-in shirt. And each one, without exception, proudly wore or carried (as they were being attacked) their hats. It may seem an insignificant observation, but it was evidence of a people who cared about how they were viewed by the world. No matter how poor or under-educated, they wanted to show that they were as acceptable and decent as any other people of the world.

Will the “Obama Era” bring back that kind of self respect of self in our community? Will our young men stop emulating slaves and prisoners with their pants down around their hips? Will they start to carry themselves like they or their children could one day be President Elect? Will our young women stop dressing (or un-dressing) like prostitutes and present themselves like they or their daughters could one day be “First Lady or President Elect”? Does Barack Obama’s win usher in the end of Flava Flav and other such cooning negroes being raised to superstar status? Lord knows I hope so.

I’m not saying that the dawn of the Obama Era instantly erradicates racism. But it has instantly erradicated our excuses for not achieving (sp?.

People, accountability has arrived. Let not embarr***** “our” President. Can we meet the challenge? YES, WE CAN!

  96. Vinandi

I don’t want to stir ***** up here, but I know this is going to. All the racist comments aren’t helping the white americans views on your community, your just hurting yourselves. That being said, I am white and voted Obama, and I can’t even explain how excited I was when he won. I know I’m going to see..well your white, your a cracker, you wouldn’t understand. Your right, I wouldn’t but that doesn’t mean I don’t respect how proud you all feel. This should not be about race..black, white, yellow, green, it just shouldn’t matter..we wanted change and put the right man in place for that. My Obama signs were stolen out of my yard almost every night for the past week, and the next day I would go out and get more to put back in place of the stolen ones. My county is predominately white, and I’m sure I’m being hated on right now by all my McCain loving neighbors surrounding me. Five signs were stolen last night from my yard, and I can’t even explain how excited I was to stick another Obama sign in the yard this morning along with another sign saying “YES WE DID. Be proud we did something together as Americans.

    Obama 08~the change we need!

    @ yes we did…

I cosign with your comment that its not a black or white thing but an american thing. Everyone was fed up and wanted change and we got it because Obama is right for that change. Just don’t be too harsh on us we’re just Proud that a African American got in the White House.

  128. Yomammy

Yes We DID, YES We DID. I have never been so proud of anyone in my life. I woke up with my son this morning and pulled up the speech. He’s only 3 but I had to let him know that he could be president one day…for real!

  129. Joanie

God has spoken. This day was destined to be and it was claimed last night, in JESUS NAME!

  130. KMBPYT

  132. YES WE DID

I can completely understand why you would be proud as an African American, and please don’t stop celebrating it, its a great achievement for you and the United States of America. I just think the comments like “Wake up and realize that we are your masters now!!!” isn’t helping change any views that people have.

  133. Aries Chica

Take a bow Presidential Elect Obama and Vice Presidental Elect Biden….STANDING OVATION!

It has not sunk in yet I am in awe that my grandparents are not here to witness. The Obamba Family I mean WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY? Through the last 2 years the BEST they could do is find info on Jerimiah Wright, Ayers, His Aunt?? What could they find on this man and his family?? I am sure and am not saying he is perfect but This is a TRUE BLACK FAMILY and there are BLACK FAMILIES out here like this I am GLAD WHite America can see YES WE DO HAVE STRONG FAMILIES.

A man that CHERISHES his WIFE and can proudly SAY THIS IS MY ROCK it’s NOT a SECRET THEY WALK SIDE BY SIDE NOW THAT IS TRUE LOVE. MAke them a LOVE EXAMPLE it’s NOT ENTERTAINMENT or for $$$$.

I know he WONT be able to change it all but he did change a BIG part already HISTORY. I am ready to stand behind Obama/Biden through the good and bad judgements!!!

    God Bless!

  134. hmmmmm

    I’m Just Sayin’

    ————————————————–

    @ I’M JUST SAYIN

It wold be a blessing if the answer to your overall question was YES, but sadly the answer is NO. The negative habits and conditionings you speak about will die hard, because they have been woven into the psyche of a generation. Everything takes time…

Because I feel the population of blacks in those areas could make the change and they have not OR there is some boofonery going on down there. I mean I know it is still Redneck territory but my God come on So WI, IA, IN, ME, MA, MI, MN..ven in NE he lost by 2% and these are the whitest of WHITE states. I just felt the SOUTH could have represented MORE ..I hope that answered your question.

