You made some legit points. I do know some women that choose to relax their hair because they “hate” nappy hair. But to assume that all women get relaxers due to “self-hate” just isn’t true.

I get relaxers twice a year because my hair is naturely thick and the relaxer makes my hair more manageable. When it’s in it’s natural state (virgin hair) it takes me hours to tame it. I am a working woman who also goes to school part time, I don’t have the time to maintain the natural look.

Just wanted to give you another perspective on why some women get relaxers. Because it’s not fair to assume you know the reasoning why some black women get relaxers.
