Victims Of North Carolina Shooting Save 12 Lives Through Organ Donation

The niece and son of Mary Ann Holder, the woman behind the recent North Carolina “Fatal Attraction” shootings have saved a dozen lives thanks to organ donation.

Organs harvested from two victims of a shocking North Carolina murder-suicide were used to save the lives of a dozen people, it was reported.

The shooter’s niece, Hannaleigh Suttles, 8, and son, Zachary Smith, 14, were two of four people killed with gunshots to the head in the carnage near Greensboro on Nov. 20.

Smith’s organs saved seven people while Suttles’ preserved five others, officials from Carolina Donor Services told ABC News.

“Like the saying goes, out of tragedy comes something,” Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Durand Dulin told the network. “It’s just so sad that so many lives had to be taken for someone else to survive. But it is a blessing.”

The shooter, Mary Ann Holder, 36, was apparently motivated by a love-triangle that led to a messy court battle.

In addition to Suttles and Smith, she also killed her son, Robert Smith, 17, and critically wounded two others before killing herself.

One of those who initially survived the shooting, Makayla Woods, 15, a family friend, was taken off of life support a few days after the shooting.

The other, another relative of Holder’s, was expected to be taken off of life support once matching organ donors can be found, family spokesman Ariel Lackey told Fox 8 News.

More than 112,000 people across the country are waiting for an organ transplant, according to Carolina Donor Services.

At least something positive came out of this tragedy. This has to be one of the saddest things to happen, especially around the holidays. It’s so ironic that the man who was probably the main target will be the only one to survive the shootings.