  149. Aries Chica

Ermy Erm… Painting the White House Black is a figure a speech which is a verse that came from a song from MC BREED back in the early 90’s “AINT NO FUTURE IN YOUR FRONTING”

So don’t take it personal it is a BIG THING…I must ask How old are you? Either you are way OLD or way Young to not know that statement and you being in the CHI you SHOULD have known this.

Anywho PAINTING THE WHITE HOUSE BLACK IS A COMPLIMENT TO HAVING A BLACK PRESIDENT.

I hope that answered your question…

Just don’t be too harsh on us we’re just Proud that a African American got in the White House.

  158. kahmmillion

My heart is overflowing right now!!!

  159. v-fromRock

    @ Aries Chica

I feel you on Ga especially since I live here myself. I thought that we would at least close the margin. There was a lot of people that came out for early voting and we had a problem with absentee ballot being printed up wrong..I think it was like 10,000. They had to fix them by hand.

  160. DatsMe

Today is the day of a new era… a new beginning for everyone nation wide, ***** that this is international. We can’t expect for things to change over night, but this is a great start to a nation of change. Last night we made history. And I say we because it took the effort of all of us to go out and vote to get where we are at today. Barack is definitely the best candidate for the job. But without the support of our nation he wouldn’t have been able to make the wonderful speech last night. No one believed that a black man would ever be President, ***** a long time ago few even believed that African-American’s would make it out from under the whip and control of white folk. It was a long long long journey to make this mark in history. But we can finally say that as a minority we made it….WE *****ING MADE IT! Change is possible for anyone willing to work hard enough. We have endured more then just a little pain. African- American’s have been malicely treated for centuries at a time. From being whipped and chained to killed and forgotten. Barack has restored faith in those whose faith had dissipated or even those who never had faith in themselves or in their own race. People went out of their way to shoot those who supported him, white folk did stupid ***** like carve letters into their face to make it seem like if a black man made it to presidency that the world would be over. I am not African –American but I am definitely proud to live among them. I am a Latina, a single mother of two, whose kids are half black and for me this is more then big. My kids have a real man to look up to. One who has endured the racism and stereotypes we encounter every single day of our lives. One who studied hard and worked hard to make it to where he is at. A man who has values and morals and is an upstanding citizen. A man who is a great father and a great husband and now will prove to be a great leader. I am proud to say that I am an American and I am proud to say that I live in a world of great success and achievements. Last night as McCain gave his speech we could hear only hear the voices of those ignorant people who don’t believe in color, they don’t believe on change, they don’t even see the bigger picture. They booed and moaned and groaned as McCain sucked it up and took the loss like a man. We cant forget that he fought this country like many others are now. He has endured unimaginable pain that we will never be able to relate to. He just plain in simple didn’t make the cut. Maybe his tactics were way overboard and he took jabs below the belt. That doesn’t make him any less of a man, it just makes him less acceptable as a leader. All ignorance aside, he may be old as hell, he may have been rude on many occasions to a man he now calls his president, but he still deserves to be respected. He got father then most of us have and that we can never take away from him. On the other hand, watching Barack Obama stand in front of that crowd and make his acceptance speech, warmed my heart. Seeing him show his gratitude to his wife, the woman he called the rock of his family, the love of his life. His gratitude to his grandmother and his sisters, his daughters and his Vice President and most important of , all of us made me smile more then anything in this world. Watching people celebrate on the streets of DC, the pride that they had, the glow in their faces. All of it makes me believe in something bigger then just faith alone. As I said before I am proud to be an American, and more importantly I am proud to be a part of history. Change is possible and like Obama said YES WE CAN! Whatever it is….if you put your mind to it…it can be done. Whether you are African-Amercian or white, Hispanic or Asian, rich or poor, disabled or just perfectly “normal”, a change has been made, please take it for what it is. Make the best of it, if you didn’t support Obama from the beginning. He is going to do nothing but greatness for this country. CONGRATS AMERICA WE DID IT!!

