Girl, a couple of twinkies and Big Macs could have gotten you an Oscar statue!!
In her new book, I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down, Hudson reveals that she was offered the plum part of the troubled yet developing schoolgirl (which ultimately went to Gabourey Sidibe, who got an Oscar nomination for it and lots of other acclaim).
Hudson had triumphed in Dreamgirls, then lost the weight she’d gained, eagerly presenting a lither JHud to the world.
She knew she’d have to gain it all back to play Precious, and the thought of that made her as queasy as if she’d tasted rotten clam dip.
“I had done that with Effie,” writes JHud, “and as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight.”
Instead, she said yes to the slim-waisted Sex and the City movie.
Considering that Halle Berry had to get her backs blown to smithereens to get an Oscar, adding a couple extra pounds doesn’t seem like such a bad thing if you ask us.
Do you think this was a good move??
