200 lbs 8-year-old taken away from mother

How do you let your child get this large this early???

An 8-year-old elementary school student who weighs more than 200 pounds has been taken from his family and placed into foster care after county social workers said his mother wasn’t doing enough to control his weight.
The Plain Dealer newspaper reports that the Cleveland 8-year-old is considered severely obese and at risk for such diseases as diabetes and hypertension.

The case is the first state officials can recall of a child being put in foster care strictly for a weight-related issue. Lawyers for the mother say the county overreached when authorities took the boy last week. They say the medical problems he is at risk for do not yet pose an imminent danger.

A spokeswoman says the county removed the child because caseworkers saw his mother’s inability to reduce his weight as medical neglect.

Any parent who let’s their child get that big deserves to have their children taken away. Them mofos probably big themselves.

  • poor kid

Poor kid. This will probably scar him

They did the correct thing by removing him its is medical neglect. How does an 8yr old get that big? If he does not have a pre excisting condition like thyroid disease then it is his parents responsibility to keep him at a healthy weight. Childhood diabetes is nothing to joke about its a sad and dibilatating illness . I feel bad for the kid on top of health isssues all the pschylogical issues he has to endure teasing by other kids. Hopefully the parents can educate themselves on how to help their son and gain back their kid if there is no other reason y he was removed.

Did the article really just say that the lawyers claim that the medical problems he is at risk for pose no imminent danger? Any doctor will tell you the complete opposite!!! Diabetes and hypertension ain’t nothin to joke with…and it’s sad he’s at risk at 8 y/o. They are both preventable…but most ppl just don’t care to take care of themselves or their children til it’s too late. Hopefully the foster family can help him lose some lbs

Damn shame….8 yrs old. Hopefully the foster family can help him lose some pounds. Remember yall that diabetes and high blood pressure are preventable. We dont have to suffer from it!!! Most ppl just “accept” it as inevitable smh.

The parents may think its ok, to feed their child in this manner. But he he ho ho ha ha, they just set the child up for ridicule. Children these days are relentless, and would make the child miserable as hell. Parents like these are thinking temporarily, not logically