  161. Ermy Erm

Aries..chill out ok. damn. i didnt take it personal. and I didnt say anything negative to anyone who said that by saying they must be really young or whatever else you alluded to about my age because I asked that question. I just asked why ppl keep saying in agreement with NENE who said…

thats the kind of bull***** that makes us look stupid. this election is about more than having a black president.

I just feel it puts a negative picture into the minds of ppl who did not vote barack. they already cant handle the fact of having a black president. I’m just sayin let the progression be smooth. Not display the stereotypes ppl have of all black ppl being ghetto. Now that Obama is in the white house we have more responsibility as black ppl to uphold a sense of pride in a respectable way. Which means not saying or doing anything someone where someone would be able to say….”those black ppl”, or “just like a black person to say paint the white house black, those ghetto so n so’s”. It is indeed history being made and a compliment to us but all your CAPS and commenting on how old I must be were unnecessary.

  162. Dyma

    Honestly,

I’m proud of not only Barack…but I’m proud of you Americans. You guys proved that you are indeed Revolutionists and you made a dream a reality.

I still can’t get over the fact that Obama is THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT in a country that has been run by white men. You guys did us Canadians proud and now we will be coming to the states in Droves. LOL

    But still, guys, awesome job!

I couldn’t be prouder of my Black people.

Yes you can…and you certainly did.

Nor did I say anything negative to you just asking or was unclear if you knew where that statement came from and how old are you maybe that would have explained that and to HOPE I answered your questions to me.

I am a VERY reasonable person I am far from being a negative person that can exude a negative VIBE. This is how I type if you heard my speech in person you would have HEARD PURE CALMNESS no hostility or ghettoness… so Please take no Offense to what I was typing. I normally DON’T even respond to people on BLOGS but I am happy!

As stated before It’s a Figure of speech rendered in as a compliment and I see nothing Ghetto about saying it. Now if SOMEONE were to actually go and TRY and PAINT the white house black then we can speak on that as being Ghetto but the term itself is NOT.

As far as I’m concerned I am EXSTATIC, ELATED, ENCHANTED, enraptured, EUPHORIC, EXALTED, EXCITED, EXHILERATED, FIRED UP excuse my ALL CAPS..I mean I am NOT a bandwagon rider..I have been on the wagon when it was rough even selected as a State Delegate so pardon me for being mouthy today!

  194. Katherine

I understand them booing, I’m sure the thousands of people in the crowd for Obama would’ve booed too if the night hadn’t gone our way…but it did ;-)

  195. tru3playboy

It is a sad day in America now I have to look forward to paying higher taxes so some welfare, food stamp collecting section 8 dwelling ***** can live off of me. proudly casted my vote for McCain. All because he wants to be Robin Hood and play fast and loose with people’s hard earned money to help the poor.

    _____________________________________________

The only people that will be paying higher taxes are those who make 250 grand and up which is not the majority of the american population! The working cl***** people deserve a damn tax break! We’ve been killing ourselves supporting this country and the fat cats since the beginning of time! It’s time to pay the piper! And believe me a couple thousand dollars more in taxes are not gonna hurt people who are making that much anyway, and I’m sure they will find one way or another not to pay it! So shut the ***** up!

quick, tell me whats Obama’s policy on immigration, economics, and energy? yea….i also didnt think that you would know

    ————————————————

Okay Danny and for anybody else that want to address policies.

For energy, Obama is for the investment of alternative fuels and renewable energy. Obama’s energy plan will

-Help create five million new jobs by investing $150 billion over the next decade.

-Save more oil than what we import from the Middle East

-Have 10 percent of our electricty come from a renewable sorce by 2012

-Create a $7,000 tax credit for buying adv. vehicles

For the Economy, Obama plans to

-Ensure tax cuts for the middle cl***** and working families.

