Aurora police arrest the mother of two children who died in a weekend house fire.

CALL7 Investigator Tony Kovaleski was the first to report that Danielle Lynn Brockman, 23, was arrested Wednesday evening on Interstate 25 near Highway 7. He said an intensive search for her that had been going on since Wednesday morning. Brockman was arrested by the department’s Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team.

The mother was never identified by Aurora police during the investigation, which included the Crimes Against Children Unit of the Aurora Police Department and Aurora Fire investigators.

Kovaleski learned from sources that police had developed information Brockman might flee the state and developed a trail of information that led them to arrest her.

Brockman’s felony arrest warrant affidavit has been sealed, Kovaleski reported.

Two year-old Alivia Ramirez died around 1 a.m. Tuesday at a hospital, police said. The girl’s 3-year-old brother, Timothy Joseph Ramirez, died at a hospital soon after the early Sunday fire.

During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the two children were home alone at the time the fire broke out, according to police.

Aurora police and fire officials have been investigating how the fire started and who was watching the children when flames erupted in the house at 12685 East 13th Avenue. Police arrived at the ranch-style home just after 5 a.m. Sunday, two minutes after dispatchers received reports of a fire.

Officers found the children’s hysterical mother outside.

Officers tried to enter through the front door of the home, but there was too much smoke. They then tried a window, but had to pry off security bars before they were able to get to the children inside, Aurora police spokesman Detective Bob Friel said earlier.

Kovaleski said police had made numerous domestic calls to the home concerning the mother and her children.

Some neighbors told 7NEWS reporter Don Champion on Sunday that they’d grown concerned after repeatedly seeing the little boy running naked outside the home.

“In the morning, it got real cold and he was running, standing out here naked in the yard, barefoot,” neighbor Joe Flores said.

Earlier, police said they were investigating the child’s deaths for potential crimes against children or child neglect.

Brockman and her children had recently moved into the home, according to neighbors.

Brockman is being held for investigation of two counts of child abuse resulting in death. Her bond was initially set at $500,000.

This is a damned shame. We are absolutely irate over these hoes constantly abusing and neglecting their kids.

Put this broad under the jail please.

R.I.P. Timothy and Alivia!