-Fight for fair trade(to open up foregin markets to support American jobs) and provide tax relief for small businesses

-provide $50 billion to jumpstart the economy

For immigration, Obama will plan to-

    Secure the boarders.

Remove incentives to enter the country illegally

by having the illegals pay a fine, learn English, and give them to opportunity to become legal citizens.

Obama also want to fix the immigration system by introducing the Citizenship Promotion act.

    Danny, you thought wrong. LOL!

  197. tru3playboy

And believe me those people will be claiming everything down to socks that they donated to goodwill to not pay that extra money! With big money comes very smart accountants so trust me when I tell you that they will not be paying their tax increase one way or another!

  198. Iron Puppy ***** (Caution: I am evolving)

Thanks to Obama for keping his word. He said we can and he did! To ALL voters no matter what your race, if you voted for Obama you voted for change! You said you would get out and vote and you did! Thank you. I will now do my part, I will stop any negative activity on this blog or elsewhere if it has anything to do with another Black person. This is just too Big of a moment in time and I respect it!

  199. Kitty Kat

I haven’t been this happy in such a long time. I cried when he gave that speech, my 4 yr old son saw me and wiped the tears off my face and with a smile said ‘mommy, Barack Obama is our president’. Ughh this just shows that anything is possible and for the ignorant people to boo and shout for McCain while Obama was celebrating on stage with his wife and kids is just so disrespectful, and they’ll regret not standing behind such a strong man.

    YES WE CAN!!

  200. Lacombe Redbone (My President Is Black, My Lambo's Blue, And I Be Got Damn If My Rims Ain't 2!!)

    Wow, Iron Puppy *****!

…Spoken with cl*****! I like that! Kudos :)

    Well written…thank you!

  202. Afiya - AIN'T NO STOPPIN' US NOW...WE ON THE MOVE...!

    Nov 5, 2008 – 7:45 am ‘YES WE DID’

I can completely understand why you would be proud as an African American, and please don’t stop celebrating it, its a great achievement for you and the United States of America. I just think the comments like “Wake up and realize that we are your masters now!!!” isn’t helping change any views that people have.

    ==========================

I DIDN’T like it either…how childish…this is what we are trying to get past…but give us a minute…we’ll get there.

  203. Pinky914

I never thought I’d see the day! Praise God in all his Glory that AMERICA has finally woken up! I’ve only felt this type of amazement, & pride twice in my life and that’s when i gave birth to my beautiful children! Today is the third time in my life and I am SURE it won’t be the last! We’re on our way! As a people and as a Country! God Bless & Blessed AMERICA!!!!!!!!! Keep Our new President & his family in your prayers!!!!!!!!!!

  204. I am speechless and emotional for so many reasons. I don’t even know where to start. For me the symbolism of this election seems to take precedence over the usual politic involved. After all, Obama is a politician. There is only so much he can achieve and he certainly will not keep many of his promises. Whether he wants to or not. Whether he is able to or not.

His election, as oppose to that of any similarly qualified white male, more than ever, embodies to me that America IS the land of many opportunities and that – Out of many we are ONE. The diversity of the people who wholeheartedly voted and supported him makes me emotional. I’ve taken it for granted that he would get 100% of the black vote and he got 96% (and to think us negroes are fond of calling others racists…….). But look at the outpouring of support from other groups. The Hispanics. The elderlies (who are expected to be set in their ways). The young voters of all creed, gender and persuasion. The white women who were expected to vote for McCain because of Palin (as if all women will bond when vagina is the only common denominator). White blue collar workers (who were deemed too stupid to see beyond a man’s skin color) – and all the others unaccounted for by the media. This is a HUMAN achievement – what we as human beings can do when we look past superficial boundaries. This is AMERICA – We’re setting examples for the WORLD.

That he won a state like Montana. *****ing MONTANA which is 92.79% Scandinavian whites; .50% black (less than 1%); .79% Asian (less than 1%); .12% Native Hawaiian (less than 1%); 7.36% (Alaskan). MONTANA where I wouldn’t want my car to run out of gas because of the prevalence of white-supremacists there. OK you can blame this on unreasonable fear and ignorance from my part. Still, that Obama won Montana had a significant effect on me. Pennsylvania? Ohio?

Ultimately, Obama’s win does not mean that the reality of bigotry and racial discrimination is gone, but that hard work and strength of character is ONE way to overcome obstacles.

I also welcome the new wave in black leadership!!!

People like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have given and done a lot for the betterment of the black community – their contribution is priceless – but they are a bit outdated and seem locked in time. May be Jesse’s tears meant he realized the p*****ing of the torch – not so much that he was crying FOR Obama but that he lived to see some of Martin Luther King’s dream being accomplished. And witnessed a page being turned in American History. Jesse and Al are the kind of fighters that they are because that is what they had to do to get us to where we are. There’s still a very long road ahead of us. And the fight isn’t over. We just need to fight DIFFERENTLY. So what I am saying is that their style of fighting might be better replaced with that of Obama.

And for me personally, an Afro-French-Caribbean woman with biracial children, in Obama’s cultural and racial background I see that of my children….

And as a descendant of slaves. Of people sold by their own kin (yes some africans sold us). Transported across the ocean packed like freaking sardines. Treated and considered sub-humans. 3/8 of a person? That is the common history of ALL people of color no matter where the ship dropped us. To see this man become the president of the USA – one of the countries with THE worst tradition of mistreating people of color is un-freak-ing believable.

This election is special (to me) not because he is a black president. In my natice land, we’ve never have but black presidents so it isn’t his blackness per se, but that it happened in the USA. Country of the Civil Right movements. Water hosing children during a peaceful demonstration. Being spitted at for marching. Profiling. Where black people are guilty before proven innocent. Where black men make up the largest %-age of the inmate population. Where drugs and crime and violence are the norm in our communities. Where our children are denied a decent education and are therefore under prepared for economic advancement. All that for being BLACK. This event makes me feel the oneness that we share as descendants of slaves. Not even 50 fifty years ago our parents sat in the back of the bus and went out the backdoor. Marian Anderson was not allowed to sing in the white house – and now a black family will occupy it.

THIS IS A HUGE FREAKING DEAL for people of color the world over!!!!!

And I can’t keep from crying and crying and crying.

In any case, I am like rambling on and on – Please forgive me.

And Thank You to YOU for your contribution in making this happen!!!

  205. Confident in ATL

MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK & EDUCATED!!!!!!!!

  206. OH MY GOD I AM SO PROUD THAT OBAMA WON I WAITED A HOUR AND 40 MINUTES JUST TO VOTE NOW I SEE THAT IT WAS WELL WORTH IT HIS ELECTION IT’S MORE THAN JUST A VICTORY FOR BLACK PEOPLE IT’S A VICTORY FOR ALL MINORITIES TO SHOW THAT WE CAN COME TOGETHER AND VOTE AS ONE I ALSO SAW A LOT OF WHITE PEOPLE VOTING FOR OBAMA WHICH I THINK IS GREAT IT SHOWS THAT A NEW GENERATION IT’S WILLING TO MOVE ON AND NOT COMMIT THE SAME MISTAKES AS THERE ANCESTORS YES WE CAN !

  208. The Truth

    Kitty Kat,

They booed for 2 seconds. As if there would have not been boos if McCain won. Please be real. McCain made a wonderful consession speech. Let’s understand a bit that his supporters are hurt and dissapointed but they will see, Obama can do the job. Black and white UNITE!

  209. Sharlene

I am so happy and proud of this day, both my parents are still alive to see the first bi-racial president and I must say we are excited and we know that President Obama will do a wonderful. Today my seven year old daughter said to me “mama can I be the president” I look right at her and say after last night anything is possible if you dream big and work hard to accomplish your dream. Our family move from Belize to the USA to follow our dream but never would we have thought that, this would be apart of our dreams and we would still be here to see such an amazing dream come true. God Bless America.

The only way Obama will secure borders would be to open them by merging Mexico with the US and this is in the works…Financial Institutions are now allowing undo*****ented immigrant to open checking account with a non-US ID such as a foreign ID…..
